Friday nights are always a good time here. Somewhat cheap admission with food and drink prices that are very fair.

This place is a lot of fun! This marked our second trip here and it doesn’t get much better from what I can tell. It’s $ 12 admission for adults, kids 11 and under are free. Seniors get a dollar off. Lots of concessions available – candy, popcorn, grilled food, and beer. And the races are awesome! Much cooler than I thought it’d be. We will definitely be coming back from time to time.

The Grundy County Speedway is located at the Grundy County Fairgrounds. This was my second visit to the track and I must admit… I loved it! If you’re a race fan, you will not be disappointed. The track is a super short 1⁄3 mile high bank paved oval. It’s a lot of fun to watch the local talent race along with the track legends. Lots of action on the track, hard racing, some crashes, sparks flying… Everything a race fan loves! Several big names in racing have circled this track before becoming famous, such as Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Mark Martin, Paul Newman, Ryan Newman and my personal favorite, Tony Stewart. The hometown pride shines through and you may just get to see the next big name in racing!

Blood pumping in 0.9 seconds. Do you have a need for speed? How about a need for demolition? No, what about the rich smells of exhaust, smokes, loud laughs and engines roaring? Yeah, that got me going too! I have found a crush, and that crush is Grundy. Speedway that is. I like things that go fast – literally, and this fills that hole perfectly. A friend races every so often and I had asked him if I could go because: A: Who doesn’t want to watch the excitement of cars almost crashing, whipping around for 35 laps? B: Get a first hand look at how a car gets fixed in under 15 minutes. C: Wanted to smell like a grease monkey… because when else can you?(don’t answer that) I was so excited when he invited me and brought me out into the ‘pit’ for an up close and oh so personal look at how this shiz goes down. For $ 10, one can sit in the regular stands, for $ 30 you can sit in the pits where you get the most action. Either way, you’re watching cars/buggies/and god only knows what else going really fast. And have the potential of crashing. Which I hate to be a negative nancy. but I want to see the crashes so bring them on. This is such a fun place to hang out for a day. Be prepared to hear the loud roar of engines and to come home selling like you’ve been checking oil all day long-but it’s all in good fun.

I just went to the raceway tonight, $ 10.00 to get in, which I thought was pretty cheap, the food was reasonably priced, the races were a lot of fun, I forgot to bring earplugs, I will never let that happen again, the noise was unbelievable, but the races were really exciting, one other bad thing besides the noise was the rubber thrown at you from the cars tires, The bathrooms were clean that was quite a surprise, and plenty of free parking. it’s something fun to do and cheap

This can be a lot of fun for everyone for kids to adults. The admission is cheap under $ 12 for adults not sure about kids. The races are every Friday night at 8pm and the gate opens at 6pm. The drivers also stay in the pits after the races if the kids want to meet them or get autographs. Most of these guys/girls have other jobs but love to race and so they come out and put on a good show. If you are into Nascar at all this is worth the Friday night.
