I am glad we found this place close to home because it beats the long wait at the boiling crab. We ordered the 1lb of shrim and a lobster tail, in addition to fries, corn, and a beer. The price was reasonable. I would recommend this place to those who are in the mood of «cajun seafood» and dont feel like waiting at the boiling crab.

Woke up saturday afternoon starving and had a sandwich in my head. My parents mentioned they recently went to Crawfish House and liked it. After I saw they had a Po’ Boy on the menu I was in the door. Atmosphere: the place isn’t that big, but the high ceilings make it feel open. They have about 10 – 12 tables if I remember correctly and a small bar that can prob seat around 5. The place was very clean and did not have a fishy smell at all. The music was all oldies– and i mean oldies like«Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy» from the 40’s and Zydeco music, I thought that was cool. It is sea/ocean themed, with nets in the walls and it has a comfy feel. Each table has a roll of paper towels and butcher paper for a table cloth, so you know this is a «dig in and make a mess» kind of place. Also on the table is a «how to eat crawfish» detailed diagram which I thought was funny and helpful. Staff: there was only one lady that I saw working while there. She was very friendly and answered all of our questions. She checked on us frequently(but not too much) and was generally helpful. Food: You can order either Shrimp(with or without heads), crawfish, and 3 types of crab by the pound. Cost varies by the market price. You choose between house or garlicky sauce, and choose your level of spicyness. Other than that, there are fish and chips, butterfly shrimp, calamari, some sides(corn on the cob, potatoes, Cajun fries) and a Wings section. Not a huge menu, but that’s kind of a relief for a seafood place, the main focus here is seafood, not burgers. They do offer chicken tenders for kids. We ordered — Jambalaya, 1 lb of crawfish in the«house sauce» w/mild spicyness(she told us even mild is a little spicy) and a Po’ Boy The jambalaya can be a bit misleading. It is listed with the meal selections, but you may notice the price is much lower. It is not a large amount, more like something to order alongside your bucket of seafood. It would be great if they offered 2 sizes, an entrée/side size, and a full meal size. The taste was good, not as much flavor and spice as I hoped for. Po’ Boy — this was delicious. The bread was soft, had a good amount of fish, shrimp and calamari, and came with fries. Also had lettuce, tomato and mayo inside. The seafood within was crispy and well seasoned, but not overpowering. 1lb crawfish — these arrived in a bucket, steaming hot. Inside the bucket is a bag containing the crawfish, with the house sauce we chose. I can’t remember how many crawfish we got, I think around 10. The house sauce was delicious! Lots if flavor, and a nice bit of heat. If you don’t like too spicy, definitely get mild. The meat was tender and delicious, and the crawfish butter(in the head) was creamy and flavorful. If you are very hungry, definitely order something alongside the bucket like potatoes, as the amount of meat might not fill you up. Good experience, food was flavorful and service was great. Will definitely return to try the bucket of shrimp and the«garlicky» sauce.

They always overcook the shrimp which makes them mushy and nearly impossible to peel.

This is a hidden gem in Morgan Hill! I hate waiting in line in all those other crawfish places in San Jose, so if you’re willing to drive a little further out to Morgan Hill, you won’t regret it. The sauce is so good and when we said we wanted spicy, we got SPICY! Finger lickin’ good, quite literally. And normally I don’t rave about bread, but this isn’t some nasty frozen bread that’s microwaved for your convenience. The bread is fresh, warm and perfect for soaking up all the rest of the sauce. I’m used to getting really skimpy sized crawfish at other restaurants like Boiling Crab, but Crawfish House does not skimp on the crawfish! They were surprisingly huge, and definitely enough for our whole group. The owner is also super friendly and made sure to check up on our table, as well as visiting all the other customer’s tables. Great service plus great food equals five stars!

Crawfish in Morgan Hill. Unassuming, uncharacteristic, un-noticed… You never would have thought that this place would be in Morgan Hill. Keep your eyes open because you will probably drive right by the restaurant. I’ve driven right by twice now. My sister Cuc Crystal Nguyen, introduced me to this place and she is regular. She sits at the same seat all the time the owner says. The food here is awesome. And the Waiter/owner/son of owner/slave labor is one nice guy. I like the Chicken wings, and the shrimp. So far everything I’ve had here has been great. Lobster tail is only 10 dollars also. I’m not big on giving 5 stars, but I leave this place and I feeling good about myself. Good food, good prices, good service, I can’t ask for much more.

In my opinion, Crawfish House is worthy of a full five stars based on my experiences. I understand if you’re Boiling Crab and Crawdaddy addicted, like me, it’s hard to love any other place, but in tiny Morgan Hill this place does the trick! Please understand this is Morgan Hill, not San Jose, people. One person had previously suggested that this place should try severing salads and burgers, I think that is a horrid idea. Honestly, I would stop coming here if they did. This is not an American Diner, so don’t expect it to be such! To the review! The restaurant is clean and very inviting. Like other crawfish houses, they have two flat screen TVs hanging on the wall, always on. I adore the decorations and I’m pleased to say the restrooms are as clean as they can get! Not much is worse than an unsightly restroom. Service is personable, timely, and amazing. The waiter I’ve had has always been attentive and caters to my table’s needs. He stops by just enough to make sure we’re happy, but not so much as to overcrowd us. For the food you get, the pricing is perfect. This place is no more expensive than Boiling Crab or Crawdaddy. Now, the food I’ve had! Crawfish(by the lb.): I’m not sure if some previous reviewers have had crawfish before, but they are small. You pay by the pound with the shell included. It’s something you eat along with other menu items and have a fun experience digging out the yummy meat. I know I say crawfish are small, but compared to Boiling Crab and Crawdaddy, these are friggin’ HUGE! You get less of them, but the size well makes up for it. The meat you dig out of one tail is the same amount to three tails at other places. Not only that, but i was able to get meat out of the claws! The friggin’ claws! I’ve only ever had crawfish this big before a couple times at Crawdaddy’s ONLY because I was dinning with a friend who knew the owner personally and we were getting hooked up. Never have I seen crawfish this big at Boiling Crab. Oysters on the half shell: As fresh and yummy as you can get being in Morgan Hill. I wish they offered fried oysters! Shrimp(by the lb.): Just like Boiling Crab and Crawdaddy. Not even kidding. Sooo good. Sauces: Every crawfish house has their own way of making sauces to define originality, and theirs is awesome! House sauce: Yummy, yummy. Garlic sauce: So garlicky and I LOVE that there is chunks of garlic! They even give you bread to soak up the sauce with. Fish basket: The fish was tender and not over cooked. Major points. Had huge flavor, also. Though, their fish is cod, I believe and I wish it was catfish. I only say this because I’m hooked on Boiling Crab’s catfish basket. On the plus side, I enjoy Crawfish House’s fish basket better than Crawdaddy’s catfish basket, which i find awful! Anytime I dine here, the tab for two is no more than $ 40, with nonalcoholic beverages. Give this place a try and you might be pleasantly surprised!

L. O. V. E. Love this place! Amazing food plus a clean, beautiful restaurant equals I can’t wait to go back! In my humble, part-creole opinion, the cajun flavor of the house sauce is spot on and the garlic is delicious! Figure a bucket per person and an order of sweet potato fries for every two. Oh, and get extra bread for dipping!

Long time Unilocal user, but first time review. I’m from San Jose so I usually don’t make it down to Morgan Hill ATALL. Let alone to get something to eat. A friend of mine just recently moved to Morgan Hill and we were feeling like some seafood similar to Boiling Crab or Crawdaddy in San Jose, but didn’t want to make the drive. That’s when I pulled out my trusty iPhone and Unilocal’ed «seafood.» Crawfish house showed up as a result so we decided to check it out. The restaurant has plentiful private parking, and very clean inside. The building is larger than the restaurant floor, but I guess that’s because it will give the owners room to expand. We ordered 2 lbs of crawfish, 2 lbs of shrimp, and cajun fries. My friend and I like it hot and it did not disappoint. The sauce is better than Boiling Crab or Crawdaddy’s(San Jose) in my opinion. They import their crawfish from Louisiana so you know its good. The bread that they have is AWESOME. We had to order extra in order to soak up the remainder of the sauce. it’s a shame that this restaurant is not located in a more populated area like San Jose where there appears to be more youthful patrons that frequent these types of spots. I would become a regular at this restaurant if it wasn’t for it’s location in Morgan Hill. If I make it down here again I would definitely try it again.

What a ripoff. A dollar a wing and they are super-small. And it ‘s spelt«SHRIMP»…not«SHRIMPS» There’s only ONE«S» in «SHRIMP» The WORST part was I ordered two orders to go and got no napkins. if you order to go dont order BBQ. You’ll be wiping BBQ sauce on your jeans

Well… after reading the«hidden» reviews, I thought that I might give it a try. I guess they were hidden for a reason. I was really excited about crawfish & the Cajun menu. Well, Cajun it ain’t. Vietnamese style was more like it. Garlic, sweet hot & spicy… It wasn’t bad but definitely not Cajun style. I’ve been to New Orleans multiple times and it certainly wasn’t close. The ambience wasn’t bad… for a sports bar. The beer was cold… Chicken wings were dry and seemed as if they were par-cooked, then oven baked with bread crumbs… the egg rolls were ok. Now for the main event… the sauce choices had no hint of being Cajun. They were not bad, but not what I was expecting. Crawfish was cooked appropriately… even for what seemed like an eternity before hitting the table. Served in a plastic sack inside of a metal pail for your shells. It wasn’t bad… in fact, I liked it. Had garlic, extra hot. Nice flavor but just ok. The king crab legs(for $ 24.95) were a huge disappointment. They were still partially frozen in the middle & served cold. I could have done better going to Costco & defrosting them myself… The drawn butter had begun to harden and became pretty«gloppy» midway through dinner. Now the bill…$ 95 for dinner for three, 4 drinks… this was the final straw. I realize that some of these items are necessarily expensive to procure, but for that price, the bucks could have been spent better elsewhere. I do have to say, they are making an effort to serve well, as the wait staff was working pretty hard for a nearly full restaurant. But overall, I think I’ll just stick with something else.

I had driven by this place a dozen times in the last couple of weeks and didn’t even realize it was open until I saw these reviews on Unilocal. It would certainly help business if there were a sign or something saying OPEN think NEON people. I thought what the heck and gave it a try for dinner and it was way expensive for what you get. The food lacks any complexity or imagination as does the atmosphere which should have at least some character. The service was average at best. Morgan Hill needs a good cajun restaurant, well we need restaurants in general, but this one is on its way out before it ever even got started. Sorry guys.

Went to dinner tonight Friday at 6pm. We waited 15 minutes for service. I finally had to stop a waiter passing by and asked if we could order. So service was very bad. The décor was very plain Jane, nothing special. The table cloths were butcher paper, so you see not a high class place. Ordered 1lb of Crawfish of shrimp and fries, 10 chicken wing’s sprites. Bill $ 40.00. What a rip off. Everything is Ala carte. The Crawfish and shrimp came in a plastic bags. The plates were pic nick type cheap plates. There is no combo dinner choices. There is very limited parking, good luck on that. This place won’t last very long in Morgan Hill.

I hate to write a 1 star review; I really do. However, I hope the owners read this in time to save the restaurant. I just returned from dinner where we were the only people in the restaurant. No, Ive never owned a resaturant, nor do I plan to, but I have some common sense in what it takes to make a successful establishment. Since this is a new restaurant, Ill start with the pros: — Good frontage location — Unique menu items — Good décor, clean — Friendly service — Good flavor in the food Heres the cons: — Lack of menu items. There really is no way to order a complete dinner. I was completely baffled — the menu is basically appetizers: lb of crawfish($ 12), beef skewers($ 5), etc. Why not have something like a #1 combination — corn on the cob, grilled fish fillet, basket of fries for $ 13? Why do we have to order everything seperate? — Clearly they have fish fillets and a grill. I asked if I could possibly have my fish grilled and not fried. No was the response. Why not, you already have everything to do this. — No salads/sandwich/burger options. Really? Could you add a shrimp salad, or a burger? It doesnt even have to be good! — The atmosphere is like a bar, but no bar. Ok, so I can sit down eat a tray of peanuts and crawfish, but no draft beer? Really, try to find an identity. — Our total came out to $ 35 for 2 beef skewers, 16″ lobster tail(drenched in butter), 1lb of crawfish(= spoonful of meat), and the gambalaya(more of an appetizer serving). — I literally went home after dinner and ate a real dinner. Im sorry, I really want this place to succeed. If no changes are made, they will be out of business by July 2012. Mark my words.

Hey Fellow Unilocalers, So I went to this restaurant last week. I checked in, wrote a positive review. A few days later, Unilocal filtered my review and censored my post! Why? I don’t know. In fact, I didn’t even know they did this until I went back to the Crawfish house a few days ago. I was chowing down on some very delicious lobster tail and sucking down oysters when I started chatting with one of the waitresses. She said she recognized my face from Unilocal and thanked me for the review, even though Unilocal took it down. I was like WTF? Why?! SO I logged onto Unilocal and low and behold, my review and 11 other positive reviews were taken off and filtered! The waitress said that every positive review they got, it was taken down. In the mean time, Unilocal had been calling the owner trying to get them to pay $ 350 membership. Implying that their positive reviews would no longer be filtered if the restaurant paid. I was like, really? For real? That’s like extortion. Or something. I was pretty upset so I posted a review on Unilocal and gave them a really bad, upset piece of my mind. That is not right and totally not fair. Since my complaint, they’ve put my review back up. But here’s another review in case one gets filtered again. =P That’s for you, Unilocal! So let me write a detailed entry about this restaurant. The décor is cute. I found out that the restaurant was built with the love and care of a huge Vietnamese family. Nieces created artwork, the brother designed the restaurant, another family member painted in the back. The waitresses are other family members and close friends. The owner, a hard-working woman with a knack for spices and seafood. It’s a quaint, comfortable atmosphere with plenty to look at while you’re waiting to be served. And yes, the bathrooms are nice. The only thing I don’t like about the décor are the neon lights. They’re bright and beaming and make me feel like I’m at the office. Oh, and it would be cool if they played jazz instead of techno. I mean, it would fit more with the theme of the restaurant, but these are minor details. The wait staff is very nice, attentive, and friendly. If you order Corona, they ask if you want a lime. If you order a Heineken, they ask if you want a frosted glass. Way to anticipate my liver’s fine appetite! :) Either time I was there, the food did not take long to come out. Though each time I was there, there was 3 – 4 other tables.(I eat late dinners which is bad for my thighs, but whatever). And it’s always steaming, hot, and fresh. I mean, the food at Crawfish House. Not my thighs. Beware of other seafood restaurants that don’t get their shipments regularly. This is not one of those places, thank God. The way you order is per entrée. So when I go, it’s with others. We order a few things and share family style. With a bowl of rice or some corn on the cob or fries, it’s pretty filling. Though I AM Asian so maybe it doesn’t take that much to fill my stomach. My boyfriend will tell you I can eat like there’s no tomorrow though! Especially when the food is good, which is the case at the Crawfish House. The garlic sauce is really that: GARLIC. And they don’t give you the American version of «spicy» either. It’s for real. Note to former writer about crawfish: You order a lb. and you get a lb. of crawfish. With shells. You’ve never had crawfish? The meat is tiny, dude. If you want crawfish, you don’t get it to fill you up. It’s mainly for taste. But that’s just my opinion. And it’s quite juicy. I’m going to New Orleans next month for Mardi Gras so I’ll be able to compare the difference between authentic cajun food and this place and I’ll write an update then. All I can tell you from my taste buds is that it’s good. I’m Thai and I eat almost any kind of food(Japanese, French, Italian, Cuban, Mexican, Brazilian, Salvadorean, Chinese, Korean, you name it, I’ve probably eaten it) so I know the difference between mediocre food and food that is above par. From hole in the wall to 5 star dining, I know good food. Crawfish House is above par. They have my vote. Read the filtered comments if you don’t want to take my word for it. SCROLLALLTHEWAYTOTHEBOTTOMANDCLICKTHELINKFOR«FILTEREDREVIEWS.» @Johannes: You say that the positive posts don’t have enough review evidence… Perhaps they are new accounts, but so are the negative reviews. Both fallunder the criteria of people who have little reviews or new accounts. Because they’re negative means they have no bias towards management? So due to your reasoning, can we assume they are pawns for Unilocal to coerce small business owners into signing up for their monthly membership fees and therefore they remain unfiltered? A review is a review. If there is legitimate proof that an account is false due to inactivity or low review posts, it should be the same for negative reviews. Nough said.

5 stars for service! It’s no boiling crab but when you live in morgan hill it’s nice to have an alternative than to drive all the way to San Jose. The place is pretty new and is still working things out. They had pretty good food. I preferred the garlicky sauce over the house. Will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu !
