This is a great Chinese restaurant with a pretty interesting bar attached. The main dining hall is peaceful and appropriately decorated in a Chinese theme. I love the tea light warming my tea. The drinks are delicious with a slightly exotic twist. The huckleberry martini is particularly good with a salty sour rim of sugar. The food is very good and authentic. I was excited to see lump is on the menu. Lots of options for fish. Great crispy fried food in traditional American Chinese sauces.

Bathroom review: There’s a door leading to a hallway that contains two bathrooms: Gentlemen and Ladies; each having an eye-catching placard on its respective door. Very nice indeed. Inside, the men’s bathroom has two urinals and a spacious stall. The urinals did not have a separator for privacy. The stall had seat covers, two huge rolls of toilet paper, an open-top garbage can, and handicap bars. There are two sinks, side-by side, with a shared pump-style soap dispenser on the wall. Above them is a fashionable but downspoken mirror. There’s a plant on the counter in a decorated pot. The floor is a nice stone-colored tile. The walls are a pea-green with a warm yellow fixture theme. It actually felt very 70s in there, in color. Above the sink is a nice lamp, and there is well-placed wall art across from the urinals. All in all, it was a well-thought-out, decorated, nice, clean restroom. After thought: the sinks use a twist-style lever to turn them on and off, with one for hot and one for cold. An interesting choice, and one I’m not used to seeing. There is no baby-changing station, and I’d have liked to see a garbage can a little closer to the door or one in the hallway area. 4/5, with definite leanings toward a 5.

Stay away from fried or meat. Not impressive. Seafood and veggie dishes are their best to offer.

Typical Americanized Chinese food here… couldn’t tell if the sweet and sour chicken was actually chicken or pork… the meat wasn’t discernible, and in the typical thick sweet and sour sauce. The breaking was a little thick and not very crisp and the oil didn’t taste very fresh. The BBQ pork fried rice was alright, not much wok flavor and if you don’t like cabbage beware, lots of cabbage in the dish and a little bit oily. The Mongolian beef was a little disappointing too, not a good sear on the beef with the typical yellow onions and green onions on a bed of crunchy noodles. Again, the crunchy noodles tasted of slightly old oil. I was disappointed, had heard good reviews of this place but it’s really no better than other places in town, although my husband said it wasn’t as greasy or oily to him.

This restaurant is so cute. The staff is extremely friendly and polite. I went for lunch and ordered a lunch combination. The portions were perfect for me and I was even able to take some leftovers home. You should try this place out!

Very good food with fresh flavors. Got food to go so can not comment on service. Best in Mt Vernon area that I have tried so far.

Either the quality of the food is going downhill or I was overly optimistic when I gave them 4 stars the first time. We had hot and sour soup, which was okay, but lacking in vegetables. The bbq pork was the worst I’ve ever had though… dry, cold, and with a weird taste. Eating at the restaurant is kind of strange too. They have a separate lounge that’s frequented by the 60+ crowd from Mount Vernon. Some of them are heavy drinkers and are in and out the front door so they can smoke. Yuck!

This must be a hit or miss kinda place. I came because of several good reviews but sad to say not good at all. My meat was smelly and gamy, the noodle too soft and soup was way to thick and salty… :(

Every time I eat here it’s take out. The inside seems dated/grunge and they aren’t very friendly. I will go back because i don’t know anywhere else with crab rangoon but not the best in the NW.

It was my birthday. My husband was taking me out for Chinese dinner. We looked for days trying to find a good one. We finely decided on this one. When we got there it was packed. Thought great. We got seated. About 25minutes later they took our order. We had to ask to get something to drink. After 1and a half hour later no food. We are done. We will never go there again.

Typical gwai lo Chinese food. I would not recommend this place unless you like the usual deep fried, battered, sugary, msg ridden type Chinese. The people that rated this place so highly do not have taste buds and have obviously never been outside their home town. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking in going to this place but the Unilocal ratings made me give it a chance.

Unilocal review: Poor reporter edition. Happy hour ’til 7 p.m. Received my beer, app, and soup within four minutes of sitting down and entrée four minutes later. Everything was delicious and it was less than $ 20. This is now my Chinese place.

Reasonable prices with fresh and tasty food! Very traditional decorations and menu. Clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the hot and sour soup followed by a great«house special» egg foo yung that was loaded with shrimp, bbq pork and chicken. Shocking to see my young grandkids inhaling the egg rolls and loved their rice and gravy. Service was attentive, water and tea glasses were bottomless. Overall a solid 4 star top notch experience and when in Mount Vernon will return again.

Best Chinese in the county. Ling and her staff are wonderful. They get to know you and cater to your needs. I love this place. I’m glad we started coming here over a year ago.

So in Mt. Vernon, Washington there are very few Chinese food spots. As a SF Bay Area resident I am use to seeing one on every corner. That being said they are getting a fourth star for the simple fact that they are one of the few good spots to go up there. They are a tad pricier than expected for Chinese food, but I have to say the inside of the restaurant is very traditional and classy. They have a decoratively carved wood table with a lazy suzy center which I can see working perfect for a big family dinner. Their booths and tables are clean and looks and feels very sturdy and authentic unlike many cheap places I have seen. Their food can use a little tweaking to perfection in my opinion. The Mandarin Chicken is to die for though! Don’t change that dish a bit. The Chow Mein really put me off however, with the use of celery in it. That was disgusting, but the caramelized onions almost made up for it. My girlfriend and I ordered egg rolls which were delicious and walnut shrimp. Now the walnut shrimp was technically on the mark. My only issue with it was the flavor. The walnuts tasted good and so did the shrimp but it felt like it was missing a defining flavor. The walnuts were mild as well as the shrimp and it was sadly missing that defining kick that makes you go mmmmmm. Lots of restaurants chose honey as the defining flavor, but the chef artfully put the shrimp on a plate adorned with orange slices. I believe if it were Orange Walnut Shrimp this place would have a plate that set it apart from all other Chinese food spots. The staff was also very attentive and fast and was very easy to communicate with which is always a plus. I will stop by this place again to try some more dishes and see what else they have to offer.

Ordered hear a bunch. Great food. Love the lemon chicken the best. Down side is it’s 30 $ minimum for delivery, so don’t ask for delivery if your eating alone. Other than that decent food, like it. :)

This is my family’s favorite local Chinese restaurant! We come here often for family birthdays or just to celebrate the end of the week. The customer service is great, and one of the ladies that works there remembers my little brother and how he needs to start of his meal with a BIG order of sizzling rice soup! My family of four usually orders what I believe is the lunch or dinner for two, which comes with plenty — we always have leftovers. It comes with two choices of entrée, rice, potstickers, and sweet and sour soup, but my family customizes ours. We replace the sweet and sour soup for the sizzling rice soup which my whole family loves — especially my little brother! We keep the potstickers but also add spring rolls and crap puffs/rangoons. The entrees we usually pick are Mongolian beef and almond chicken which are both amazing. Sometimes when we come with bigger groups we also order the mandarin shrimp with broccoli as an extra entrée, and this dish is another one of my favorites! I’ve never been disappointed by the food here and will continue to come for as long as I’m in the area!

This is my most favorite chinese restaurant! The owner always remembers my family when we return. Whenever I visit my little Mount Vernon, I always go here. NOONEINTHEBAYAREACANCOMPARETOFORTUNEMANDARIN! They have THEBEST walnut shrimp, so fresh, perfectly battered and perfectly mayo’d up! The broccoli chicken/beef is a must have, I order it every time! Any fried rice is great, any noodles and omg, the chop suey makes you like oowee!(in a good way of course!!) Even down to the fortune cookie, it’s nothing like the unauthentic ones you get from say P. Express… ya know what I mean? The fortune always hits the spot. I usually get really lucky! Haha!
