Despite this pizza not being my favorite in Mt. Vernon, it is still excellent and the reason why is a matter of taste. When you smell the pizza as you carry it out of the store, it smells like Kossar’s Bialy’s on the LES. The cheese is good cheese, it isn’t too salty. The reasons it isn’t my preference? The dough is pretty thick which isn’t my thing, and the sauce has a sharp oregano taste.
The point is, its a solid slice, it just is not my ideal style.

I tried my first Sicilian slice here!
So I guess I’m no expert… but I found the slice to be very tasty, with a good layer of cheese atop fluffy bread. The sauce was also very good; slightly sweet, with a strong tomato flavor.
My favorite part was the nice owner. A little girl came in asking how much a slice of pizza cost, and he replied «$ 2.25». She lowered her head in disappointment, and turned to walk away. Before she left, the owner called out, «Wait. How much do you have?» and the girl replied «Only $ 1.75.»
He cut her a slice of pizza regardless.
That reminded me that yes, there are nice people in this world, somehow.
