I can only make sense of some of the reviews below by assuming there is a new owner, because I’ve had consistently good experiences here. I go pretty often with a Mexican friend who lives nearby. The food has been delicious lately. I really recommend the gorditas. try mixing and matching a few different fillings for fun. The food is authentic and flavorful, and actually spicy! Also, ask for a sample of the avocado salsa. It’s absolutely delicious and you’ll be surprised at how gourmet it is. Tonight I also tried some salsa de chiles de arbol for the first time. It was so hot, but so immensely flavorful. I’ve sensed a steady improvement over the past year so I encourage you to give it a try these days. The woman who seems to be the owner or manager has been there each time the last few months. She cares about your experience, and her presence really makes a difference.

I went ass backwards and tried tortas locas too first. I got it to go and it was pretty decent, but way too much bread. This location was good. I really enjoyed my torta and would even put in the top 7. They also had home made giardiniera and the salsa verde was really good. The flautas were mediocre and the beer is pretty expensive. I walked out paying 18 for a torta, 2 flautas and 2 beers. Also, She kept referring to my friend(who is mexican) to speak in spanish and pretty much ignored me.

I was EXTREMELYDISSAPOINTED when I went in for a pollo adobado. I used to live in Des Plaines & my family would order from this place all the time! I moved away & recently relocated back to the Mt Prospect area. We were craving chicken so when I happened to find that they recently moved to a bigger location just a couple doors down from where they were, I figured bigger & better!(I WASWRONG) The chicken I got was very dry & tasted old as if it had been there for hours, or I wouldn’t be surprised if it was yesterday’s! I called to complain but by the time they had closed. So I either got the last batch of chicken sitting there all day, or they just suck. :(

Place has decent tortas. Haven’t tried anything else but stay away from the horchata. It is in a open container and gets the fridge taste mixed with salsa just plain weird.
