This place is fantastic! I stopped in here for the evening because my hotel was close by and I like low key places. This was my first time in Morro Bay and just wanted to getaway and I saw it was close and stopped in. I met so many cool chill people here and ended up playing pool with random people and just talking to to other patrons. Kelly Rae(Ray?) at the bar was so genuinely friendly and welcoming to everyone in the bar and was engaging in conversation with pretty much everyone. She also gave me a suggestion on my IPA for the night which I guess is the local one. I really felt right welcome in a place where I knew not a soul! I do these solo getaways from time to time which I love and have met so many nice people in random places, and the people I met here gave me so many cool tips on the area and the culture. I know I’m rambling and I know this isn’t my Facebook(haha), but thanks for a memorable time Kelly Rae, Harmony, Theresa, Ian and the other guy I played pool with! I’ll definitely be back to this place as soon as I can!

Great bar! Local crowd, and always a good time! Many draft, bottled and canned beers to choose from! Full selection of hard liquor and two great pool tables. Has an outside patio area for the smokers and to hang out and get some fresh air. The bartenders are all great. They have a pay it forward board where you can bank drinks or give some to someone else. They have a great happy hour and have a free pool night as well as other special days/events. I have been going here on and off for over 10 years and can tell you that I have never had a bad time here. There is a digital juke box so you can pick out some tunes or listen to what everyone else is playing. If you get hungry they have great pizzas and a few other items. Doesn’t get any better in North Morro Bay!

Who doesn’t love a good dive bar? Drinks are cheap, there’s pool tables, and you can put peanut shells on the floor. Best part may be the Thursday Movie Nights. Free popcorn, drink specials and a good movie projected on the patio wall. Always a good time! Such a great small town, friendly neighborhood bar.

Of course, It’s not the original Buoy, which was in downtown Cayucos. But they get five stars for keeping the name, and the memory of «Time Out» and Zane Mathias alive. I wonder if the owners know that this place originally did not even have a name. Locals simply called it the«Bucket Of Blood». It was, by far, the roughest place on the Central Coast, rougher even than the Circle Inn in Morro Bay, which had a fight between the Coasties and the Commercial fishermen almost every night.

Oh buoy! This was to be entry 2 in our local dive bar project. We walked out after tiring of being ignored. Quite the contrast to the Merrimaker where the bartender introduced herself and the owner greeted us and expressed appreciation for our patronage. No big deal; we went to Stax and enjoyed some draft beers and delicious paninis.

Yes, we know… it’s a dive bar. But they were OPEN when we arrived in town so we gave it a shot. We were pleasantly surprised — friendly, good booze selection, and did I mention they were open? A real plus for night-owls like us. I saw they have food, but were not serving when we arrived — but the booze is good, the beer is cold, and the staff is friendly… one thing though, the shots are a bit pricey, so watch out for that. Buying a round for a small crowd set us back a bit(to the tune of $ 100)… otherwise, great place!

I have lived in Cambria forever~ and have always wanted to stop at The Buoy as I can see it from the highway 1 on my way to SLO and home to Cambria. Yesterday, my friend and I decided to stop in for a cocktail(s). It looks exactly as I imagined it to, Vintage sea side collections, corrugated metal, warm, friendly, neighborhood feeling. The bartender was darling. She made us feel welcome and poured great drinks. I absolutely recommend this bar to anyone who loves a dive bar atmosphere, real people, real conversations and excellent cocktails for decent prices. It shows off the Real Morro Bay~

The cover picture is spot on, heated toilet seats! Low key, nice people, fun bartender and you can throw your peanut shells on the ground(not sure if you’re really suppose to do that). A startling find of this joint? Natty Ice on tap.

Best Dive bar in MB. 2 pool tables, cheap stiff drinks, peanut shells on the floor, and decent local scene. Currently, all the female bartenders have red hair. Great place to drink while you’re in town.

Definitely my favorite dive bar ever, maybe even my favorite bar.
