Small 8 day fair in Mount Vernon. Plenty of 4h barns and the typical fair food– mini country donuts, baby elephant ears, funnel cake, pizzaburger, french fries, french waffles. Lots of tractors too. I actually really enjoyed the school and house from the 1800s. The people inside knew plenty about the history of these buildings and tailored the information to the audience, making it enjoyable for adults and children. Admission to the fair was charged when parking, $ 5 per person. Docked a star for crazy parking — there are plenty of people directing parking but many unmarked one way lanes. You have to rely on the people to tell you where to park, how to exit, which was a one-way road, etc. Also beware– it started raining like crazy as soon as we paid, and the parking lot was in a grassy field…
