I was on vacation and forgot my blow dryer — needed to get prettied up before going out for our anniversary! My husband called Rio for me and spoke to Gina to schedule me a blow out. I was super happy and surprised to arrive at a beautiful salon and be greeted enthusiastically by Gina. She gave me a great aromatherapy shampoo and was very conversational and pleasant. She gave me a very pretty blow dry, and it didn’t take forever like sometimes happens when you go to a blow dry bar. While drying my hair, Gina even taught me a cool trick to get more shine in my hair using my dryer and brush at home. She is super knowledgable about products and trends and it sounds like she attends a lot of education and shows. If I lived in the area I would definitely come back regularly!

Just had my second massage here from Massage Therapist Mona McKelvey from Aloha Nui Bodyworks. Not only was it relaxing but Mona has relieved some ongoing pain I was experiencing due to my sitting/​driving/​flying hectic work schedule! I feel 100% again! Thank you Mona and Rio Spa!

Salon is absolutely beautiful. I needed a change and i had sarenna cut my hair. She is sweet and caring and makes sure you are absolutely happy with the finished product. She does amazing work and i will be going back to her all the time.

This salon was beautiful! I was hesitant to dye my hair because I’m so picky but Sarenna made sure she did her research and was well prepared and dedicated to give me the look I wanted! The ladies and gent that works there were wonderful and friendly :) I highly recommend this place and Sarenna as well!

I came to Rio salon to get eyelash extensions. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The extensionist Heather was fantastic. If you’re looking for A very natural look without any visible glue at a competitive price this is your place!

Caught in a hair crisis, I called Rio salon, just before closing time. Ezra, kindly and promptly invited me in to remedy the problem. Quickly and expertly, he turned a disaster into masterpiece. I love my hairstyle, and, my new hairstylist! Thank you, Ezra!

Love this salon! I’m a Cal Poly student who comes to get waxed with Heather and she is amazing! She’s been doing my brazilians since December. She’s clean, friendly and professional. She’s talkative and a sweet person. Waxing with her also isn’t painful compared to other places I’ve been to. Get waxed with Heather and she’ll take care of you :)

Today I had beautiful balayage by Gina and I absolutely love it. As a perfectionist myself, I really appreciate it when a stylist pays close attention to detail, and my hair was magically turned from platinum sun-​bleached ends to a beautiful, blended, natural blonde.

I can’t say enough good things about this salon and the stylists, Gina and Teri, who worked on my very stubborn hair! First off, they were able to get me in last minute on a Friday when a home color job went horribly wrong. When I arrived everyone was very friendly and welcoming, especially my stylist Gina. She is very attentive to detail and really listens to what you’re asking for. Because my hair is so difficult, I came back for a second round of toning and highlighting the next day and she and Teri teamed up to get my hair looking perfect before I walked out the door. I’ve been to a few salons on the central coast and I’ve got to say that Rio has been the most accommodating, friendly, and professional one yet. I will definitely be a return client. Highly recommend Gina and/​or Teri for color services.

Got a facial and eyebrow waxing with a shaping today. My esthetician Heather was wonderful and thank you Ezra for hooking it up.

I live in Alaska but whenever I come back to the central coast I always come to Rio Salon & Spa. The atmosphere and products are amazing. Monica gave me an amazing highlight and cut today using organic hair color and I LOVE IT!!! It’s prefect and I’m never disappointed. The salon is beautiful and staff is always friendly and seem to truly enjoying working there. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Rio salon has a unique upbeat vibe to it. I love the décor and the fact that they use a lot of organic and natural products.
I truly believe that rio has the best stylists in Morro bay. I have got my hair cut by Monica three times now, and my friends and family agree that its the best haircut I have ever received. Clearly she has a lot of experience. She was very attentive to my needs and did an amazing job with my difficult hair.
I wouldnt go anywhere else to get my hair cut, and I will definitely be back.

This was my second time at Rio. I had called that morning to see if someone could do hilites and haircut. Monica was available and I did not have to wait. I brought a picture of the haircut I wanted. I am very picky (I do admit) because I have tried so many stylist in many places and very seldom is it what I request. The hilites were perfect in color; however it was mostly in front and devoid in most of the back and side areas. I’ve never had my hair cut, where I am faced away from the mirror; except in this case. If I had been looking in the mirror while my hair was being cut I would have immediately noticed that she had cut one side of my head about 3 inches shorter than the other. There was no correction or even an attempt to make sure the cut was even all the way around. By the time I had paid the exorbitant $$$ fee and gotten home; only then did I notice that one side of my head had a patch of hair that was about ½ inch long. I was very specific when I sat down in the chair, and explained that I wanted the back cut with clippers and not scissors, I think she never listened to how I wanted my hair cut. My feeling is she may be a young stylist still learning, which is great and I admire Rio for giving someone the opportunity to learn. However, I will not be going back to Rio a 3^rd time,

I love my new haircut by Ezra, who listened to what I wanted and seemed to intuitively «get» me (a wash and wear girl, that’s me!) Wise beyond his years, Ezra knows that it’s the relationship between stylist and client that creates a great experience. Everyone at Rio seems to enjoy their work and works to create a positive environment. I’m so glad I found Ezra and Rio!

I’m actually from out of town and needed an emergency eyebrow wax done, and so I called and they set me up with Hannah Grodon. The salon was beautiful. Very homey, yet sleek and clean. Immediately I was offered tea or water. Once in Hannah’s hands, she did a great job. She was extremely sweet, and although I only come over to Morro on the weekends, I probably will keep going to her. Whilst talking, I asked if by chance there was anyone free to get a quick cut and style and she appointed me to Sarah Crowin. Sarah was wonderful! She was very patient with my long curly hair and gave it a much needed trim with layers. My experience with Rio was great, and I probably will be back again both for a cut and wax!

First experience at Rio was mediocre, staff is friendly and atmosphere was relaxing. But the haircut I requested turned horrible, hair was cut too short, certain areas the hair is longer and noticeably uneven! Very discouraging, specially since I paid $ 35 for a simple haircut… I receive better haircuts at cost cutter for half the price I paid at Rio…

Was seen last Saturday as a walk in, no waiting, Monica Sandt cut my hair. Great job! I will be back… Thanks.

I was able to make a reservation for one day ahead, although from out of town.
This place is ultra clean and cute– parking can be a little bit of a challenge but is located in a business district that has a lot of small boutique places.
Immediately coming in one of people who worked there rushed back to get the gal I had the appointment with and offered me some water or tea while waiting for her (which was only one minute).
I got a haircut and style for the going rate– Monica did a great job and offered me hair suggestions for my event when I was unsure. It was clear by the whole atmosphere that people like working in this environment.

Came in as a walk-​in on a recommendation from my hotel. Needed a quick men’s cut while travelling out of town on business. The place was very nice and Ezra did a great job.
