This place is very good in the sushi offering. Price is very fair and taste is above average. There are things could be done better, e.g., the shrimp tempura can be more crispy. Also, the restaurant is apparently run by Chinese, a bit weird about listening to Chinese folk music in a sushi place. And the writing on the entrance is from chairman Mao? Hmm, sorta odd.

Bad service?! Uhm no not at all I have been to this place twice and the service was just fine:) how about people try and say thank you. Most people do not say thank you and treat servers with courtesy and respect! The sever checked on us several times and out fresh sushi came right out! We were also given a piece of complimentary cheese cake! The rainbow roll is one of the best rolls that I have ever had! I will be back in fact this may be me and my fiancé spot in Morgantown as this will be home for the next three years!

Pretty good selection of various sushi. On one occasion the fish was too warm to my liking. The family is pretty nice that runs the business. They could clean up there some more by removing boxes that are just sitting out. Yesterday one of the family members was just sleeping in the corner. Lol They brought us out some complimentary dessert, which was a nice touch. I prefer this location to the other sushi place down the road.

Went there for lunch today, as I have many times before. Sushi rice was dry, avocado in California roll was old. Waiter got our food for us and never came back. My guest and I were the only two in the restaurant. Hope this isnt a trend for them?

When I’m in the area for work I duck into Volcano for a respite from the fried and starchy food joints so prevalent and popular in the area. Volcano is located in a rough looking strip mall but the interior space is nicely done. The fish is always fresh and presentation sparks the interest and appetite. The sushi and sashimi platters are relatively large and the cuts are thick. The miso soup/salad combo that comes with full meals is up to par if not great. There is a nice variety of larger«special rolls» with blended flavored that work. The prices are reasonable compared to similar restaurants in the more urban areas of the country. They have around half a dozen types of bottled beer — just standard domestics and the obligatory Japanese brands. The staff is attentive but I find it difficult to make the men on staff crack a smile. It is nice that they add a complimentary treat at the end. Each time I go to the Volcano I walk out thinking that I will go back again.

I have gone to Volcano twice in the past two years as I do not live in Morgantown, but occasionally visit. Both visits to Volcano were great! On my most recent visit, I was introducing my father to sushi as he had always been scared by the idea of raw fish. I introduced him to tempura sushi, edamame, and shrimp udon. He loved it! The service was great. We had to wait about 15 – 20 minutes for a table for four, but this was not unexpected as the restaurant is smaller. They ended up giving us a complimentary sushi appetizer for our wait, which was delicious. My husband drank his soda very quickly, but they were always there to refill it. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and our overall experience will keep us coming back when we are in Morgantown.

My husband and I went to this place for the first time this week. We always wanted to try it out but never had gotten around to it. For starters, the restaurant is very small, its clean and the atmosphere was very nice, calm and serene. The waitress was very polite but the service was also very slow. We waited more than average in time when it came to getting our drinks, placing an order, receiving our meal and getting the bill. We had ordered the Yakitori for an appetizer and it was pretty good. I was not a fan of the shrimp roll we had, my husband enjoyed it. Overall when we had our main course, the shrimp that was used tasted very low grade and the chicken was dry. Overall, it was a solid experience but I don’t think we will be returning.

Only sushi in Morgantown open until 10:30pm so after work we had a perfect dinner. Atmosphere was clean and quiet as we were the only folks in there. I did not LOVE the Green Tea Fried Ice Cream. I did LOVE all my sushi and potstickers. I only gave this a 4 because it was not really special. yummy but not special. Go if you are near and need sushi.

Sushi was really good and yaki soba. Had fried Philly, Alaskan and rainbow rolls n soba. I give it 4 stars due to the bad saki selection only 1 brand served hot or cold, I prefer mine cold. Staff was very patient when taking the order constantly checked on every 15mins for refills. Big step up from last visit

Great service, great sushi. Been back there twice now and great both times. Lots to pick from and prices are fairly reasonable. Definitely an unexpected treat to find good sushi in Morgantown.

The sushi Is good and fresh. I’m a salmon fan & I would give it five stars! However, the service is VERYBAD! The waitress treat people very terrible. The place is small and they talk with each other loudly. They never smile or say please or thank you. And they give you the check before asking or saying anything or even saying have a nice day. Plus, the menus are dirty! I would go always there if they changed their rude waitress. P. S. The pretty waitress who had a little girl was the ONLY good one.

Pretty solid Asian joint. The lunch specials ate interesting and offer a nice variety of options. The sushi is fresh and tasty. Portion size is a little on the small side so its not always filling. Overall I still prefer Asian Bistro for lunch but on the evansdale side of town Volcano is definitely a tasty well priced eatery.

I was in town with coworkers who really shouldn’t be eating at Japanese restaurants, but the staff was very polite and patient, but it was often difficult for them to understand us and vice versa. The people seated around us were not big fans of my coworkers’ lack of knowledge of sushi and that’s not the restaurant’s fault, but apparently this place attracts the sushi snobs in Morgantown. The edamame was definitely some of the best I’ve had. I had shrimp udon soup. It was a bit different that my local place, but still good. One coworker had sushi rolls he enjoyed and the other had hibatchi chicken and she enjoyed that. They brought out a nice looking dessert.

I would agree that this is the best sushi in Morgantown, but it is sub par in the world of sushi. Most of their rolls seemed to be for Sushi beginners aka they were just veggies or cooked shrimp wrapped up. I enjoy raw sushi and shishimi, and this place only had the basic versions of those kind. Also, I got one of the raw rolls and it just wasn’t that good. The rice was hard, and it just tasted rubbery. If you like sushi without raw ingredients, this would be good for you. All others should just order from the cooked food menu. I did however like the décor inside. The bar was pretty cool and I would deff have a few drinks there.

I have to say that is my favorite sushi place in Morgantown. Their roll selection is very good, but specifically the Twin Tower roll is incredible. Shrimp tempura and eel wrapped in crab with eel sauce. I have not been able to find this roll ANYWHERE else, and it makes me very sad. It’s never the same, depending on the chef, but always exquisite. Their new lunch menu is a pick-two system, pretty good and comes with miso soup. I love their little cucumber appetizer and they also give you oranges cut up after the meal. It is pretty small and can feel somewhat cramped, so be prepared for that. The service is always friendly but sometimes confused, but if you eat there often enough(like my friend and I, to the point where when I came in alone they asked me where she was…) they will remember you and take good care of you.

Nice little restaurant in Motown to eat sushi at. Their sushi is actually pretty good, and they have a pretty large selection for a smaller restaurant. All the sushi I’ve tried here has been good. The service is quick and generally pretty friendly. I tried a noodle dish last night, Yaki Soba which was stir fried chicken and veggies with noodles. It wasn’t too bad, but I’ve had better Yaki Soba(like at Yama downtown). Overall it’s a great place to sit and eat if you want some good food and don’t have a ton of time.

Gave Volcano another shot — still slow and clueless service, though better… Sashimi was OK, but the kiddo’s teriyaki chicken was lousy — grilled chicken breast doused in sweet sauce. Oh well.

This is by far my favorite sushi place in Morgantown. We(my wife and I) went there for dinner the other night. While you wait for your meal you are given a small plate of what tastes like cucumbers in vinegar. Delicious. Then we started out our meal by ordering a sushi appetizer. We ordered the Crazy Volcano roll and Shrimp Tempura roll. The presentation was beautiful. That was followed up with salads and soup. Both of which were mediocre at best. Then we ordered a main course each. I ordered the chicken and steak hibachi dinner. My wife had the chicken hibachi dinner. The food came out sizzling on hot«fajita like» plates. The vegetables were crisp, the meat cooked perfectly, and the sauce was great. They even give you a dipping sauce for the meat that is great. For desert they brought out a slice of cheesecake for us on the house. I don’t know if this is typical, but it was great either way. To cap the meal off they brought out an orange that has been pre-sliced for you and presented beautifully. Two notes: small dining space, so expect a wait and to be sitting close to other couples/guests. Second, from what I can tell they only have two servers at anytime of the day(went for lunch one day also, was treated great then too!!!).
