Flashbacks from The Ford Place Restaurant

Our favorite place in Montgomery County to eat. The filet last night was superb! Love the flat iron steak and the chicken livers.

Great steak find! Fabulous old FORD dealership. Incredibly friendly staff. Our steak and baked potatoes were awesome. Ask for the homemade rolls (made daily) and apple dumpling. Delish!

Ok the food is a solid 2 stars but the restaurant was charming and clean. I’d rate it a 4 star for the charm. So I went with meet in the middle 3 star.
The salad bar was fresh with the top about 10 – 12 typical items for a salad with 6 or so salad dressings… I will add that to the 4 star side. But that’s it!
I ordered a rib eye that was literally ¼ inch thick… maybe!!! I had about 8 bites before I couldn’t eat anymore as it was all fat! I left at least 4 ounces of fat on the plate. I was served a scoop of mash potatoes that looked to be about 2 Tablespoons serving size that tasted to be made the day before. The herb roll was impossible to eat.
Not worth the price they charge!!!
Then I was ordered a desert as I felt totally disappointed with my entrée and hoped dessert could redeem itself!
NO IT DID NOT!!!
I literally was served a 2×2 inch square piece of cake that was maybe ½ inch thick with 4 small paper thin slices of strawberries with about a tablespoon of whip cream on the side of the cake. The cup of coffee I was served was burnt tasting and tasted like it had been made hours prior and sat on heat for hours.
Absolute disappointment and I simply will never go back!
The town is small and has several Antique shops scattered down the Main Street… it’s past hustle & bustle long gone. For prices they charge for their food… I’d expect better.

This is one of the nicest restaurants in the area. A charming little Americana establishment that’s very convenient to Lake Tillery.

This is a very nice find in this area, the food was very good but the beer selection is very limited especially the craft beer selections, I believe they had Fat Tire, Goose Island IPA, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, plus a couple of the crafty brews. If you are in the area of Mt. Gilead be sure to give this place a try. The lunch buffet is very good.
