This park is wonderful for families and picnics. I was actually wanting to review the Kiwanis Noon Club of Mount Vernon Annual Salmon BBQ: It is an annual event that occurs in conjunction with the Skagit ValleyTulip Festival. «The Kiwanis Noon Club is famous for their Salmon Barbeque featured during the Annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Kiwanis Salmon Barbeque for 2015 starts Saturday, April 5 and continues daily through Sunday, April 27. The Kiwanis salmon barbeque hours of operation are from 11AM until 7PM daily. The Kiwanis Salmon Barbeque is located at Mount Vernon’s scenic Hillcrest Park Lodge.» For no more than $ 10 each you can get the Salmon Dinner plate with baked potato(no fixings) coleslaw, garlic bread and an ice cream bar for dessert. Water, coffee or lemonade are your drink choices. Its very casual with paper plates and plastic utensils and you eat in a dining room amongst others cafeteria style. Good times for the entire family! All proceeds go to the Children Priority One organization which serves the Skagit Valley community by running a variety of projects, programs, services and activities that helps those in need.

This park is absolutely beautiful. Coming from the eastern part of the state, we were taken back by the huge tall trees that surround the play areas. The play sets were clean and the grounds were well kept. We’ll definitely be coming back soon.

Great park! Clean bathrooms! Lots of space and two tot lots for different ages which helps a lot when you have a large family with different ages. Very peaceful and beautiful! Will come here again the next time we picnic.

I’ve been to a handful of parks in this area and it’s pretty nice. Nestled in a residential area, you’ll find Hillcrest Park. I went here to attend the Kiwanis Salmon BBQ at Hillcrest Lodge. The parking lot is a nice design with spacious parking stalls(something I’m not used to since there are small stalls in Seattle). I saw two vending machines full of drinks which was a plus! They had a tennis court that I didn’t use and a basketball court behind the lodge. There are two play areas — one for toddlers and one for older kids. I always think this is a good idea since play can get rough as you get older. They’re also within sight of the other in case you have kids of different ages. I love the shelter designs! One shelter had a type of firepit that was amazing! If I lived in the area, I’d definitely rent some of these! The Kiwanis Lodge appears to be made of logs and reminds me of everything I thought the Northwest would be. This park is gorgeous and full of tall trees, green grass, and would be a great place to host your family!

I’m a huge fan of their toddler playground. It’s low enough to the ground that my son could play more independently. There are 2 toddler play structures, swings and a lot of room to run around. There’s a larger play structure for older kids as well. There are pavilions around the park for gatherings available for rent. We had my son’s 1st birthday here last year and it was great! It was easy to book, a reasonable refundable deposit and nice and shaded! Parking is never a problem either.

I LOVE this park! For many, many years my Mom’s family had their family reunion here — the lodge is clean, spacious, has a full kitchen and bathrooms. On the grounds there are tennis courts, basketball courts, several play areas. Stopped and let me kids play here for an hour and it was the highlight of their day! This is what a park should be!
