Deb, I miss you. For the record, this place is NOT closed, although it has a new address on Nunda Road in Howard. If you’re looking for them and can’t find them, I’d be happy to point you in the right direction. I learned to weave with Deb four years ago. She’s an inspiring teacher and a gifted artist. Her stock has always been incredibly well curated; when the store was larger, she was very good at stocking the trends without allowing the store to be overpowered by them. Now she’s whittled down the stock to just the yarns she feels are of the best caliber, and her judgement is impeccable. I live out of state now, but I still buy from her; I’ve begun to just say, «hey, you pick the color» when I can’t get my hands on color cards online. Her choices are always perfect. I’ve yet to find another store owner who really gets what I’m about, in terms of helping me find the yarns I need to get my projects done. If you get a chance to take a class with her, do it. She teaches summer retreats now and is beginning to focus more on weaving. Even in bigger cities, you’re not always going to be able to explore fiber arts to the degree that you can here in Mt Vernon, so take advantage of it while you’ve got it. I’m sure glad I did.
