Fountain Cafe

I’ve been wanting to check this place out and was disappointed when we finally did. It was $ 32 for 2 BLTs with side fries and an order of cheese fries with drinks. Personally if you’re charging $ 9 for a sandwich a side should be included not extra. The bacon was rubbery like it was microwaved. I also asked for non toasted bread and got toasted. That shows me someone wasn’t paying attention to the order because it clearly didn’t say toasted and my husband’s did. BLT sandwiches should be crunchy not chewy. We’re not sure if it’s worth a second chance.

Stopped by based on Unilocal and the close proximity to the Mt Pleasant KOA. Pretty diverse menu with lots of great choices. There is ample seating in this very clean restaurant. The staff was very friendly. They took your order at the counter and the delivered the food to whichever table you sit at. Our group of 5 ordered a black and blue burger, cheeseburger, Carolina burger, hot dog and a pimento cheese BLT. All was fresh and hot when served to our table. French fries were terrific! Great prices and a great find!

Love this place!!! We eat here at least once a week. Burgers are awesome and huge. You also need to try the chicken salad on a salad. The bbq is done very well.

The black bean burger is delicious and the guys at the front are very friendly and helpful! Great meal, great service, and good prices. What more can you ask for?

This is a good place to take kids. I second the previous reviewer who said that it’s nice that it doesn’t have a bar that you have to explain the language coming out of to the kids. The food was good, not great. But again, for a kid-​friendly establishment I was happy.
The only thing was that the teens running the place were sort of ditzy. They had trouble with the order and then kept having us change our order because it turned out they were out of things.

Nice place and the food was really good. It’s Sunday and they are open despite Unilocal indicating they are closed.

Tucked in the corner of Oakland center is this little splash of happiness! You will feel like you are at your best friends for lunch… Food is awesome, I’m hooked on the chicken salad… Fresh off the smoker BBQ and homemade pimento cheese for starters… LOL…Family friendly and Yummy food!

Place is kind of hidden next to wild wings, but if you find it, it’s worth the stop. Large space has the feel of an old school diner/​soda fountain. The food was the best part through. Had the pulled pork sandwich, and it was delicious. Piled with lots of pork and smothered in their homemade sauce and then topped with their homemade slaw. I mean piled with pork. I had to get a fork to eat what I couldn’t keep on the sandwich. Definitely deserves the five stars.

Couldn’t have been more surprised with the Pulled Pork sandwich. It is styled as a 50’s style soda fountain, and the menu definitely does not make you think the BBQ will be as great as it is. When the sandwich came out, I looked for BBQ sauce as it didn’t appear there was much on the sandwich itself. I decided to try it without adding any, mainly because I couldn’t find any, turns out it was phenomenal the way it prepared. I love pulled pork and have had a ton of it in my life, this was easily one of the better sandwiches I’ve EVER had.

It takes courage to open a sandwich shop a stone’s throw from an established East Bay Deli and a Wild Wing Café. We tried the new Fountain Café today. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich that comes with a side of cole slaw for $ 8. The pork was plentiful on the fresh bun and it had a pleasant smoky Bar-​B-​Q taste. The slaw was okay.
Sophia had the Greek salad with a scoop of chicken salad. She said it was delicious.
The iced tea was $ 1.50 and it appears they use Luzianne because it was a good quality tea. But they did not have any lemons for my tea or for Sophia’s water.
They have a nice selection of burgers, hot dogs, hot and cold sandwiches, and salads., all reasonably priced. It’s a good place to take the kids.
Unfortunately, their ice cream is Blue Belle, which has been in the news lately for a listeria outbreak in other parts of the country. We didn’t try the ice cream.

Best sandwiches around. Fresh, hot, and delicious. Huge portions. Reasonable prices. Love this place. Hope to see it here for awhile!

This is my first time dining @ Fountain Café. The food is excellent! I ordered the Carolina Burger and it was delicious… comes with pasta salad or you can upgrade to fries. Highly recommended!!!

Popped in here after another family Saturday adventure and were looking for something small business. This place was really cute– very retro diner kind of feel. Not a ton of seating but VERY kid friendly. We were able to find a little table and set up shop.
I loved that there isn’t a HUGE menu– but what they have is amazing. I went with the BBQ pork sandwhich (usually comes with slaw, but they were out today. Hence why they only got 4 stars– I love slaw) and my husband got the Carolina Burger. I’ve never seen the man eat a burger as fast as he did with this one. Seriously.
The only downside was that the service was a little slow– it looked like they were short a person and it got really busy really quickly. Other than that, I would most definitely go back again. At the very least to see what the coleslaw situation is like!

Fabulous food, the place was newly opened and they were coming around to see what we like; any suggestions„ etc. Good menu, good pricing and flavorful food. Definitely going back.

We’ve been to the Fountain Café twice this week. First time I had the BBQ, and it was awesome. The potato salad on the side rocked. Next time I had the Haddrell’s Melt. Sooooo good. The homemade chili makes the chili cheese fries sensational. I love having a place that has great food that I can go either very casually dressed or before the movie on a date night! Prices are great. Can’t wait to try other menu items.

Wow. Went to the Fountain Café for lunch. Just tried the incredible BBQ sandwich. Needed a bit more BBQ sauce which they happily provided. Coleslaw was mayonnaise based, crispy and good. Will definitely explore more of the menu. Burger and salads as well as hot dogs. Thought the quality was great. Very fair pricing. Seems like a great place for kids with an ice cream menu and a game area.
