This kitchenware store in downtown Mt. Vernon is so super-​cute. They have all kinds of high-​end cooking gadgetry, plus I’m so jealous that Americans are sensibly allowed to buy wine in a cooking store, along with other goodies. I was very happy to browse the aisles here (though my husband may not have been so pleased, time was ticking…), and ecstatic when I found a set of Swedish Angel Chimes for a Christmas decoration, just like my auntie used to have.
If you ever need to keep me occupied, just send me to a kitchen store (or china boutique).

Gretchen’s is a great shop located in good old downtown Mount Vernon. They carry up scale kitchen ware: Le Creuset, Emile Henry, Viking, appliances: Cuisinart, Krups, lovely Italian serving ware, and all kinds of cooks and non-​cooks. They also carry some and beer and wine. They have cooking classes, and wine tasting throughought the year. The classes are fun, and they serve wine at them to keep everone happy! I took my Mom to one last year and we had a blast. The staff is nice and helpful, and can do special orders if you need something they don’t carry.
