I guess they have good nights and bad. We went for a late dinner and ended up with a Pig & Fig flatbread that was good, wings which were so over fried they had no meat left and the calamari which had no flavor. The server was attentive and her beer recommendation was helpful but overall not a good experience. Did I mention that the band was so loud the options were to shout or to not speak? Not a great start to what was planned to be a get away weekend at the Madison.

A bar attached to the Madison Hotel & Rod’s Steakhouse. Low ceilings make the place dark and intimate, not unlike a pub feel in the city. Wings are good — spicy, peppery and salty. Good mix for me. And the BLT is excellent. Good for gathering for a quick drink/bar food. The beer selection is heavily hoppy, but a mix of the local and microbrew. And happy hour until 6:30p. Not enough seating in the bar area itself, but the restaurant to the side has plenty of seating.

Had a large party(10). Service was good for drinks and appetizers even tho soup(s) were cold). The delay for main course on a slow day was excessive. Eventually main course was served and food was delicious, then again I became hungry waiting for main course! Back room is nice with opportunity to communicate from one end of table to other side.

Great food. A bit pricey but the service is not bad. Went here several times for lunch. Would recommend to others.

Drinks were really good. Food ok guess depends on what you get. Crab bisque soup was delicious. Chicken Quesadillas were pretty good too. Yummy guacamole. But my lobster roll was just so so. Bread not toasted or butter and stale. So I just ate the filling. Waiter wasn’t the friendliest either. Kinda pricey.

Went for dinner here last night… We started with the kale salad, had hot wings and then burger and fries. Had a great drink Purple Haze, the bread(you have to ask for it) was warm and crunchy. They gave us a bakers dozen wings. Really liked the crisp lettuce and firm tomatoes and onion. Service was good. My little pet peeve, water served in plastic glasses. Enjoyed a nice meal, great drinks, good service. We were seated as soon as we walked in, have been several times, had to wait 10 – 20 minutes, but just had a drink at the bar while waiting. It can be a little pricey, however if you ask for something not on their menu, but on Rods they said no problem.(we asked twice before on prior visits)

I went here for first time with a group of co-workers for lunch and had delicious House Salad with Portabello mushrooms added. vThe Mesclun mix with candied pecans, blue cheese, balsamic dressing was nice combination. Co-workers had salads and burgers — everyone enjoyed their meal. The waiter was very nice however it took way too long for our food — we waited 30 minutes for salads and burgers? The waiter said the wait was because of the burgers? I would go back and give it another try. The long wait for the food might have been because it was a holiday week and they were busy — will see.

i had come in with low expectations and had left pleasantly surprised. i had a kale chopped salad with granola, grapes, apples, toasted pumpkin seeds, goat cheese, and apple cider honey dijon vinaigrette… come on, that sounds great right? and it was… soooo good. all the flavors worked well together, it had a little zest a little crunch, a little cheese… mmmmm and it was a decent size. my other dining partners enjoyed their meals as well. the ambiance is beautiful and very upscale. you will feel ritzy here. the server was very professional and took excellent care of us.

Average. chicken parm was average. Bombay and Sprite ordered twice. Was good however the strength of the drink varied between the two times i got it. Would rather drive to New York than eat there again.

Attended a work dinner meeting at this restaurant. Enjoyed the uniqueness of the restaurant… tables are set up in what appears to be a train cart. The only issue with the seating can be your party size. Only 2 – 3 people can sit per table, depending on the table. The steak is served with more fat than I’m accustomed. It seemed that at least ¼ of my steak was not edible due to the fat content.

We came here after a hike because it is right by the train station. The mixed reviews made me a bit trepidatious, but we enjoyed ourselves and really didn’t have any complaints. The hostess wasn’t at her station when we got there so there was a bit of wandering around the restaurant looking stupid at first. The beer list is a solid 4 stars and makes the visit totally worth it if you are a beer lover. We both had the fish and chips and they weren’t bad. When I explained how I liked my cappuccino, my second one was very good. All in all, I don’t think anyone is going to rave about the place but I’d go back if in the area. I thought the booths were comfortable(not understanding people’s complaints about them) and the servers were attentive even despite the Saturday night crowd.. and although I didn’t have a drink myself, the cocktail list was intriguing.

Always a good meal at the Tavern. Great service and faster dining for lunch rather than the adjoins steak house, which is my favorite anyway. Great beers on tap!

We stopped in here for a quick meal on a business trip. Service was fast, food was good(not great), and there were enough options to satisfy most tastes. The bar itself looked like it was out of the 1960s(in a good way).

This place was amazing we had the sampler appetizer which game with flatbread, wings, ribs and sliders super delicious. We ordered a lamb burger and crab cake with macaroni and cheese which was to die for. And for desert the southern pecan tart with ice cream definitely a place to revisit and even have a date night

The service was only so-so and the price was high for average food. It was also very loud and chaotic for the price. Decent but not what I expected with it’s association with Rod’s.

Three words sum up this experience for me. GOTOROD’s! I went to Red Dog thinking I could get a meal of Rods quality with smaller portions on the cheap. No such luck. One glass of wine, one salad, and on entrée without sides ran $ 52. Afterwards I reviewed the menu prices between GK and Rods and found 1 – 2 dollar differences between the items. GK simply doesn’t have the atmosphere that one would want with a $ 50 a plate restaurant. The seating is very tight and it feels small over all. My seat over by the Maitre’d station felt like I was out in the building foyer. The only upside I see to GK over Rod’s is the speed of service. In the pub atmosphere one would expect tables to turn more quickly, and this is beneficial when dining alone. Otherwise I’ll take Rods…

I’ve been ordering take-out from GK’s for the past few months and tried their smoked, grilled flatbread today. Spectacular. Could really taste the blue cheese, barbequed pork and jalapenos on it. All of the flavors sang in unison. Crust was perfectly cooked and just the right thickness to hold all of the toppings securely, but not too thick to taste«bready.“Shared it with a few colleagues today and they kept commenting on how spectacular it was. The flatbread was a bit bigger than something I’d eat for lunch by myself, so if you’re average sized and want to share with someone, one should be enough. The hostesses there are always nice. Might be college girls, so make sure to give them a nice little tip even for take-out.

Wow! The place is inside the Madison Hotel and may be tricky to find for the first time. It’s a dark woody location that’s VERY noisy and busy. We were seated in the dining area away from the bar and it smelled like a nasty bar mat. The service was excellent. Stay away from the water. It tastes like pool water. Maybe I’m just spoiled being from Hawaii where our tap water is not treated like mainland water. But, seriously, it was nasty. I had the steak and frites and was surprised and how big the steak was. The fries are served in a cute little metal basket and everything tasted PERFECT! Being that I’m staying at the Madison, I’ll probably eat here again. But, I’m not complaining. That night there was live music in the tiny bar area and it’s extremely loud. The band is literally in your face. So, don’t go here to «talk» cause you won’t hear a damn thing.

I have been to this place 4x since my initial visit hoping I can match the original meal I had. Unfortunately I have left very disappointed. I have come to the conclusion the food is not good here. I have had the burger, cheesesteak(special), hotdog and calamari(off of the steakhouses menu). All have been disappointing. The buns have been stale like. What is saving this place is the bartenders who are friendly and quick. I really wanted to give this place a good review or keep my original review but I cannot. I will still go to hang out but my eating days here are over. Good luck.
