Went there breaking my local no chain only local rule because I wanted the two pork chop dinner that they didn’t have, now it’s an overpriced«heart healthy» jalapeño honey glazed single chop. Booths haven’t been looked at for a while, seating was very uncomfortable. Bathroom smelled like urine. I wound up getting chicken fried steak because the prices on everything else were way too high for what you got, and it was mostly greasy breading. I had to ask for a bowl of extra gravy, they barely spooned on some when my meal originally came out. The way typical steak houses are, usually full or almost full, I should have know something was up when I got there and there weren’t many people in the place. Service good to the point of being pushy, food bad, building needs some tlc. All in all a typical chain restaurant.

Benjamin was excellent. Hands down some of the best service. I am on the road and eat out daily and I have to say he is awesome. We came in after being on the road and wanted a good meal and that is what we received. Beers were cold and food was hot. Tasty rolls! Decent dinner salad. Steak cooked medium. Shrimp grilled along side some pretty good tomatoes.

$ 85 with tip, pitiful. Beer was cold and rolls were hot out of the oven. Coconut shrimp, French onion soup, steak salad barely fit to eat. Not many choices in the area, but three strikes and you’re out, won’t go back.

Service is pretty good, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. If you are really hungry it’s an option, but if you can go elsewhere.

The service was very friendly and food was decent buy the restaurant was very dirty. The restroom smelled like urine and the wood floors were extremely greasy. I’m not sure they’ve been mopped. I walked by the kitchen and saw garbage covering the floor and white buckets over flowing with trash. J almost decided to find a different restaurant but was yo hungry to leave. Hopefully I don’t get sick.

This Lone Star is really hit or miss. Sometime it tastes great, other times not so much. I have ordered the ribeye three times now and every time it doesn’t taste that great. Honestly, as someone that worked in a steakhouse before, it looks like the ribeye might even be cut incorrectly. You cannot see the marbling whatsoever. Whenever I get it, it looks more like a NY Strip than a ribeye. On the other hand, I have had people say they get the Porterhouse and it is great. I have tasted it and it was pretty good. The wait staff is good and the appetizers are good as well. It is just that darn ribeye they can’t get right. Also, I have had to send back two OD(overdone) steaks, so you might want to go a temperature lower. Unfortunately, I usually get mid-rare and asking for it rare isn’t always the best thing. Again, this place is hit or miss. That being said, it does cost too much for hit-and-miss serice.

Came here with group of customers after spending time all day in our factory. Does BFE need a defined location? Because if so – this is it! Basic, mid to low end steaks and other chain restaurant goodies served by start out waiters. Not too bad if you like your steaks gray, regardless of the temperature you asked them for! Fried Green Beans and rolls are awesome. Order them with a cold beer and stop there.

We came here for dinner after a long, five hour drive from Rockford. Since I wasn’t working that week, my sense of days was a little off, so I didn’t realize that it was a Friday night. We walked in and saw a huge line of people waiting for a table, I guess Lone Star is the happening spot in Mount Vernon on a Friday night. The three of us decided to grab a spot at the bar to eat. The lights above us were really hot, so we waited for a table in the bar area to leave and we sat there instead. Once we found our table, we started the ordering process. Our server was funny and full of personality! There was a great two for $ 20 deal going on. So my sister and I split an appetizer, two(select) entrees and two sides. Awesome! Yet between that and my dad’s dinner, there was just way too much food!!! Portions were out of control. The food was decent, nothing spectacular. The Caesar salad was drenched in dressing, and my steak wedge salad was good, but I ordered medium and it was a little on the rare side. The server was nice and brought me the extra sweet potato that he had rung in by mistake. It was really good, after I spooned off the massive a pile of sugar and cinnamon piled on top. I left stuffed and that was not the goal. I had to go walk on the treadmill at the hotel for an hour so I could sleep comfortably. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with super-huge portions, just not my bag, baby. If you are looking for a feast, this is your place!
