We love eating here! The best bbq, hushpuppies, salad and dessert! Our favorite is the hickory sauce. A couple can eat here for a little over $ 20 and have leftovers! Waitresses are awesome(Tabitha). This place is awesome! Rodney and Melissa

Food is great! Your drink will never go empty here! The serving staff check on you and make sure everything is to your liking. If you are in the area, definitely stop by this place for a quick and relatively inexpensive meal! There’s usually enough that you will have leftovers too.

I targeted Little Richards as a place for lunch as we travelled from Morehead, Kentucky to the Triangle area by way of Greensboro. Timing was perfect. We arrived at Little Richards just before noon and found a fairly new place that seemed to be pretty popular. I say new because it did not have the feel of one of those venerable old joints. I don’t profess to know the deal with the various places called Little Richards, but since this one is billed at Lexington Style, I assume there is some link to one in Lexington. I started with Brunswick Stew. On the long list of things of which I lack expertise, you will find Brunswick Stew. It seems to be a 50:50 proposition whether I will like it or not. This version, I liked mainly because it was not sweet. Sweetness in balance with tart is a key, I think, and Little Richards got it about right. I might have liked just a splash of lemon. The vegetables were not cooked to complete mush and seemed to be fresher than canned Veg-All. The seasonings were good, simple and not overdone. Ms T ordered Smoked Wings as her lunch. The ordering process for these was confusing for first timers and we really did not understand the options, but with the exception of one wing that apparently was left over from another day, they were pronounced to be very good with pleasant smoke and a sweet sauce. I had to do the macho thing and ordered the large size chopped barbecue sandwich. I know better, but ate the entire thing, half of which I did not need. I was hungry, I thought. It came with good creamy slaw(you can also get BBQ slaw, I assume more Lexington style). The meat was a medium chop and was moist. There is a choice of sauces and I wanted the vinegar. This was clean, pure meat, served without any outside or brown. The pork was pretty mild, I wanted more pork flavor. Nevertheless, I added a little Texas Pete and definitely enjoyed this sandwich. My turnip greens were OK. They needed a little salt and some vinegar. They get a little turnip-y for me, I prefer collards. I rate Little Richards 3−½ stars. It was good, solid barbecue and a good value. I can’t quite go to four stars but they can stay on my list for sure.

We’d searched BBQ places in Greensboro, then decided to check Mt Airy… so glad we did! Have to mirror the previous great reviews: the brisket might be the best east of TX, the pulled pork was moist & well-seasoned with E Carolina vinegar based sauce, the ribs were meaty– no fat– and tender. Loved the greens & corn fritters. And the Brunswick stew was very good, meaty. WAY too full to try the pecan cobbler but it sure looked good. Thanks Unilocalers for the reviews(you negative ones should consider just not eating barbecue… you don’t get it if you didn’t like this.)

After reading some of the other reviews I decided to give Little Richard’s a try. I had their chicken and ribs combo with their Brunswick stew. Excellent! The BBQ chicken was very good and NOT dried out. Nice and moist. The ribs had a nice char on it. Too much food! I’ll have a full lunch tomorrow.

Great BBQ chicken. After doing my homework looking for a good BBQ place to eat at on our trip to Statesville NC, I came across reviews for Little Richards that were overall quite good. Our visit was no exception to the great reviews. I had the smoked Hickory wings for a starter. Wow, were they ever great. I will judge all wings against these going forward. The rich sauce and deep smoke flavor and moist meat made for the best wings I have had anywhere. For Myron course I did the half chicken and pork combo with turnip greens, homemade chips and hush puppies. Again, the chicken(hickory) was OUTSTANDING. The pork was Lexington style and the low and slow smoking was evident in the rich pink coloring. It was good, but I have never been a big fan of vinegar based bbq sauces, and still am not. The greens were unique in that they had sugar or some other sweetener in them and this was a first for me. I prefer my greens nice and savory with a pork flavor. The chips were great and the hush puppies were quite good also. The table had a selection of sauces to choose from and a whole roll of paper towels ready for cleaning one’s self up after making mess eating the yummy BBQ.

There are very few BBQ places where the meat is always lean, but I’ve consistory had great BBQ here. The food is delicious, including the fries and hush puppies, which are perfectly cooked every time and never greasy. They have two styles to choose from — vinegar based and tomato based, and I love the hickory style BBQ sauce. If you’re in the mood for something other than pork, their grilled chicken is tender, juicy and flavorful. The portions are huge, especially for the price. The service is always excellent — prompt and accurate with tons of southern hospitality. Definitely check this place out next time you’re in town or craving some fabulous BBQ.

Very inviting and clean atmosphere. The staff were well presented, attentive, and very courteous. The prices were very reasonable and, best of all, the food was delicious with generous portions. Alex and Sam were both gracious and personable. Our party of 3 all agreed that we’ll be coming back often. Great chicken, sandwiches, and BBQ. Give Little Richards a chance… you won’t be disappointed. You’re welcome.

I would give this place 2 stars if not for the sides. I liked the turnip greens, slaw and hush puppies. I did not like the ribs or chopped pork. Neither had a good smoke flavor. Neither sauce was especially good perhaps it’s better for lunch? I would find put when the ribs are fresh and come then. I don’t think it would make much difference. It’s just not good BBQ.

Simple and solid. My wife and I both had chopped pork sandwiches. We couldn’t decide between the sweet BBQ sauce and the vinegar dip, so we went half and half. Vinegar is the way to go. The BBQ sauce is good, but that vinegar is amazing. The pork was juicy and tender. Add coleslaw, and a pork sandwich doesn’t get any better. We also had hush puppies and corn fritters. Both were good but nothing special. The service was also excellent.

The food is terrible. The photos in the menu are gorgeous and look delicious. What you get looks nothing like them… Where’s the restaurant where they took those photos? That’s where I want to go.

This place is awesome. My brother and I stopped here while driving from SC to NY and we were glad we did. We each had BBQ sandwiches on «bigger buns» and fried okra, and the sandwiches were so good that we each got another as soon as we were done. I’d never had BBQ slaw before, but it is much better than regular cole slaw. In addition to the food being great, all of the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially our waitress, Sam. And, when you’re ready to go, they pour your drinks into to-go cups, which may be a normal thing down there but I’ve never seen it before and it was pretty cool.
