The food is not bad. Having grown up in the Bay Area I’ve been spoiled with some great Asian food spots. I really enjoyed their honey prawns and fried rice.

We’ve come to this restaurant about 8 or 9 times in recent months, obviously we like it. Our first visit was last winter, first impression was a bright, clean atmosphere, followed by a warm and welcoming staff member who greeted and seated us. Most tables were occupied and their foods started arriving. It looked like many had come about the same time. Our waitress took our order and our food started arriving in less than 10 minutes. As we’ve dined here a number of times we’ve had the happy fortune to try numerous menu items. We’ve been very pleased with the quality of food. 2 of us, 4 of us, at times 7 of us. High quality, efficient service, reasonably priced. 5 of us ate here tonight. Earlier in the day, planning this visit with friends my mouth was watering thinking about the meal. It was, as always, delicious. It’s a good bet that you’ll enjoy this restaurant too. I’m stingy with stars. I give a star for each thing that I consider excellent, so, 1 = atmosphere/cleanliness, 2 = price, 3= service, 4 = quality 5 = overall! 5 star Excellent and delicious. This is a delicious Morro Bay establishment.

I don’t like to write bad reviews, but something must be said. I saw all of the wonderful reviews about this place so my hubby and I thought to try it out. When we get there the place was very clean and the waitress was such a sweetie, welcoming and inviting. We ordered iced tea as we looked at the menu. Took that first sip and noticed It was instant iced tea and not brewed. Already bad sign #1. He got the orange chicken and chicken chow mien and I got the chicken chow mien. We were starving and started digging in. He took the first bite of the«orange chicken» and nearly choked, I thought that it was hot and he was hungry. He ate the 2nd and 3rd piece and still had this sour look on his face. I took a bite and noticed that it was definitely sour. like that commercial what if they served sweet OR sour chicken? i should have taken a picture of his face to show you the utter disappointment. To spend $ 30.00 on something that bad is not worth it! the chicken chow mien was just ok and was slightly burnt. We ordered 2 orders and it appears we only got 1, unless their portion sizes are super small. we are not ones to complain and send things back(although we probably should have) we finished it anyways even though it was not good. I let the waitress know, just so she knew and she can let the cook know. There were 5 other tables full of people that seemed to be enjoying their meals. I got the check and she said that she let the chef know, he said because we finished it and didn’t send it back, he was not goin to discount it. Which was fine, i kind of figured as much, I was not looking to cause a scene or try not to pay or get any kind of discounts. The waitress was so sweet and said she would have discounted something if she had any money from her tips to do so. They open at 4 and I am sure we were one of the first ones of the Day Needless to say, in the end, sweet waitress and great service but horrible food. We will not be going back.

Recently tried this place again after a bad experience a few years ago. We read the reviews and were hoping to have different experience. Our service was amazing, our waitress was super nice and the only one on the floor. The food on the other hand was less than amazing. We tried the fried rice due to the reviews, it was sub par at best. We will not be coming back for another few years. Which is too bad cause we prefer to keep our business local.

I love a good Chinese buffet and this was one of the best I have eaten in. I go back every time I visit Morro Bay.

We came in a little before 8 and the restaurant was pretty full. There was only one gal working the floor from what we could see, and she was doing an amazing job. I could tell she was stressed and busy but she kept her cool and every table seemed to be satisfied. I was very impressed. Props to her! The food was also amazing. I constantly crave the cream cheese won tons. I had the Orange chicken and that was also pretty good. My boyfriend had the spicy beef. I’m not much of a beef person, but I tried it. It didn’t taste as good as I thought, but that could also be because of my meat preferences. The only reason I put 4 instead of 5 stars is because we received our check well before we were finished eating. Other than that, I had an amazing experience. I’ll be returning very soon!

They deliver. That’s worth a couple of stars. Otherwise, the food is super bland and not at all what I would expect for the price. Pretty disappointed.

Amazing Food, Great Prices. Fully loaded cream cheese won tons(my favorite), tasty egg drop soup and everything has a wonder uniquely deliscious taste as well as presentation. Highly highly recommend! Also wonderful, local owners who are even more of a reason to go. Thank You for such heart warming service, comforting food, and a fun yet intimate atmosphere.

My first time trying this restaurant. Our server was very nice, she told us she was new, I thought she did a great job. I ordered the fried won ton appetizer, it came cold, I prefer it warm. My daughter ordered the cream cheese won ton and it was fantastic. I was disappointed in my entrée, General Tso’s Chicken. It was hot and seemed fresh but I love this dish from a popular chain and I think I was comparing the 2. I loved the fried rice! My mom had the honey walnut shrimp and thought it was very good. The fried shrimp was good, hot and cooked just right. This restaurant is definitely worth a second chance, I think I will try the Lemon Chicken next time.

It was a pretty good meal for Chinese food… not the best but certainly not the worst. We had a craving for Chinese food and decided to give this place a try(and they delivered so we wouldn’t have to go pick it up!) My biggest complaint would have to be the portion size and the amount of «filler» vegetables they used. We ordered 2 vegetable fried rice and 2 vegetable chow mien noodles. The fried rice was good(I have never had mini corn in my fried rice) but the chow mien noodles, we got one carton that had hardly any noodles in it and one carton that had what I would consider a normal amount of noodles in it. We also ordered beef and broccoli, orange chicken and general tsoa chicken. Again there was 2⁄3 broccoli in the beef and broccoli(I feel there should have been more beef). The orange chicken and general tsoa chicken were the smallest portion sized meals I have ever received from a Chinese food place! There were 10 – 12 pieces of chicken in each meal(filled a very small mound in the middle of the Styrofoam box), filled with a bunch of broccoli again(maybe they had a sale on broccoli). Again, the taste was pretty good but I definitely would not go here hungry because we would have to buy extra entrees to feed us.

We arrived at 7:45pm and there were 4 other booths with people. The one waitress sat us timely and gave us our menus. It took her a while to bring us water, and even longer than that to take our order, we ordered 2 family dinners: A with egg foo young, and sweet & sour pork. Shortly after we were brought egg drop soup(it was good), then our appetizers(they were greasy and over fried; shrimp, wonton, egg roll). By this time we still hadn’t received our drink order(iced tea, and hot tea). Our drinks did not come till after the main course was delivered, and our waters were empty. The egg foo young was a bit crispy on the edges and covered in a very dark brown gravy. The S&S pork was fried and coated in thick sauce. The plain fried rice was good(can’t mess that up too bad) In all I would say that we may return as take out customers only, and only order Soup, Rice and perhaps give the pot stickers a try. The waitress was not in tune with what the guests needed. The value was reasonable $ 12.95 for a Family Meal. We have 2 adults and 2 kids and did not order food for our kids, we had enough with the 2 meals to share with them. The bill came to $ 38 with small Tip.

We had been trying to eat here for a while, but they never seemed to be open when we were in town. We finally scored and followed a large group in. They shuffled up the stairs and we were seated in a nice dining room on the ground floor. The waitress was very calm for having just ushered a herd of people up the stairs. She brought our waters and took our order before the herd. We got one of the family dinners, these came with an appetizer, soup, rice and 2 entrees. He went with the chow mein and I went with the sweet n sour pork. I’m not a huge fan of fried won ton, but their egg rolls were very good, the fried shrimp where very thin and thickly coated. not bad, but not awesome either. The soup(egg flower) was good, but I seemed to get more veggies than he did, When the entrees where served I could see that they would be good. but this good?! Wow! I havent had chow mein that I have liked since a small joint in Vallejo over 15 years ago! This place nailed it! The sweet n sour pork was delish as well! We appreciated that the waitress was rushed but took her time and saw that we where taken care of in a timely manner. When she knew she would have to be upstairs, she left a pitcher of water for us because we were very thirsty. We will be back again!

This place is OK. If you’re craving for Chinese food, this is the most convenient one around. I ordered the egg flower soup, which wasn’t fresh at all. It taste like its been sitting for hours and watered down! Their Kung pao & egg plant was good. Their service is terrible though, we asked for water right when we sat down, after 10 minutes still no water. I asked her again for waters & she said«Wait a minute!» Really? HORRIBLE!

My husband and I have been coming to Morro Bay, CA on vacation for the past 15 years. We always end up eating at the tourist spots down by the harbor. This time we decided to try China Dragon and we were thrilled with the lemon chicken, pork fried rice and the honey walnut chicken. The lemon chicken wasn’t artificially yellow and it had a wonderful lemon sauce with tender pieces of lightly breaded crisp chicken. The pork fried rice had the most exquisite flavor with nice browned pieces of tender pork. Most Chinese places have honey walnut shrimp but not chicken. The owner Sophie told us that they do both, because some people cannot eat shrimp which is true in my husband’s case — he has a shellfish allergy. Again, tender pieces of crispy chicken in a beautiful honey glaze, not heavily«mayonaissed» like some places. We were very pleased to find this place and will definitely return. Sophie’s husband(co owner and chef) was in the kitchen but I wished I could shake his hand! We haven’t found Chinese food this good in our city(Las Vegas). Can’t wait til our next trip!

IN my opinion, China Dragon is by far the best Chinese restaurant on the Central Coast. And I know what I am talking about as i have been a food, wine & travel writer and author for more than 25 years – including a stint as travel columnist at Las Vegas Magazine for five years. AND I have spent more than a month traveling around Eastern China — and China Dragon is equal or better to the best fare ever encountered in top eateries in Shanghai, Dalian, Tianjin, Wuxi and elsewhere. Next time you are passing through Morro Bay be sure to stop in to discrete China Dragon. BTW co-owner Sophie, Born and raised in Northern China two hours north of Dalian, was previously banquet manager at the legendary Mings Restaurant in Palo Alto, CA for more than a decade. Stop on in, I know you will be pleased… we most definitely look forward to take-out or dining-in with friends on a regular basis.
