Don’t go here! The part owner is rude and doesn’t care about her customers. She is willing to make an ass of herself and admit she is part owner. She had a huge attitude when told there was a line for the restroom and she was about to skip 4 – 5 people who had been waiting at least 5 min.

Hands down best brunch in Mt. P. Reasonably priced, cool ambiance, everything on the menu is good. I had the fried chicken biscuits and potatoes and would deff order it again.

Damn good burger that seems a little overpriced in general but we went on half price burger night and it was a great deal at half price. Fries were good but not really much to mention on them. The burger was cooked to perfection being pink on the inside and I really loved the dripping blue cheese and smothered onions and mushrooms stacked high on the burger. We also got a Happy Hour order of Fried Okra and pickles and that was outstanding! Perfect tang in the sauce and not too much breading. Absolutely will have them again. Their Key Lime Pie for desert was very tasty and beautifully presented. I am not 100% sure how the other foods on the menu are. The Bog looked good and a good idea. The Happy Hour on drinks was great as well. Good prices across the board for beers, wine, and house liquors. A couple of those Vodka drinks went very well with my burger. It was a cold night and we did sit too close to the wind screen so pretty cold. Will work on moving closer to middle next time but there will be a next time and probably will be boring and order exactly what I had this time. Burger and Fries, Fired Okra and Pickles, and Key Lime with a couple vodka sodas to wash it down with. p. s. Be careful with parking. Several lots have signs showing the restaurant logo on them but they are to keep customers out and busy place so park a block away and walk if small lot is full.

This is now on my top favorite brunch places. They have indoor and out door seating. Plus, if the days are bad they can expand the indoor seating by putting up fake walls. It is a great combo. The waitress I had was very friendly and always made sure we had drinks and food. The drinks I got were mimosas, the Category 6, and coffee with Bailies and Jameson. Both were fantastic. For food we got the buffalo chicken dip, loaded fries, and the chicken pesto sandwich. The appetizers were very large portions and allowed 7 people to snack with some left over. My sandwich was a great portion and they didn’t skimp on the cheese like some places do. Over all everything was great. I will be coming back again very soon. They were pet friendly for the outside and there was a GREAT band playing the frequents it often called The Midnight City. A great cover band and one of the best reasons to go!

The address takes you to a vacant lot. It’s actually on Coleman. If you like your spoon to stand up in your coffee this is the place for you. Good okay

One of my go-to spots. At brunch today ordered the special which was a burrito with bbq pork and eggs and cheese. It was awesome! Everything on their menu is usually pretty good. The bowl of bog is a staple I love. Service is hit or miss especially if busy. Live music is great to hear at night and during brunch.

Went for Saturday brunch, very nice atmosphere. There was a trio acoustic band at noon which really made it enjoyable. The food was great, Bloody Mary bar was decent, but I think I’d rather have someone just make my drink lol. The crowd was all ages and was nice for families too. I will absolutely be back.

Here is the most important thing you need to know about The Shelter: you just do’t go here for the food. You come here to watch football, hang out with friends, grab some hh, play some cornhole, you catch my drift. But no one thinks of where they want to eat and decide, «The Shelter!» With that said, the few food items that we did have were decent. Nothing blew my mind, but it was good food to have on a heavy day of drinking. The wings are pretty good, we mixed the Memphis style with level 3 buffalo. If you like spicy, I recommend going up to a level 4 or 5. The 3 didn’t do it for me. The service here has always been pretty good. The bar can get slammed, but no bartender has ever gone out of his/her way to not get me a drink as quickly as possible. They are all fast and efficient and take good care of their customers. I enjoy coming here to hangout with friends and make our way with our drinks to play a few games of cornhole outside. Makes for a fun Saturday afternoon!

Came here for a quick happy hour and had a well drink($ 2.50) and their pork taco($ 2.50). The taco was delicious and recommend anyone to get them. One of my other friends got the brisket sandwich they said was«superb». The servers were very nice, and prompt with their service.

So… Decided to come here on a Saturday evening because not much is open late night in the area and reviews were decent. We arrive and am greeted by a bouncer with wristbands. Thought this was strange but ok. Walk in and no host/hostess at the station and took a while to flag someone down. Place was packed with all sorts of young good looking people around the bar. Quickly got the vibe it was more of a watering hole /pick up place than a restaurant. So am seated and the sever was real nice, made some recommendations and we ordered chicken dip and brisket sandwich. The food was mediocrely good if that makes sense. But the atmosphere was a mess. If your looking for a frat bro college football watching crowd this is your place. Couldn’t talk to my friend because people were yelling. Also a girl decided my coaster for my water was a great place to set down her drink for the next 30 min and just told me I’m setting this down here. She also was in my personal space. Drunk ladies behind my friend kept banging his chair. Just not a good place to et a late night bite if you are looking for the simple bar with decent food. It’s rowdy as hell. Food was mediocre Atmosphere not good if you go for food, cool place to grab some drinks I guess Service goodish

This is definitely a hopping spot! We arrive around 7:15 and it was packed. We were seated quickly, but not served for about 15 minutes after. I was overall disappointed in the timeliness of food and drink arrival. I don’t think that the server is to blame, as I hear that the service is regularly slow. Our server was very sweet and helpful, but I think she must have been waiting on the kitchen/bar! I had the burger with Gouda and caramelized onions and it was delicious! My Farmer’s Margarita hit the spot. I love the atmosphere, and they have great food and drink offerings. I would like to see them step up the service with timely delivery of orders!

LOVEDIT!!! It took us a long time to try out The Shelter b/c we kept hearing it caters to the young, hip crowd — which we are not. We were there for dinner on a Saturday and were seated right away. There was a complete mix of families, older couples like ourselves, young groups. What’s better than that — the food was fantastic. Our waiter, Patrick(more on him later), recommended the 2 specials — we followed his recommendation on the red snapper, but not the taco’s because I was craving fried shrimp. Patrick also brought us 2 surprise drinks based on what we like — both drinks were fantastic and very well priced! Then dinner arrived — the snapper and grits was out-of-this world. The fish was cooked to perfection, the grits were some of the best we’ve ever had and the broccoli was delish. Unfortunately the fried shrimp wasn’t all that great — The breading was so heavy and salty that I couldn’t taste the shrimp. I quickly switched meals with my husband and I got to devour that snapper dish. What really made the experience wonderful was Patrick. He raved about the restaurant so much we thought he must be a family member of the owners. Nope, he’s only been there a few months but loved the place. Even though it was somewhat busy, Patrick took the time at every table to chat with them personally, shake everyone’s hands and make everyone happy he was waiting on them. We will definitely be back in the very near future. They have good happy hour options, great looking brunch menu and Tuesday is burger night — I think it’s ½ price burgers. Sidenote — as the Saturday night progressed, yes, it did start filling up with young professionals, but by that point families and older couples were done with their meals and heading elsewhere.

Brunch here was raved by everyone we knew! They all talked about how great everything was, but once you go there you realize there’s really nothing that great about this place. First, we were told the wait was 15 minutes and it turned out to the 45 minutes! We were starving by the time we were sat! When we finally sat we had to wait another 15 minutes to order our food! We actually told our sever we were starving so we needed to get out food out. It still took another 30 minutes for our food. Our server was no where in site during our wait either. So disappointing! When we got our food, nothing really made it worth the wait! I had the peek of the creek omelet and husband had the old village omelet. Both were lacking in flavor! It was disappointing to be waiting on food that tastes like nothing! This place seems popular to the young drinkers but if you have taste, or are not drunk, this place it not the place to be.

Can you say low country boil. Great, plenty of it, large shrimp, the best, the best. Problem. you have to peal the shrimp. I’m used to having pealed shrimp, but that’s me. Good service, went there after busy lunch time, sat anywhere we wanted. If you sit outside, very noisy due to the road. Nice hang out place. I wanted a Kentucky Mule, but was told not served in brass mug. So, I said no thanks. They said people would take them home. I told the waitress, to have the Shelter logo put on them for free advertising, if they are taken. Oh well, it is what it is. Frank G

Great place for brunch on a Saturday. Service was fast and efficient. Our seafood omelets were delicious and made with care. The home fries were amazing! Definitely plan to go back soon.

We were disappointed. The negatives: — the service: very slow, she was chatting with friends at tables, and a cardinal sin: not knowing what was on tap — The appetizers were way, way overpriced The pros: — half priced burger night on Tuesdays — Food was very good — Nice atmosphere Three of us stopped in for dinner on Tuesday PM. Started with the low country rolls which, while good, were tiny for $ 9. We all chose the Gouda burgers which were very good. The sweet potato fries were good, although a small portion. Brussels sprouts and cole slaw would’ve been better choices. It was a nice outdoor setting on a nice evening — fair amount of noise from the cars on Coleman Blvd, but still OK sitting outside. Our server seemed pre-occupied with other stuff and we seemed to be a bother to her. They had some really good beers on tap, but after«Bud, bud light,…» she drew a blank. Think we’ll try another place in Shem Creek next time.

Food was average. I got chicken and biscuits because I’m a tourist and love that stuff! My drink was the problem. They had a special called«any port», or something like that. Basically it’s where you just ask for any port and they pick a beer on tap or a beer they have in the restaurant. This beer was not on tap, it wasn’t even on the menu. The waitress brought me an Icehouse. Now I have heard that these any port beer choices can be fun or local, but both myself and my friend got the same nasty bum beer. Icehouse is resulting and if it’s not even on the menu I would consider that a mean trick on the part of my mean waitress. I wouldn’t go back here strictly because of this mean tricky waitress, whose name escapes me at the moment.

I have been here twice and have 0 complaints. Most recently, it was for Sunday brunch with some friends. The hubs and I arrived first, and were seated at a sort of cramped table due to the place being PACKED. After debating a few minutes, we requested to be moved to another table so we would have more room. The waitress/hostess was extremely understanding and let us moved to a table in direct sun(bad call on my part as i got a bit crispy, but it was a lovely day with a light breeze — worth it!) We started with a carafe of Mimosa($ 7.50, I think) and a diet coke/water. They took a minute to get our Mimosa out, but with how many other people were there I can understand why! I had the seasonal french toast, which was basically heaven. It was coated in some sort of crunchy, cinnamony, sugary cereal textured magic and then fried. It came with a side of syrup, which you truthfully didn’t even need… so I thought. The syrup and toast together made my mouth want to explode with joy. I tried my friends eggs, which were just eggs. I can’t vouch for anything else, but that french toast is incredible. Even though the restaurant was packed the entire two+ hours we were there chatting, our waiter was always easy to find and quick to grab us whatever we may need.
