After learning that the Wilkesboro area is known for its apples, I knew I wanted some, and Perry Lowe Orchards came up first while driving down Highway 16, so I turned in and decided to pay them a visit. Apples galore inside. There were tons of varieties available, over 10 at least. There were descriptions for most of the kinds but they actually offer samples so you can try some varieties you may not be as familiar with. The woman I interacted with was friendly and pointed me to some apple options for the purposes I had in mind. The peck and bushel terminology always confuses me but at any rate, I selected some bags of apples to take home after thinking too long and too hard about which apples to get. You could even buy cider, slushies, and dried apples, and even some other produce like garlic, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes. I bought a couple of sweet potatoes that were delish. I also gave some apples as well-received gifts and made some incredible applesauce with these fruits. Yum! Thanks, Perry Lowe!
