Driving down I-55 you may not think twice at getting off at the Mt. Olive exit, but you should. Taylor & Soapes is an adorable shop on the quaint main drag of this quiet town with a lot to offer! In the main room Donna, the owner, sells Pandora along with many other awesome accessories, jewelry items and knickknacks. As you walk through to the back section you will see a bank vault door that is open and displaying a bright room full of baby clothes and accessories. Around the corner is another display area that is aesthetically drawing you in with rotating items. Then comes the best part. The back portion of Taylor & Soapes is the tea room. The food is fantastic to say the least(from special soups of the day to wraps and unique salads, you can’t go wrong!). Two of my favorite things are the grilled chicken sandwich on wheat berry bread and the fruited chicken salad. The lobster bisque and Tomato Basil soup are also phenomenal, especially with this cool weather! There is no «wrong choice» when it comes to the menu options and the portions are perfectly sized, you won’t leave feeling overly stuffed, but happily full. The desserts are on a whole different level. Donna tends to hand make many of the dessert options that come out on a presentation platter at the end of your meal. The Cherry Cobbler and«Girlfriend» cake are outstanding(this has layers of carrot cake, red velvet, and Italian cream cake). Every person that works here is friendly and accommodating, ready and excited to cater to your every fancy! This is worth taking a small detour for!
