Had quite possibly the worst service I’ve evernhad at a restaurant. Waitress was extremely rude, condescending, slow, and un-apologetic. One example was that we had to get up and find silverware AFTER our food was served to us. The food was fine but there was no «front of the house» management which clearly showed as the staff seemed to care less about their customers. Really a disappointment and Thrillist got this restaurant wrong in recommending them.

This is the fifth or sixth time that we have gone to the granary in the last couple years. And honestly, it was a better and more satisfying meal then we’ve had in the past six months anywhere else… Including some of the newer, highly lauded restaurants downtown. The service was friendly and flawless from start to finish and the food could not have been better. The Porkchop is easily one of the best pieces of pig i’ve had anywhere. Smoky, but not too smoky. Juicy, and a wonderfully Crisp sear on the outside. The cauliflower purée and root vegetables were perfect with the dish and I could eat this every day of the week. The chef accommodated my request for a side of the roasted wild mushrooms… Amazing. My wife’s market fish was a oven roasted grouper and it was also spectacular. Flavorful, but not so much that the flavor of the fish was masked. Again, the bed of roasted vegetables, especially the broccoli, was delicious. The cheese and charcuterie board was plentiful, beautiful, and very well done. The Shishito peppers with the grilled peaches are a dish we are going to attempt to replicate this Sunday for friends at our own house! We were told that they are opening a raw bar near On 41 at the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 17. CANNOTWAIT!!! Our hats off to the chef, owner, entire staff, and anyone lucky enough to dine there! We will be back, and it won’t be a year later this time!

So… I saw one of those Anthony Bourdain episodes on Charleston last night… and he looked to enjoy all of what the Holy City had to offer… Husk is a fantastic restaurant, don’t get me wrong… But if I’m heading anywhere to eat«modernized, southern cuisine» from Charleston, I’m heading to the Granary. I could spend quite a bit of my time debating this with many people, but there’s really no point. The Granary is my absolute favorite in Charleston. I realized after several visits and multiple charcuterie boards later… this is where authenticity and creativity come to marry in a wonderful union of fresh ingredients, big flavors and modern twists. The food here truly speaks for itself. Service is always wonderful. And the wine list isn’t to shabby. The chicken liver mousse, bone marrow small plate, strawberry salad and the short rib entrée are all my favorite dishes from this establishment. However, branch out and try other menu items… and you really can’t go wrong with anything you decide on.

Our absolute favorite local restaurant! We do not eat out often because we are extremely picky about our food and where it comes from. The Granary meets our high standards and to top it off their staff is super cool and their Moscow Mule will knock your socks off. Oh, and they go out of their way to make sure we don’t die!

Great food. Fantastic service. Nice ambience. Owners greeted us. Nice young couple own restaurant. They are in the process of building on Coleman Blvd where Oriental Garden used to be. Food is beautifully prepared and very delicious.

This restaurant was fantastic! As soon as we walked in everything went perfect. Our waiter was very knowledgable on all the dishes, knowing the purée and spices used in each. He gave us recommendations and was spot on! I had the pork chop and it was splendid, I want licking my plate clean! The wine was paired perfectly with it as well. Our meals for our table of six were delivered all at once by several wait staff members so we didn’t have to wait for anyone’s meal. The service was five stars and the meal would be six stars if I could add more stars! I would recommend this to anyone in the area!

This food is amazing. This location is amazing. This service is amazing. We gave it 4 stars only because we had to knock elbows with our neighboring tables, and start awkward conversations. We recommend: The Benedict hash and grits. It’s a pretty fancy place and a wonderful date spot for extroverted middle aged people.

This establishment has been on my list for a while. It’s just ok I’m my opinion. It was busy, nice bar area but I won’t be rushing back. I had the Brussel Sprouts which were very good & the cioppino.(sp!) It was just average, disappointing actually. It’s a big space, room for groups, & a night out from work etc. It’s in the Belle Hall Shopping Mall so plenty of parking but this place did not hit the bar for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Granary! This is a place with an industrial but warm vibe(think pipe and wood shelves, wood countertops). I started with the happy hour mule and the hubs got a beer that the bartender recommended, something to the effect of sweet potato pie. Both were excellent. The Moscow mule has less zip than Rarebit(which is still my favorite Charleston mule). We ordered the meatballs to start, a wonderful concoction of the best broccoli I think I’ve ever had, a pickled slice of carrot and a really good meatball that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Next, the hubs ordered a burger(which for the sake of writing an accurate review of course I had to try!). It was juicy and flavorful, something I would definitely order again. The fries that came with it were substantial and the skinny version, my favorite. And… the sauce that came with the fries was excellent, a little lighter and zingy-er than ketchup, I would but it if they bottled it, very good. I ordered the pork belly small plate. I’m always a little concerned with pork belly that I’m going to be grossed out by the amount of fat or grease, but I thought this was the perfect blend. The grits were very good(every northerner should have to try ones like this before judging) and the pesto was a tasty addition. The eggs on top tied it all together well with the runny yolk. Lastly, the side of brussel sprouts. I wish I would have looked to see what exactly is in the sauce, but it tasted maple-y and sweet, but not too sweet. I would definite order them again as well. I’m very happy we stopped here, it’s a place worth visiting again!

We came in for brunch and started with the Truffle Pomme Frites. They had a milder truffle flavor than most truffle fries, which I enjoyed. I had the Flatbread dish as my entrée. The only thing I enjoyed about this dish was the presentation. The dish featured sunny side up eggs and other vegetables atop flatbread. For $ 14 I was served eggs, bread and burned vegetables. I was highly disappointed in this dish. Aesthetically, this place had some blank walls and had very basic décor. Final Thoughts: Overpriced and not worth the price tag.

We’ve had some delicious brunch food lately, but damn, the folks at the Granary really brought it today. I think I could have ordered anything on the menu and been thrilled with the choice, but I opted to give the Hash Benedict a whirl. Perfectly smoked pork, peppers, mushrooms, ninja level hash brown potatoes. Plus two expertly prepared poached eggs on top. Insane. My wife had the chicken Huevos. A great choice as well. All served up by a professional service staff. Honesty we were pleased with the entire experience. We’ll be back.

When my sister told us we were going to North Charleston for dinner, I balked. But that turned into being beyond pleasantly surprised to some of the best food I’ve ever had! The menu isn’t big, but everything looks good. For 6 of us we ended up over ordering a bit, but I don’t care, it was awesome. First off, their moscow mule is the BEST I’ve ever had. And I drink a lot of moscow mules. Secondly, their pork chop dinner tastes like a bacon steak. And lastly, everything else, from the gnocchi appetizer to the short rib to the buffalo okra was amazing. Great meal!

Ok, it was my first visit. I didn’t know what to order. And I feel I ordered the wrong things(2 smaller plates). I tend to blame myself and not the restaurant for goofs like that. I did not enjoy my first dining experience there. But the restaurant is an inviting venue, with excellent service. Permit me to return soon, order something I’m better qualified to review, and thus be more fair to my both my tastes and to the restaurant’s menu.

Wait just one minute! I think I found my new favorite spot in Mount Pleasant. I don’t usually make the epic journey(and yes it is quite epic) over the bridge for dinner but I think I might have to start doing it more often. The Granary is unique with a great atmosphere. I love that it is a local sourced menu with a great cocktail list. I am already planning my next big adventure over that bridge!

I’m probably in the minority here but I just wasn’t THAT impressed with The Granary. My wife and I finally decided to give it a shot last night after hearing all of the hype. We started things off with the charcuterie platter. To me, this was the least impressive charcuterie I’ve had in Charleston. That’s not to say it was bad, just not my favorite. I ended up having the burger with an egg on top. The burger was actually pretty great and the fries were excellent as well. My wife got the fried chicken and I thought it was decent. It wasn’t the best I’ve had but it was pretty good. Overall, I get the feeling that The Granary is attempting to position itself among some of the best restaurants in town. Given the pricing and location, I just can’t get on-board. The food was above average but I feel that my money would be better spent at one of the establishments downtown. I couldn’t help but think of Graze while I was dining here. Graze, another strip mall establishment, puts together meals of similar quality at a more reasonable price point. In The Granary’s defense, it’s possible we went the wrong direction on the menu. I noticed that some Unilocalers decided to stick with small plates. Maybe we should have done the same. I’m sure we’ll be back at some point but I’m in no hurry.

At the risk of being run out of town … our meal at the Granary was nothing to rave about. Notice that I said our ‘meal’ … and not our dining ‘experience.’ Yeah, the décor is striking and easily appeals to both men and women. Yeah, it has a great bar area. Yeah, our server, Renee, was helpful, and attentive, but not overly so. But, to me, a great dining experience leads off with a great cocktail. Tonite was not one of those nights. Frankly, my Moscow Mule was disappointing. Yeah, it was cold and large, but it had no kick … almost as if the bartender forgot to add the vodka. I kid you, not. We ordered the deviled eggs($ 8.00) to share as our starter. Nothing special … Traditional, buffalo oyster and buttermilk chicken.(Think about it … who actually wants to eat chicken and eggs in the same mouthful of food?) Maybe, we should have ordered the charcuterie or kale salad. Next up, the entrees. My hub’s burger($ 14.00) was just OK … house ground beef, topped with tomato jam(drippy) white cheddar(ordinary) and arugula served on a toasted sesame bun(nothing special). The accompanying portion of truffle fries, though abundant was not hot … a real downer for me. The low point of the meal was my entrée, the Cioppino,($ 21.00) described on the menu as composed of blue crab, shrimp, mussels, clams, tomato and fennel in a white Thai lobster broth served with sour dough. It should have been fabulous. It wasn’t. In fact, it was downright disappointing. We passed on dessert. Later that evening, I reviewed my photos, then, referred back to the on-line menu to confirm my suspicions. Aha! My bowl of Cioppino was missing the mussels … and where was the blue crab? What you will see is lots and lots of fennel which explained the overwhelming taste of licorice. Frankly, I’m not sure we’ll return any time soon for dinner when we can get a get a great Brendan Florie-designed burger at On Forty One … topped with oodles of yummy caramelized onions and house made pimento cheese.

Very good place to eat-we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. I had the Shrimp and Grits and they were absolutely delicious. Medium shrimp in a tomato based sauce with lots of peppers and ham?(Better than ham-maybe lardons). We enjoyed mimosas that had just the right mix of champagne and oj. Everyone seemed pleased with the meal. The only complaint was that the bacon was very, very thin and overcooked. Otherwise, we were all very satisfied. I would recommend trying one of the more unique items like duck and waffles or short rib hash. Look to be delicious!

After hearing all of the hype about this place, I finally made my husband and friend come for brunch last weekend. I called to make a reservation and the employee who answered was extremely polite. She even checked to see if we have any food allergies they should know about! After my call, I was even more excited to go. We arrived and were promptly seated. It did take a while for someone to get over and grab our drink order. I chose their Moscow mule — definitely not my favorite in Charleston, but not bad. When we got around to ordering, the table got a side of fries with their smoked ketchup, the frittata, the biscuits and gravy, and the shrimp and grits. The ketchup, honestly, was what I was most blown away by! It is so dang good! My shrimp and grits were yummy, but nothing incredible. They were able to make it without peppers, so that was good. I would probably order something else next time, though. I will say that my main complaint was the service. While our server was very friendly when he took the order, everything was super slow. They weren’t terrible busy, but it seemed that we could never flag down someone to refill our empty waters and teas. Even when trying to get our check, everything just seemed to much longer than it should have. Overall, I’d say 3.5÷5 because of the issues with service. I would definitely come back but it wouldn’t be my number one pick for brunch.
