I finally had the chance to hike this trail this past weekend and I absolutely loved it. It was a little over 3 miles round-trip from the trailhead to the ocean and back. There was a little bit of a hill toward the end of the trail, but for the most part it was a fairly flat hike and super easy, which is great for families, beginning hikers, elder folks, etc. There is a restroom about ¼ of the way into the trail which is convenient. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. Rolling green hills, interesting trees, lots of birds, deer frolicking around, and of course gorgeous ocean views at the end of the trail. There are even benches along the way to sit and relax in nature. I’ll definitely be back to this trail and I look forward to it!

Perfect for a quick walk(it took us 75 minutes back and forth), but don’t expect a «hike», it’s quite flat and easy. I found the first part a bit boring to say the truth, just the dusty road and hills. Arriving at the ocean was nice, views are great, and you can walk along the coast for a little while. we could not find any passage to the beaches below but we did not stay much. Parking was easy but at 11AM there was only one spot left(and we got it). After that I saw that people parked up the US1.

Such a lovely and easy hike(more like a nature walk, really) with spectacular views of the ocean and cliffs. I was super bummed not to be able to bring our dogs, who would have loved it, but understood the environmental effects of repeated dogs on/near the trails. It’s clearly posted everywhere that dogs aren’t allowed, so it was a shame that we saw dogs on the trails with their owners who had clearly disregarded the postings. Boo on them, ruining it for the rest of us.

This was a great hike! Went around 4 pm in June. The weather was perfect! We only saw two other people on the trail. The best part was ending up at the ocean, so beautiful! You should definitely check this spot out if you’re traveling up or down CA-1. Easy hike, 4 miles round trip, really flat trail.

Great hike. Nice wide walking trails fairly flat to boot. Great for all fitness levels and kids too. Watch out for bears. Saw two long gopher snakes crossing the path. Had to hide in the port a potty for a few minutes.

Great walk, easy for all levels. The payoff is an unparalleled view of the coast, with not a person in sight! We took this trail twice around 7 am and did not encounter another soul. Fantastic!!!

Beautiful trail that ends at an ocean view that can’t be beat. It is a pretty easy trail that is good for most people. We’ve done this trail a few times, last time in the rain, even saw a few deer enjoying it with us!

This state park is a real gem! Just a bit over two miles hike to a breathtaking beach with wonderful views of the hills and landscape. An easy and leisurely hike/walk of only about 4 miles round-trip. Great for everyone! The grounds are well-kept with a port-a-potty having full amenities(urinal, toilet and washing station) at around 1 mile walk in. The park entrance is very easy to find; just off of highway 1 across from a place called Harmony. Harmony is a tiny town with population of less than 20 nestled between the Cambria and Cayucos. It’s especially nice during this time of the year since the wildflowers are blooming and the place is teeming with wildlife. There were wild hares, birds of all kinds, quails and lizards doing their little push-ups while bathing under the sun. On a clear day the view by the seaside is simply magnificent and mesmerizing. I saw people walking along the bluffs enjoying the view, a person resting by the beach to read and a couple sitting on the bench to have a picnic. There are some benches along the path and everyone seemed very happy and relaxed. It’s a storybook kind of place.

Probably the most inconspicuous State Park in California! Located about 3 miles south of Harmony(pop. 18) and about 4 miles north of Cayucos, the trailhead for this park is located right on Hwy 1. The parking lot can only fit about 10 cars, but it wasn’t crowded when we visited. A quiet out-and-back trail takes you from the highway to the ocean in less than 2 miles, and gives you sweeping vistas up and down the coast. Wild birds and plant life dominate the area, along with some lizards, beetles, and other bugs. The weather is sunny, windy, and foggy throughout the day, so it’s best to dress in layers. This spot is ideal for trail runners looking for a scenic and mostly flat trail. Hitting the ocean view is incredibly gratifying. I highly recommend completing this 4.5-mile round trip hike/walk and heading into Cayucos for some coffee, chowder, or smoked seafood. Regardless of the weather, this is an approachable park that should be relaxing for anyone.
