A great stop along the trail, this place had a friendly staff in a cool setting. A delicious selection of reds will have me returning very soon. A super tasty Cuvee Du Rouge highlighted an end to my day of tasting, highly recommended.

Wow — everytime I come back to this place it has something new and exciting and the wine gets better and better!!! At the recent(wine club member pick up party) there were some great new wines(Cab, Zin, Malbec and Pinot are my faves but they had a new Viognier that would give Napa quality billing). And for fun you ask? They had several bocce courts surrounded by gorgeous and mature olive trees new seating. All of this must directed by the steady hand of the lovely General Manager I met — Maegan. What a friendly lady — really knows her wine and was managing a few hundred moving parts but still had time for a short chat to update me on all the latest — as if I was the only one there. Hey, was that a pizza oven I spotted??? Classic«Leal»(see Grove, Leal Vineyards) — what next? A dog park? This is a MUSTSTOP whilst doing any wine tasting in Morgan Hill area.

New owner, thought things would be better, they’re worse. Visited Apr 3, 2016 after a long hiatus due to previous bad experiences here. Took a chance, stopped in after what 2 or 3 years, and we were excited that the old owners were gone! Same wine as before, but now it’s $ 15 to taste, so $ 30 for 2 people, and it’s still the same ugly warehouse. You’re supposed to get it back when you buy a bottle, but they forgot. They make you pay cash up front before tasting. Wine club is now 6 bottles instead of 3. And it’s same wine as before, at least for now. Signed up for the wine club, and forced to buy 6 bottles on the spot AND another 6 in less than a month at the ‘pick up party’? Wow. Can’t we just wait the 3 weeks for the shipment? Or take them now and have them count as our shipment? It’s only a few weeks away? No. We bought 2 to take with us and 6 ‘futures’ cabernets. Got home realized we’d payed $ 160 + and had not been given a receipt! We purchased wine that won’t be available for months, and no receipt to show it’s paid for. Yikes! Called and asked for a receipt. After receiving it, realized we’d been overcharged $ 30. Emailed and received a refund. All thing considered(we drank a bottle we bought it was ok, but not enough to commit to 12(well 14 actually) bottles in less than a month, plus we belong to 6+ wine clubs elsewhere from Napa to Paso) we decided to cancel our wine club membership. No harm no foul, we did after all buy 2 bottles and futures are just that. So emailed again, and let them know, we’d not be picking up the futures and and cancelling the membership. Received an email back, ok, will do, but again, the math was wrong and the refund amount was incorrect. Wrote back, the manager Meagan corrected it and arranged for our refund, but since we paid partially in cash and partially with a card, the refund had to be picked at the winery, a 30 – 40 mile drive. Yee gads. Why not just send a check? When I got there that weekend, she had typed a detailed letter explaining the mistakes made and how the refunds etc had been made which I had to sign. Fine. Kept things friendly, looking forward to seeing how thing matriculate with construction underway and new ownership. Fast forward to to April 24, glossing over my email I see one SIGNED by Meagan saying my card was declined for my cancelled membership. Yeah, I keep a separate wine club fund card, and only put money in when the shipments are ready for exactly these reasons. In my experience wine clubs are notoriously bad about about removing your credit card from their database when you quit. I forward the email to Meagan who replies, that this was just an ‘automatic’ email, that my account was NOT attempted to be charged. I go back to my email and dig a little further and find that in fact I’d received an email ALSO from AMEX saying the transaction was declined, so I forward this to Meagan pointing out that if what she’s saying is true, just an ‘automatic email’ no charge would have been attempted I get a really nasty terse response«This is the final email you will be receiving from Sycamore Creek. Your club has already been cancelled and I have now removed you from our mailing list«WTF? Now, while we had decided not to be in the wine club at this time, we still wanted to keep tabs on how things were developing and how the wine would be once the new winemaker’s wine would start to come to fruition, and pay a visit from time to time, perhaps joining the wine club in the future. Instead I get a swift kick in the teeth not even worthy of being on the mailing list! And this from the«General Manager»? Hardly! Nice title for someone so completely unprofessional. She completely ignored the fact that an attempt to extract funds absolutely HAD been made, and yet AGAIN another mistake made, I had not been removed from the system despite everything. I was always respectful in my emails, but apparently being shown all these mistakes was too much for her to bear, so now I’m not welcome at Sycamore creek for pointing out her continuous mistakes at our expense one after another it seems. I’m pissed now, so I call Leal, and ask to speak to Frank. No. Can I leave a voicemail? No. I get a guy who says he’s the«General Manager» of Leal, AND Sycamore creek and this other«General Manager’s» boss and that I should forward everything to him. Well, the title of General Manager at Sycamore didn’t prevent that person from being a dick, I’m not impressed. So I really press him to speak to Frank directly, but again no. I forward him the emails from Meagan, and AMEX, and the so called automatic emails… And…nothing. So, just waiting till the next wine club shipment and hoping it doesn’t happen when I have money in the account to pay for other wine clubs, only to have my money taken by Sycamore creek, and then have to go deal with these complete frickin’ idiots again. Guess I’d better get the card # changed.

Random stop on the way home and glad we did. Nice little vineyard with great selections of wines. The service was great considering we stopped in 20 min before closing and the lady still was happy to give us a wine tasting with a little extra from the barrel itself!

So to begin, I already live in a very prominent wine community and understand how busy tasting rooms can become. But this was a complete new for me. Not only was the service terrible but the wine didn’t seven come close to suffice the pallet. We waited 45 minutes to receive our 3rd pour and almost an hour to just pay for our tasting and purchase. Honestly I wanted leave and just not pay anything. To end I will never come here again. If you want great wine please take the extra drive and go to Val du Vino in Murpheys, CA. Amazing wine and exceptional service. Never ever a let down.

New ownership seems to be a plus! So consider that as you read the reviews. We had a lovely time and the service was attentive, warm, personal and lots of fun. The tasting«room» is in a warehouse and is quite chilly on a cold day. The wines were very nice and we found a favorite. Will return on a warmer day! If you’ve not been there check it out. If it’s been over a year, give Sycamore Creek another try.

This used to be a friendly fun place to hang out on the patio. I’ve even brought lunch sometimes. Since the change in ownership, the feeling is not the same. The club and bottle prices have skyrocketed out of my price range. They are remarkable wines and I hope they keep producing the same quality. It is time for me to try other budget friendly wineries.

Hated this place. Very small pours. Staff is awful! They did not make us feel welcome. Not going there ever. Wine was not even that good.

A nice winery located near the others in the area. A nice patio and friendly people make for a good wine tasting experience.

We were told that Leal is in process of purchasing this winery so we HAD to pop out here and try it. Although the grounds can do with some upgrading which we are sure will happen with the ownership change, the wines were delightful. The staff was friendly and pleasant. We joined some friends that were wine club members surprisingly and had a very nice tasting. check this place out. and stay tuned with the upcoming attractions…

This used to be my favorite winery to visit in the Morgan Hill area. Unfortunately, no longer. I quite like most of their wines. However, it is their customer unfriendly service that is unfortunate. A couple of years ago I joined their wine club, later upgraded to one of their«reserve» tiers. In one of the shipments there were 2 bottles of reserve Malbec. At the tasting room I ascertained that I did not care for the Malbec. When I went to pick up my shipment I inquired if I could swap out the Malbecs for another red that I liked and that I would be happy to pay the difference if it were more. I was told that they do not«allow» this practice. The woman suggested that if I did not like the wine perhaps I should give it as a gift! Consequently, I opted out of their wine club program. The other negative experience was that this winery offered some of the smallest pours that I’ve ever had. It is difficult to evaluate a complex red such as the winery’s excellent Evolution when the portion poured is so miniscule that if not guzzled down immediately the remainder is apt to evaporate in the glass on a hot day!

Loved all of the wines we tasted and joined on the spot! Bought a case of the 09 Cabernet too. Excellent place.

Visited on a barrel tasting event. Staff was very rude and made sure to let you know that the regular tasting fee was separate from the barrel tasting fee. Wouldn’t even entertain the thought that we might purchase some wine from them. I will not return.

We got a tip to come here from another winery in the area. It is a bit isolated as it is a good 15 minutes north off of 152. When we pulled up, I thought we were at a warehouse. It was pretty spartan as far as the grounds go. They do have some picnic tables in the back but no deli or area to buy food. The wine tasting area is in the warehouse area, on a few wine barrel set up in a bar type fashion. We did their regular tasting menu. The wines were quite good I was very impressed as we had not tasted in the Santa Cruz area up to this point. The merlot was pretty good but I thoought there Zin was fantastic. The staff were quite friendly. For a quick, out of the way random stop, I thought it was quiite good and would definitely come back if we were in the area

Probably my favorite winery out of the four we hit up. The«tasting room» was actually inside what looked like a warehouse with barrels on barrels on barrels! The lady who helped us was super friendly and down to earth. My favorites were definitely the Zinfandel and Merlot. They were so good, I ended up buying a bottle each and even my friends all bought bottles as well. Somehow the conversation went onto the topic of Ports, and the lady was kind enough to give us a sample because one of my friends had never tried it before. The scenery may not be the prettiest, but the wines are definitely worth coming for. Recommendations: 2010 Merlot

Five dollar tasting fee for 6 pours. The naked Chardonnay is delicious– light and fruity. The grounds are beautiful and the tasting room is right in the middle of the action. When I went I was the only one. Bf and dog stayed outside. Service was polite but not friendly. Struggled to make small talk and she looked at me while I was tasting each wine. THEPRESSURE! PLEASELOOKAWAY! Not open to the public during passport weekends but they are open to their club members. Worth a visit to have some nice picnic time!!!
