Small little dive bar I barely ever noticed– a friend brought me along. It has a few tvs and a bartender with a bit of sass lol. The only thing that got me excited was the cherry whisky and coke– I literally fell in love. Pretty low key– juke box, darts, pool table and clean bathrooms. I wouldn’t travel to get here but if you’re thirsty why not stop?

One bartendress can get a little cranky, but 9 times outta 10, whichever hardworking gal is behind the bar is a real sweetheart. I love how they get creative at this bar… ie, always changing up the decorations to fit the holiday, dressing up the owls, and hosting events like Halloween karaōke: «SCARYOKE.» There’s a good amount of TV screens, and by good I mean there isn’t an endless friggin row of ‘em blaring so loud you can’t eavesdrop on the hilarious barfly babbling at her poor drinking companion how she’s so tanorexic she can’t even get a tan in Florida… Unilocaler Walt Jr. got it right: unlike other dives, Hoovers isn’t cliquey. Go on in and get a frosty mug. I’ll see ya there.

This was our first visit to Hoover’s, and we will return every chance we get. It is a local neighborhood bar. Nothing fancy, good jukebox, cold beers, but what made our experience exceptional was the amazing bartender we had, and the locals we met there. The bartender’s name was Chrissie. She work a Saturday night shift alone, and was great. Hats off to her. The locals we met, or also great, and as a matter of fact even bought as a round of drinks.

I must say, I was a little skeptical coming here as most small town bars I have been to have their own ways, or ‘cliques’, for lack of a better word. But after minutes of grabbing a seat at the bar, I was greeted by who I assume is their main bartender, a woman who looked to be in her late 30’s. She was very kind and personable, and I didn’t feel at all rushed to order nor was asked for payment for my drinks until the very end of the night. Atmosphere was very laid back, a good mix of a crowd with ages ranging from early 20’s to late 50’s. The fact that they sell beer and wine until closing(2 a.m.) is just an added bonus. I certainly reccomend this bar to all visiting or currently living in the area!

Service was great tonight until Phyllis came on duty. Left there soon after to go somewhere where we could actually get a drink. There were only 10 people in the bar, Phyllis was only interested in one, obviously her friend. 4 stars for Hoovers, none for Phyliss.

Low key. The service is awesome, they make you feel like family, until you eventually become family.

My favorite local bar. I’ll walk here during a snowstorm and enjoy a drink or two or ten and have a great time. Definitely more of an older crowd but who cares – everybody chills in their spot and you won’t be bothered in contrast to the groups of children you’d find in Morristown. Darts, a jukebox, personal pizza(plain or pepperoni), pretzels and hot dogs are offered around the clock. Plus it’s right across from 711. What more could you ask for from a local dive?

I think the term dive bar gets thrown around loosely and people often use that word to describe a dark generic Irish pub. You want to know what a dive bar is, Hoover’s is a god damn dive bar and I think that by even writing a Unilocal review on Hoover’s betrays those that go here and work here, but fuck it. I went here for years and got stares from dudes nearly every time I came through. So if you aren’t a professional day drinker here, expect it from the locals. The bartenders have always treated my friends and I right. If you want to really trip, try taking a trip up the street to Mt. Tabor and you’ll think you’ve stepped into It’s A Small World with all their multicolor houses for all the gnomes that live there.

Really great neighbor hood tavern. Not at all the place that it’s reputation would have you believe. Inexpensive drinks, great staff, 3 dart boards, Wi-Fi, and REALLY good bar pies. Just a great place to hang for a couple of drinks.
