Service sucks, been a few times with others not my choice!!! One server named Mary red head had this snobby too good attitude! You would ask questions and she had attitude, she would answer with annoyance! One server flirted too much with my nephew with his wife next to him!!! I found out from someone that used to work there that the servers eat off of customers food before being delivered!!! Just take fries and help themselves to fajita meat and veggies, what manager let’s that go on? Oh the ones that do it too!!! Overheard servers discussing other tables and how they talked about customers was rude! Dined in the bar one time, I thought the blonde bartender’s boobs were gonna pop out!!! Everyone else has uniforms, why is it that a supposedly nice restaurant portrays such vulgar dress code ? The food is tex mex and everything is topped in chili sauce, Mexican and chili sauce??? The salsa is tomatoes and sauce, disgusting!!! Needless to say unless you want your food eaten before it gets to you by fingers touching all sorts of things and by people not washing their hands after the bathroom, a attention hoarder bartender, little whore servers(not all), snobby rude service, cheaply made over priced food and bitchy servers then this is your place!!!

Had an extremely hunger & thirst for Mexican food and a decent margarita. This restaurant met all my expectations! I had cheese enchiladas with onions and it was wonderful! The refried beans and rice were the best. My only disappointment was the flour tortillas served on the side. Tasted like store bought tortillas that were microwaved :(

The salsa here is the worst that I have ever had and tastes like heated rotel. The guacamole is ok. This place is a local favorite however. I had the enchiladas suiza which was ok. Refried beans were horrible and the rice was off tasting. The enchiladas with mole was also too sweet. I suggest El Toro for fresh ingredients and good Mexican cuisine.

This is by far the best Mexican food we have ever eaten. The fajitas came out perfect sizzling tender and the display was phenomenal. From New Orleans Louisiana to Morgan City and thumbs up to the best fajitas in the area.

The margaritas taste like they are poured from a plastic jug, the salsa is served hot and tastes like spaghetti sauce, and I was served the worst fajitas I have ever had and it’s pretty hard to screw them up. Your call

I am originally from Morgan City and Tampicos has been around longer than I have. Other than a hand full of fast food restaurants in town this is the nicest place to eat near home. With that being said, I came into town for the annual Shrimp & Petroleum Festival weekend and took my kids there for dinner. At first step inside, the place was close to empty and we had to wait for the hostess to see about us. When she got to us she was obviously brand new at this job because she told it would be a few minutes as she had to go look for us a table and there was ATLEAST40 empty tables in the place that I could see from the entry way. Once seated, our waiter was so unhappy to be where he was, he really should have just punched out and went home because his irritation just rubbed off on me. After taking our drink order and bringing them to our table, my 10 year old knocked over his glass of lemonade immediately so we asked for a towel. With even more aggravation on his already miserable face he went into the hall and HOLLERED for the bus boy«NEED A TOWEL!» it was so rude and unprofessional, I was appalled. It only went down hill from there. My order was wrong, I made a mental note of how I ordered my food because I knew he was going to get it wrong. It was nothing major… just a salad with no black olives and of course it was full of black olives so I sure did make him work a little harder and I sent it back because he was such a jerk! Also, this guy didn’t give us any options of ordering small anything. Everything that I ordered that I didn’t specifically say small… queso came large(we wasted it), small soup came large(my son and I shared it) small margarita well that was ok, lol! So, I overheard a conversation he actually had with the next table, he complained that he was supposed to get off of work 2 hours earlier and obviously wasn’t getting off anytime soon. That explained his mood. Long story short, he worked hard on my table with his bad attitude and got no tip.

The chips and salsa are pretty decent, and I do like there steak fajita salad. That is the best thing on their menu. Now, I am quite a foodie, and I am also a culinarian. Mexican food is one of my favorites, after all, I grew up in a state that was once part of Old Mexico. This is more Tex-Mex. Poorly done Tex Mex. Poorly done Tex-Mex with horrid service.(The one in Bayou vista, down the road, has really good service, though.) The food is decent. Especially for this gawdforsaken swampland. If you fear real Mexican food, but want a decent feeling atmosphere that feels Mexicanish in a norteamericano way, certainly stop by here. No. The Bayou Vista one. Not the Morgan City one. If I was reviewing it with the service I get in Bayou Vista, and i had only ever eaten the steak fajita salad, there would be 1 more star. The price is quite a bit steeper than it ought, so watch your ascent, as you may twist an ankle. If you do want some real, delicious, healthy(depending on your personal choices here) food, stop by La Morita’s Meat Market across the street from Quiznos on Victor II Blvd. If you want Tex-Mex, hop on over to the Tampico’s across the bridge in Bayou Vista. It is only, maybe, 1.5 to 3 miles away. Hop, skip and a jump! Hope it was an enlightening experience! Make sure to lace up your boots, ya hear?

Food was just ok, service a little slow, no one came by to refill water glass. Plate was blah, used to real Mexican food. Won’t go back.

Yikes. Our bill came out to $ 70 for two basic tacos with sides, a chimichanga with sides, two margaritas and cheese dip. My husband asked for a mixed meat chimi and the girl told us they couldn’t do that because the food was pre-made(so… Bought that way? Frozen? Prepped in advance?) ANDTHEQUESOWASCANNEDBALLPARKNACHOCHEESESAUCE, and it cost almost $ 10! Good grief, it was gross. Coming from Texas we know authentic Mexican cuisine and this is NOT it. You’re basically over-paying for sub-par food and an atmosphere that is overrun by the bar’s dance music. Never again.

Good drinks. Very bad service. Came here two years ago and it was bomb. Sat at the bar over 30 min later, they asked nothing. And people next to me got served. Very disappointed.

A little hard to find and a little on the pricey side. But the food is extremely good and big portions. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I have been to many Mexican restaurants throughout the country and Tampico is easily the best one I’ve ever been to. The homemade salsa is so good that I wish they bottled and sold it so I can take some home! I recommend ordering the Burrito Supreme, its delicious!

I travel all over the US and this is by far the best Tex Mex in the country. Bar none. The Burritos are AWESOME. The salsa is usually AMAZING. Some times they get a weak batch of peppers so the salsa is a little weak but most of the time it is drink it out the bowl good. The fajita Chimi is sooooooo good. You can’t go wrong eating here. They do have a few real Mexican cooks and the salsa and chips are made fresh at the restaurant. AWESOME!!!

Blandest food you ever want to eat. They call themselves Mexican, what I’d call it wouldn’t be allowed here. I was sick the entire next day from food poisoning. Rude staff, slow service and high prices.

Tampico is a very good Mexican restaurant, and possibly one of the better restaurants in the general area. Morgan City is not exactly known for their fine dining, so the competition is low; regardless, it is clear that Tampico goes above and beyond to make the experience in their restaurants authentic and memorable. This restaurant is located in a largely abandoned strip mall complex, and if it had not been recommended by a friend, I likely would not have«just stopped in.» The restaurants exterior is not very appealing, but there really doesn’t seem to be much they can do about that… The food was very good… the homemade chips and salsa were great, especially with the noticeable«kick» to the salsa. Its rare that you find a good spicy and hot salsa in restaurants today… some would find it too much, but for me, it’s perfect. Today they had an awesome steak dish… it was two fajita steaks stuffed in between with a chipotle cheese mix. It was SO good… I really enjoyed it and will look for it again on the menu next time I stop in. BOTTOMLINE: Best place to eat in Morgan City? Quite possibly so.
