Super grumpy staff barking at guests and each other alike. Sandwich was sup par for $ 7.50

Institution in Moraga. Great sandwiches. Favorite is turkey with jack cheese or chicken with jack cheese

Horrible horrible customer service. These women were straight up rude and gave me and my family much attitude. Definitely never coming here again. Could not help but notice you guys were over the top friendly to your fellow white local customers. Welcome to good ol Moraga! Quite annoying that I even have to give this place one star

The only deli game in town, really, if you discount Safeway(and you should). You want the grilled chicken & jack add bacon on sourdough. It’s that simple. You won’t leave raving, but you will say, «Hey — that’s a SOLID sandwich!»

Not impressed at all. Paid 9 $ for a meatball sub…1. It was 9 $ so it better be good. 2. It was not even substandard. 3. It doesn’t come with cheese. The meatball sub comes with no cheese. That is just wrong. Also, they do not tell you this. If I want to spend money on a rubber ball and canned red sauce… I can make that at home. 4. I paid fucking 9 $ for bread and rubber. PASS.

I usually don’t like deli sandwiches, but I was extremely happy with the sandwich I got here!(I ate it too fast before I could remember to take a picture) I got a deli turkey & chicken sandwich on sliced sourdough with mayo, lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese, and pickles. The sandwich was a good size and they put a perfect amount of meat on it, not too much where it’s overwhelming, and not too little where you’re still hungry. I definitely recommend this place!

Sandwiches are decent, nothing fancy or crave worthy. The homemade sourdough was really doughy and didn’t have any taste. Cash only so be prepared. Took an additional star off because of the workers – unfriendly and impatient. Heaven forbid you start the line on the wrong side(yelled at a poor old man who was only looking at the menu… made me happy when he walked out). I’ve only been here twice, but had the same experience. Don’t bother asking questions at the counter, they’ll just say ‘look at the board, everything is up there’.

Pro: the sandwiches were a good size and tasted alright. Cons: not really sanitary, workers preparing sandwiches were not wearing gloves at all especially after gripping cash. They lady at the register was not very friendly and came off very rude.

I grew up going here as a kid in the 90s and the place hasn’t changed at all. Sandwiches are good; however, their sourdough bread is the star. I always get the hot pastrami with provolone and its never failed me. The cons are… a lot of the food in the glass case looks extremely unappetizing and the owners wife is a pain, but thankfully he is super nice. All in all I would never travel to Moraga to eat here but if you’re in the neighborhood than it is definitely worth going to for lunch.

Pros: Decent sandwich Cons: People behind the counter don’t speak good English. They nickel and dime you for adding things to your sandwich. If I put everything on my sandwich I wanted it would have been close to $ 15… The bathroom is small and gross. It was a decent sandwich but everything else about this place does not make it worth the trip.

I used to go to Saint Mary’s, and this was the spot to get your sandwiches. I would usually come here when I was sick of all the food at Safeway and at school, and it did it’s job. I would usually get a turkey sandwich with swiss. It wasn’t anything special, but it was a pretty large sandwich and it definitely made me full! It’s funny how a lot of people mention the way that the people that work here stare at you, and it is so true! I don’t know if they were having a bad day, all day, every day, but it’s very strange. I guess us college students can get pretty annoying! Also, it’s cash only. I would usually go to the CVS next door, buy a drink there and get cash back ;)

Best sandwiches in Moraga. My high school kids eat here at least twice a week. My wife and I love the chicken salad. Can get very crowded on weekends, but well worth the wait. Staff is friendly and fast. The décor is outdated and old school but the food out ways how it looks. Definitely a Moraga must visit.

Checking out St. Mary’s College and stopped by here for a quick sandwich. Walked into the place and looked at the girl behind the counter and was stared back at as if I was robbing the place. Uh, did I come at a bad time when it said you’ve been open for half an hour already? Onto the sandwiches… roast turkey with avocado on Dutch crunch for 7.75. It was okay. Not a lot of meat, shredded lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, red onions, mayo and mustard. Friend had crab cake sandwich on sliced sourdough for 7.50 which came with their cocktail and mayo spread. The crab cake was warmed and plentiful enough but I’ve tasted better in the City and Peninsula. Two stars for the food. Service was minimal and not even a thank you after paying. Other people came in after us and it didn’t seem the service was better for them. There’s other places to eat in the shopping complex that we saw had more people. This is a basic sandwich place if you need something quick and don’t mind quality or service.

Ordered the chicken sandwich, asked 3 times if it will be warm. When got it it felt cold, the explanation was that they warm up only the meat. The inside was hardly room temperature, surrounded by cold bread. Oh, and make sure to have cash or local checks with you.

I could eat their hot pastrami on their homemade sourdough all day! I went to Miramonte high school and throughout those 4 years I wondered why people loved this place so much, and finally when I was in college I tried it! I understood at that point what the hype was all about.

Good. Great bread. All produce fresh. Meats were tasty. Size of sandwiches. Bad. Pastrami and ham had little meat in it. Felt like a subway sandwich. Ugly. No credit cards. Only cash or check. We are in 21st century. Items purchased. Pulled pork on wheat. Blt on sourdough. Ham on wheat.

This place is outstanding. The bread is great and turkey is awesome. I haven’t tried and wouldn’t try any of their pasta or pulled pork or things that aren’t fresh. I always get roasted turkey on the house sourdough and it’s the best sandwich I know.

They were pretty busy, with a line to the door, but filled orders quickly. I ordered the turkey and avocado, no onions, on dutch crunch. It was messy, but very tasty. I’d go for a half next time and add a side cucumber salad or one of their other deli offerings. As others have already noted, they are cash only.

I came here twice to give this place a fair shot. It was ok, but not as great as the previous reviews made it out to be. The grilled chicken and cheese sandwich was pretty mediocre. They use real chicken breasts, not some processed meat, so I have to give them credit for that, but the taste was just average. The next day I had the turkey, bacon, and avocado, because heart health is overrated. It was better, but again average. I just felt like I could have made this sandwich myself and believe me I’m not a great cook.

I’m not to familiar with the Moraga area. When it came to being hungry at lunch I knew of this place from a friend and decided to stop by. It was a little later than busy lunch time so it wasn’t busy. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich with Pesto Mayo, Lettuce and Tomato. Remember its Cash Only. This was a very rare day that I actually had cash on me. Otherwise I would skip this place. They also don’t have a bathroom for public use. Which I really wished they had one but had to hold it in. As to my sandwich, I could have lived without the Shredded Lettuce. The sandwich would have been so much better with Romain or Spinach as my green. The Pesto Mayo was very good and made up for the crappy lettuce. If I decide to come back again I’m definitely trying something else. And I cant forget my cash. .
