ATTENTION! «VIP Speed Pass» means at least an unbelievable 2 hour wait! The group behind us actually sent someone to pick up pizza somewhere. After the house started, it was pretty good. There are food and drinks available onsite, but it would be nice to have the stand up in front where it can be seen, instead of at the end of the haunted house. That way the group behind me, or anyone else, wouldn’t have had to send out for food.

ZOMBIEMASSACREONVALENTINEWEEKEND? YES! I hate Valentine’s Day. Yes, I’m married. And that matters because??? I’m all about love but why do we need to buy each other flowers and candy and ridiculous stuffed animals on one day of the year? Or even at all? I’ll save you my rant, but the point is, V-Day isn’t my day. So when I heard that Unilocal North Shore was giving away some tickets to a Valentine’s bash, I nearly groaned. Then I clicked on the event link to read more and discovered it was actually some kind of anti-Valentine’s Laser Tag Zombie Massacre Bash. YES! I was SO in. I RSVP’d for the giveaway and a few days later, some of the tickets were mine(thank you, Angela S!!). And off I went to kill some zombies!!! The ‘arena’ is set up in the rooms and halls of Fear City’s haunted house. I’ve attended their haunted house two years in a row and loved it, so I was excited about playing laser tag with the zombies and dancing my butt off with some drinks. And that is exactly what I did. My husband and I met a few friends(shout out to Taylor M. and Misty!) at Fear City and only waited a short time before our group was called up to play a game. We were brought into a little hallway, given directions(zombies can try to attack us but we can shoot them) divided up into teams(blue and red), and given our equipment. The equipment was pretty simple: a velcro strap that goes over a shoulder with a few lights on it, attached to a heavy gun. Then we were released into the halls! We spent the next twenty-thirty minutes running through the different rooms(more like a maze) of the haunted house, trying to shoot the other team while keeping zombies off of us. Although the other team just stayed one in place and shot at us from hiding, and the zombies weren’t scary, it was fun! And felt so short. I was bummed when our time was up. I also had no idea who won the game, but I guess that doesn’t really matter when you’re having fun. We were allowed to play another game after all the other groups had a turn, so some of us stayed to wait, while others left. We passed the time with some beers and dancing to music(and also hula hooping…) with various zombies. The Cupid zombie was awesome. Even though the place wasn’t packed(I do wish there were more people dancing), the games were always full. The second game, which we didn’t get to play until 11:30pm, was much more fun than the first game. Both teams ran around more and we had a better idea of what to do. SOMUCHFUN. And what a fantastic way to use the haunted house space during the off-season! Thank you, Angela S. for the tickets!!!
