The newly remodeled library is very nice and a real gem in Morro Bay. It’s well layed out and furnished nicely. It even has a little bookstore. It is also noisy and difficult to read and study in: People with no manners talking in loud voices, including the librarians. I don’t think it’s supposed to be a social center but apparently that’s what some patrons have decided it is. On a recent weekend, a concert was being held with music that I’m pretty sure had limited appeal. I had to rate it down because of the noise level.

On a family vacation in Cayucos this summer I stopped by the library and found tables of books and CDs out front, with the opportunity to fill re-usable bags(like the kind most grocery stores now sell or give away as an alternative to paper bags) with as many books and CDs that fit, for something like $ 2 a bag. I found GRE(graduate record exam) study guides with computer software, a deck of GRE flash cards and a GRE study-guide book on tape(which is great since my car has a tape deck and lacks a CD player). At $ 2 for all of it, I saved almost $ 50 and/or time spent searching for /downloading free GRE study guides. I also found books on photography that are dated but perfect considering I use a variety of cameras from different decades. I’m definitely a fan of this library, if not just for their genius idea to recycle books(educate and inspire the community and its tourists).

I’ts a small town library but they have really fantastic collection of arts and literature books. Good selection of books on photograph, adventures, architectures… etc. I can visualize myself spending days here just absorbing information. Warm and cozy community feel to it and it’s near closing hour but I see kids and locals hanging out. Naturally I’m not expecting many tourists in here… I’m probably the only one. LOL. It looks like they have steady FREE reading events and sharing events too. Be sure to google for the official home page for more information. It also offers FREE24 hour wi-fi. The library hours are decent too: Mondays — Closed Tuesdays — 10am-7pm Wednesdays — 10am-7pm Thursdays — 10am-5pm Fridays — 10am-5pm Saturdays — 10am-4pm Sundays — Closed
