David the owner was kind at first until he was caught in telling me two different stories. I was driving along 526 and the car in front of me swerved to miss a huge object in the road and I instantly veered to try and miss the object however due to the traffic I ran up on and over the object sending my jeep into two wheels and almost crashing the vehicle. When I landed back and continued driving I started hearing a bad clanging noise coming from under my gear shifter in my transmission. I got home safely and very slow, I called a body shop told them the story and they said call east cooper transmission they are the best in town. I then called geico and filed a claim and they had it towed to east cooper transmission. David told me that day that it would be about a day to diagnose and tell me what’s wrong with it, that was 9 days ago. Each day when I call he tells me «when your at the best and busiest shop in town, well sir you just have to wait we are getting to it» so I have been patiently waiting without a car or rental car. Upon first diagnosis he tells me that it’s «normal wear and tear»(105k miles on the jeep, not that much) then I ask him if it’s normal wear and tear then can the bearings or such just«come out» he says«no way. They are packed in there so tight that they don’t come out» yet I ask him what about blunt force trauma to which he responds«i don’t know that’s up to between you and your insurance company» I laughed and said«well aren’t you the transmission expert» he just kept saying the same statement. So now he has me bc my transmission is in his shop torn apart so I can’t move it. Now comes the real kicker. I call him on the 10 day and he tells me «oh ye we opened it up and there is some water in there that has corroded the bearings and that is the sound» I say we live in the low country and around water all the time, what does that have to with before the accident I am driving along just fine and 2 seconds after the accident I hear noise. You ready for this he replies«I don’t know, that’s between you and your insurance company» I say«WHAT?! Aren’t you the „best in town“ and aren’t you the transmission expert, I mean who else would know» he says«I don’t know» then I tell him«david you just told me two different stories, first you tell me there is some water on the bearings next you tell me you«don’t know» how it could be fine one second before accident and the next second after its not yet your the«expert» and then he yells and says«I AMNOTHAVINGTHISCONVERSATION» and hangs up the phone on me. So BEWARE of East Cooper Transmission as not only are they shady but they«dont know» an answer yet they are the«supposed experts» David never called back as I had to call him daily, yet each time«oh I will call you tomorrow he said» yet I was always the one calling. Finally had to get an attorney involved!!! Now after THREE weeks and my attorney getting involved i was able to move the jeep to another QUALITY transmission shop where it got fixed PROPERLY and the INSURANCE paid it just fine. East Cooper Transmission is the worst ever. BEWARE!!!

We brought our Mazda 5 here last summer(May 2013) and after several weeks in their shop they finally told us it was ready. It wasn’t. But they assured us that the warranty network they were a part of would cover us. It didn’t. Our car spent several more months in shops but was ultimately never fixed, the warranty company never did anything other than waste our time and try our patience, and we ended up selling the car(in November 2013) for $ 3000. $ 2000 less than Kelly Blue Book and about the same price that East Cooper charged us for their work. In all, it would have been better for us to have lit our car on fire than to have taken it to East Cooper Transmission. And if you are considering whether to take your vehicle here or sell it for scrap I highly advise you to save yourself the trouble.

Went in to have a quote on my car. They were easy to work with and candid about the amount of work that needed to be done. They will look over your car and give you a quote for free, but they are a bit more expensive than other shops in the area.
