It is not just cars. It is lots of stuff. Collections of stuff. Every inch has a collection. Even a pair of Madonna’s panties. Old funeral stuff. Car hops. Airlines stuff. Lots more. At least an hour if you are interested. It is a place like no other.

The Mount Dora Museum of Speed is the result of years and years of collecting classic cars and vintage retro items. It is a private collection that’s available for the public to see at $ 12/person. While it is essentially one big showroom, there are thousands of items to see. You definitely need to walk through slowly and carefully to take in everything. This was an interesting spot for us. Chris likes cars and I like vintage stuff– so it appealed to us both. We also needed some time to kill out of the sun, and it is all indoor and air conditioned which is great compared to your average outdoor car show. I think I have gotten some of the worst sunburns of my life at car shows! Anyway there are a good amount of cars– classic American muscle cars, a few fast european cars, and(my favorite) a few hearses that have retired from their careers. They really encourage you to take a step back in time to remember what life was like in the mid 20th century. I can’t say I remember that since I wasn’t born yet, but I still appreciate everything for what it is. One of the best parts for me was Wally the persian cat that hangs out in the front entry. A friendly cat with an unforgettably cute face!

Nice little museum — but very small — one room and only 20 cars — good for 30 minutes — expensive for $ 10.
