I’ve been going to The Rec for years. Never had a bad meal or service. I grab a burger usually once a week there and they are awesome! Prices are great and the service is friendly and helpful.

Found a groupon and took advantage of the bad weather to take the kids bowling. This place is excellent, from the layout, to the prices, the food, and best of all the service. We had burgers which were great, $ 4 domestic pitchers, and a waitress running all over the place for us. Maybe not the best family place as its small and the little ones get in the way, but they definitely made us welcome and took care of us all day. What a great snowy Sunday!!!

After being in the area for years someone recommended the REC bowl so we gave it a try. Needless to say the burgers here are excellent. This is quite a local favorite as while we were there many people walking from the neighborhood over to grab a burger and a beer. The service was excellent we also tried the fish which was very good definitely recommend the Rec bowl if you’re in the neighborhood. Don’t know that I would drive out of my way to eat here. But you can’t go wrong if you are nearby.

While in town for a family wedding, we planned on meeting a few old friends here to catch up on our lives. I wasn’t sure how many would show up but knew there would be at least 8 of us. Although it was very crowded for a Thursday night and we had never been there before, Patti, the owner, was very accommodating and offered us a few choices to sit and eat in areas of the restaurant that weren’t too loud so we could have a nice visit. At our request, we ended up on the outdoors patio which I don’t think they planned on opening that night. Denise, our server was great. She obviously loves her job and is very good at it. Our group eventually expanded to 16. Some of us ate, some of us didn’t. She kept up with each person’s arrival and made sure we were all well attended to. We never had to go looking for her and all our meals were correct no matter how complicated we made it for her. Patti’s husband, Fred was a most gracious host. He came by to make sure the lighting and sound system was just right for us and to make sure we were having a good time. We all felt part of the family by the time we left.

Monday — Burger, Fries & a draft beer or soft drink — $ 5 all day. Other specials and events are listed on the paper calendar at each table. Their burgers are always excellent. I haven’t really ventured too far into their menu other than for the burgers, and other daily sandwich lunch specials. However, I tried a cup of their sauerkraut and kielbasa soup the other day and I eventually found my tongue licking the inside of the cup, it was sooo good! This has been a destination lunch & dinner spot for many of the neighboring streets. It’s worth stopping in to have a bite if you’re in the area.

The Rec Bowl is a neighborhood icon. Been around for decades and keeps reinventing itself to fit the needs of the neighborhood. Great burgers and fries friendly team of people willing to help you out and make your event a success. Reasonable pricing, and you can make deals if you call ahead for a party. Enjoy this little piece of «hometown»… Sláinte!

Oh the Rec Bowl… a diamond in the rough. If you’re from Mount Clemens. you know about this awesome family owned business. If generations and generations of your family are from the Clem area. they also know about the Rec Bowl and probably know the entire Fox Generation also. It really is a ‘Cheers’ of Mount Clemens. Where everybody knows your name(and it’s a good thing!) Small bowling area with only 8 lanes. but has a huge patio where in the summer local talent plays and patrons can enjoy the luxury of a huge patio bar with cold drinks and daily food and beverage specials. The Rec Bowl is just a huge family atmosphere. personal pictures line the wall outside the bathroom and if you go outside, there are personal sayings from patrons that are painted on the wall. You really do feel like family when you come here. Feel all good don’t you? Let’s get to the good part… FOOD! FOOD! FOOD! Sliders are da BOMB!(Do people say that anymore?!) Again, just like my review for Green Dot… If I’m around people that don’t judge, I could eat probably 10 in one sitting. But don’t just get a the sliders… Rec Bowl has an amazingly huge menu of all sorts of bar food that you have to try atleast once. Sit at the bar and you can watch the cook prepare your meal on a little flat top grill. Keep the grease on the grill because it literally makes all the food that much better. Must Try: Fried Cauliflower, seasoned waffle fries, double decker. well hell all the burgers(and even the turkey burgers are fab), Sourdough turkey melt and my all time favorite the Cucumber pita with tzatziki. They also have themed nights and on Mexican night they have amazing tacos with rice and beans. And how cute are the owners. they even name their patios after themselves: the Freddi-o is the small outdoor patio by the bathrooms where people can enjoy their many drunken cigarettes and still enjoy the game with the TV and the Patti-o is the big patio on the side where you can enjoy the big bar and live music. Oh. and let’s talk summer. If you’re downtown Mount Clemens for their fireworks presentation for the 4th of July. please walk your happy drunk butt to the Rec and enjoy a nice cold beer. Most nights they have someone out their grilling good ol’ summer meat like Ribs. Ribs. and more Ribs. I don’t know if I can hype up this little gem anymore than this. If you’re a newbie you might come in and wonder what all the hype is about. But as a Clemmite, and my dad growing up in the Clem with his own experiences with the Rec Bowl, this is a personal treasure and a place that I take all my out of town friends. Their famous saying is ‘You stick around here long enough, good things will happen’. Doesn’t this raise your curiosity just a little bit. Come on down… we don’t bite.

The RECBOWL Bar & Grill in Mt. Clemens, MI was very interesting to say the least. It was part bowling alley, part bar, and part jazz patio. You heard me right, jazz out on the patio. The place was packed to the gills and we were the youngest cats in there by about 20 years. The kitchen is about the size of a Ford Fiesta and the griddle was slammed the entire night. The burgers were nice and sloppy, just the way a bar burger should be. The Bacon Cheeseburger came with onion, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, and American cheese. Burger — 3.5 Price — 4 Service — 3 Overall — 3.75 The«Rec» Burger is their rendition of a classic burger. Burger — 2.5 Service — 2.5 Price — 3 Overall — 2.5 The burgers lacked flavor and our glasses were empty longer than what a guy would like. The burgers came with waffle fries that are a must if you venture out this way. I don’t know if it was just this particular night but I am shocked they let us in without having an AARP card.

Never thought to go to the rec bowl for anything but bowling… but…went there to grab some food right quick one day on a sunday when everything in Mt Clemens is closed or we eat it all the time, so we decided to do some exploring. What a great place to grab a bite to eat. We will definitely be back. I had the burger and it was great.

Love Freddy… love the burgers. We only live in the area for 6 months a year, so when we get back to town this is one of the first places we go. The patio is fun and Freddy has some pretty good music, very enjoyable.

From what I understand, the Rec Bowl has a been a pillar of Mt. Clemens for many, many years(around 30 or 40, I think). It’s easy to see why. A totally relaxed setting — some bowling lanes, a few dart boards, 2 bars(only 1 was open at lunch time, though). No music playing — just TYRA on one of the TVs in the main dining area. Rec Bowl claims to be famous for their«Rec Burger» — ¼ lb hand formed burger. I ordered mine with pepper jack cheese & sliced green olives. Yeah, it’s a decent bar burger. Wasn’t asked how I wanted it cooked, so the burger came out well done. Still, it didn’t taste like a hockey puck. The olives were tangy & briny. The cheese was spicy. The patty was obviously hand formed. Sure, there was some care put into this burger, but it didn’t blow me away. I also had a bowl of chili. It was good, but nothing incredible. Decent spice, a tad smoky, but nothing memorable. Rec Bowl looks like it would be a great place for a group who wanted more than just just food. There’s also a «Freddio» open during the summer, which is Rec Bowl’s version of a covered patio. Good food, cheap beer, and lots to do — nothing wrong with that.
