Had to wait for more folks to fill the table prior to getting our order in so that means it was about 45 minutes later before the chef came over. Food was way too greasy and made me feel sickly all night long. I agree with other reviewers about the inflated prices for a lot of rice and small amounts of meat. Need I say more? Stay away, you’ve been duly warned!

I wish I could give ZERO Stars but this is not an option. To echo what so many others have said about Okinawa, I can sum up in one word DISGUSTING! We went with a Groupon a short while back and the sushi rice was hard, there were bugs on the sushi bar and floor. The fish was really«fishy» and the overwhelming odor of grease was nauseating. How this place remains open is a mystery. If Okinawa was located in NYC their grade would be an «F». So if you decide to try it, I told you so!

Came here with my best friend and fiancé 09÷22÷14 and we thought it was gonna be great, we ordered apps which were OK and sushi which was a train wreck, the waitor was sweet and very innocent so we tried to be nicer about the situation, frost off we waited 45 minutes for the sushi rolls because the waitor sat down and ate his own meal with his pregnant girlfriend who managed the place, so I decided this place sucked so I read the reviews here on Unilocal and I called the waitor and asked him if he knew anything about the bad write ups so he takes my phone and starts reading the reviews over the table while we’re eating it’s disgusting and unprofessional never coming back

Anyone that gives this place more is generous. The hot food was cold, the cold food was luke warm and gnats were biting us at the very inner part of the restaurant. The service was a joke. They would ask if we were ready to order as soon as we sat down — u mm we haven’t even looked at the menu yet? I’m definitely not coming back if for no other reason than to avoid food poisoning.

come here for the hibachi! i always get the chicken and shrimp hibachi with fried rice & noodles. sometimes it takes a bit for the hibachi chef(for lack of a better title) to come to your table and i believe there is only one who works here but when he does, it’s great. the show they put on is a little annoying but it can be funny to interact with the chef. it’s geared more towards kids, however(and there are PLENTY of them at this restaurant which is another downside) AND he sprays you unexpectedly with water which i found really annoying. but besides all the theatrics, the food on the hibachi is pretty great. the fried rice and noodles are amazing, superior to benihana as is the shrimp and the chicken. i would suggest ordering these. i also love the sauce, even though i don’t know how to describe it. they usually come with two sauces but i ask of two of the same sauce, it’s like a gingery-oniony sauce. i LOVE it and it tastes amazing with the shrimp and chicken. i have no complaints about the food. of course it’s not fine dining, but the hibachi is so cravable that it keeps me coming back. i have never eaten NOT hibachi here, so i can’t offer you any opinions on that menu. something tells me it wouldn’t be that great.

Beware the all you can eat sushi — double the rice and half the fish and they charge you for the rice you didn’t eat… poor service also. Avoid for sushi, at least the all you can eat…

Just about everything was off. The waiter would not accept my Groupon coupon until he checked that is was not the Ok’wa. in Ossining(using my iPhone to check on the website), Chard was warm, fizzy(and way over-priced), miso soup was not hot, and the main course of steak and chicken was dry chicken and 3 quite small pieces of overdone steak. There was a side of fried rice which an earlier reviewer raved over. Not so mine– greasy and tasteless. I can honestly say this is one of the worst Japanese dinners I’ve ever had

My teenage daughter organized a large group of friends to eat on a Saturday night. She made a reservation and was promptly seated at the Hibachi table where she waited over 50 minutes for a chef to show up to cook the meal. No concern or explanation from the hostess or waitress. Once the chef showed, food preparation was rushed, with small portions and inflated prices. The staff took advantage of a group of young ladies and ruined what was supposed to be a nice experience that they were all excited about. Thanks for nothing Okinawa and you just lost the business of eight local families.

Ok peeps… if you Trust me… TRUST me. STAYAWAY. The groupon for $ 45 worth of food for less than $ 20 should have tipped us off but we went anyway. Monday night and there were two hibachi tables and two small tables of ppl already eating. NO drink specials or house wines, everythng is basically $ 7.95 a glass/$ 30 a bottle. I never get mixed drinks from these joints b/c its like a juice box with no liquor therefore stick to wine or beer. I had a 24oz Ichiban whatever for $ 7. Prices were wack for drizzinks. SIster ordered soup, salad and«steak» pot stickers which smelled great but were only ok – meat looked like questionable feline brand. My girl got the crab salad which was bland as all hell and I could tell by the lack of color– no spicy mayo or decent flavor, just dull crabmeat and cucumber in japonaise(yeah creepy.) I ordered three spicy rolls of yellowtail, salmon and scallop. The damn scallop roll was pushing $ 9…um wtf? thats a semi-basic roll which i have never paid more than seven bucks for. My rolls came out within 20 mins or so and I dove in. Yellowtail was decent, scallop was eh, not much flavor and barely any spicy mayo and salmon was … O_o HOLY there is Something wrong here!!! I have had funky tuna in recent times around the area but this was the first time that the salmon was extra fishy and reminded me of low tide on Cape Cod; for those who know what I’m talking about, that’s the smell/taste of ‘ocean rot.’ Told the waitress there was something not so goody about the salmon and she tried to convince me that maybe it was ME who wasn’t liking it bc it was«fresh said the chef» but no Mey Ling… I eat sushi on average three times a week. In fact, I had it for Lunch right before coming to Okinawa for dinner! I know my fish goddamnit and this was rancid ! Thankfully they took it off the bill without a problem. Still tipped her well b/c she did her job and without issues. Would I ever come back? NOWAYJOSE! I was sitting in bed burping that sea-mess for the rest of the night. I’m almost in the clear of not getting any further illnesses but I would never go back. Nothing great and even the ‘special rolls’ are completely uninspired and sound like reg hand rolls at twice the cost. I’ll stick to Samurai in Croton and Yama Fuji in Briarcliff spank you!

My family and I have been to this restaurant many, many times and have always had a good experience. We do not sit by the hibachi table; always on the other restaurant side. The food is always good and we have never had any trouble with the service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Sushi is always good and also hot dishes.

Roaches in the salad!!! Need I say more? We came in with 15 people ready for hibachi fun/food. Instead, my son was served his salad with a roach inside! It was disgusting!!! We quickly left & I plan on calling the board of health. I can’t imagine how many roaches are in that kitchen!!! STAYAWAY!!!

It should give you a hint how desperate we are around here for a decent hibachi restaurant that Okinawa has any encouraging reviews at all. Honestly, the place is a consistent disappointment, but it’s the only hibachi place for miles around, so it wins by default. The tables are cramped together in a way that seems to defy fire codes; if you’re not seated next to the main aisle, better hit the rest room before you sit down because you’ll be trapped until your meal is over otherwise. Service is sketchy; on busy nights, there always seems to be only two waiters on hand for the entire restaurant. The one bright spot are the hibachi chefs, who make an effort to spin their script with enthusiasm. Kids love this place, and the food isn’t completely awful, so it’s not a complete tragedy. But it’s hardly what I would call the best dining experience on earth, and I’d happily pay double for the chance to bring any Beni Hana I’ve ever visited to Mount Kisco as a replacement for this restaurant.

We take the family here for celebrations. It’s one of our favorite places. It’s always fun and the food is good. I don’t think I could do it every weekend but once in a while it’s great fun. Always a good show, good food and service.

The location is great, the interior décor & lay out isn’t terrible, the chefs were entertaining… but the food isn’t so great. The meat, is the worst. The noodles were as if they were from any other Chinese joint. The veggies — sauteed in oil, soy sauce, and what I believe was rice wine vinegar. The meat was prepared the same, so it tasted like cooked meat without any taste of an authentic Japanese flavor. Service was pretty poor, too. I would not recommend this restaurant, even if it is tempting as a child friendly dining experience.

Now, if you are still looking at reviews here, your probably thinking, «Wow, this place sucks.». Now, I want you to get your wife/girlfriend to come over and slap you in the face. This place is absolutely fantastic, with the best shrimp I have ever tasted. I can’t count the number of times I’ve come to the place and I’ve always chuckled at the act. Fire arising from the hibachi table really wants to make you and especially your kids eat(trust me, I know). There are some complaints about bad sushi, but here’s the thing: It’s not really meant to be a sushi bar. This is a steakhouse, and the meat is fabulous. If your smart and go to the restaurant, I’d recommend the chicken and steak combo. And make sure you get your rice fried, because it’s just plain awesome. If your a person who can’t stand things like this entertainment they have regular seating which is convenient. Please, PLEASE take my advice, and go to that restaurant ASAP.

Lord help me, my kids love this place so I’m there A LOT more than I’d like to be but I suppose it could be worse. If you’ve ever been to a hibachi restaurant before, you know exactly what you’re going to get here. The hibachi food as well as the sushi are fine. Let me put it this way: I’ve definitely had worse. And while I don’t find the waitstaff as bad as some of the other reviewers, I will say that the main issue I have with Okinawa is that the service is inconsistent. For instance: At times, they’ll let me order yellowtail for the hibachi and other times they tell me that they don’t do that. Any statements to the effect of «But you’ve done it for me before» will fall on deaf ears. Another weird example: I went with my family today and several family members turned down the shrimp appetizer included with their meal. When another member of our party asked for them, he was told by the chef that it was not included in their meal(even though the person whose meal it was included with said it was fine for them to have it. Strange. Add to that the fact that the prices are kind of high and you might be better off at Gasho a few miles away. It may be too late for me(thanks to the kiddies) but there still might be hope for you!

I went here for sushi, haven’t tried the hibachi. I wouldn’t recommend it, and probably won’t come back. It’s not that it was bad, it just wasn’t great. We ordered some appetizers(shumai, veggie dumplings and edamame) all of which were not that great. Also the shumai and dumplings were not that hot. I ordered sushi rolls which were okay, not bad. My father got the duck, which is he said was good but the vegetables it came with were cold. There are so many other good sushi places(like Sushi Mike’s and Yama Sushi), skip this one.

We went for my birthday a few weeks ago. After we sit down and ordered a nice bottle of cold Sake(not really«nice»… Sho Chiku Bai Nigori-style, tasty but. yeah), and open it, we order. They didn’t have tuna. We ask about a different roll. They didn’t have salmon. A sushi place that doesn’t have salmon and tuna? Seriously? How can you let that run out? We left the half drank sake on the table and left. A shame too, because years ago I had a wonderful party here with some friends, but. yeah, this place is poor. NYC prices with no quality to back it up. No tuna? No salmon? Pass.

If you’re going for the hibachi, you’ll have fun and eat well. If you’re going for sushi though, I can’t reccomend. Have tried it a few times now and ordered multiple tolls, but still haven’t found one that I’ve been impressed with. And for the prices they charge, I expect much better.

Fine for young kids’ birthday parties but otherwise avoid. Beni Hana type hibachi turns out edible food, but people go for the show. Sushi is secondary here. Noisy.
