Asakuma is a very cute little spot in our quaint little town. I have however, never seen such sheer arrogance displayed from the staff and the Owner when it comes to customer service in any other restaurant. We asked to make a small change in one of the entrees we ordered and we were told that the kitchen staff did not speak any English and we either take it the way it is or change the order. Really? Nothing against anyone not able to speak English, but why not have the Owner or someone translate for them so the restaurant can justify getting business from the English speaking patrons. I really hope that Ken, the Owner realizes how much he and his staff are hurting the business by having such stiff inflexible attitudes towards customer’s needs. Being a Moorpark faithful, I always try to promote businesses in our city but at some point businesses such as Asakuma needs to stop taking us Moorparkers for granted as well!!!

We had vegetable soup, spring rolls, chicken lo mein and Szechuan chicken. Everything was delicious however the Szechuan chicken was incredibly salty. I could only ear a few bites. We’ll go back but try something else.

Should just stick to sushi planet. Pad Thai very oily and not a lot of flavor, noodles were just one giant clump. Hot and sour soup was decent. Chicken fried rice was not great, little crunchy and was over cooked. Edamame was on point. Will stick to sushi planet in Moorpark from here on out.

We asked to sit at a booth and the platinum blonde, teenie bopper hostess refused to clean the table, so she sat other customers around us and made us wait. After the third couple was seated, before us, we left. If your employees don’t want to do a simple table bussing maybe they should find other more suitable employment elsewhere.

Nice place. Good happy hour choices. Sushi is good, but there are many good sushi places in the Ventura area, so I wouldn’t come here just for the sushi. I recommend their Sweet and Pungent Shrimp, the Calamari, and the chicken wings. Now those are some special dishes here.

restaurant is extremely dirty, be warned if you lift up your place mat, sticky everywhere. Food presentation is pretty sub par. When you ask for plates make sure you ask for clean plates. Silverware and plates ALWAYS have rice and other food substance dried on. I can’t believe people pay money to eat in that dump.

Okay, I give up. .. that’s the last time we get take-​out here. The cut rolls are not only huge and nearly impossible to get in one bite, but they also have a tendency to fall completely apart. Sushi is difficult enough to eat gracefully without having sloppy preparation factored into the experience. Obviously no care or thought given to take-​out orders — or maybe just orders in general. It’s too bad, because the flavor of the food is generally very good. There is too much competition amongst the numerous sushi restaurants in Moorpark to have to settle for careless prep.

Really wanted sushi tonight, so we drive 15 minutes to this Resturant for sushi. We had been before with great results… This time NOT AT ALL. We sit at the bar and have the happy hour menu handed to us. My sister orders a few items, I order miso soup. I then tell the chef that I would like 2 rolls off the happy hour menu and as both need to be cooked I don’t say anything for a bit. So 30 minutes later when I still haven’t received my order or been asked if I would like anything else (as if he had served me) I say are my rolls about ready? Dear in the head light look. We got the check and left… Sucked

The best sushi in town is coincidentally the best Chinese in town. Plus, wouldn’t you like to drink your boba in a glass (and maybe add a little something from the full bar)? The simple things are done well and the complex items are palate pleasers. They have GF crispy chicken wings, veggie tempura rolls, beautiful sticky rice. They have wonderful staff members. They have nice restrooms. Love you, Asakuma!

We were pleasantly surprised at how great this place is! Friendly wait staff and nice ambience. We had sushi rolls and they were very good! A little pricey, but well worth the cost. They also have a full bar. They serve Japanese and Chinese cuisine.

Ken is the owner & manager… He knew that the cooks got the order wrong & did nothing after guest waited while my food was served then they changed the pricing (much higher) while staff informed us differently… Green Tea which my guest was charged full price (for refills) for drinking while waiting for his order to be corrected. Staff was good & waitress felt bad about Ken’s position to not honor pricing reflected on menu & by staff… Ken just sits at a table in restaurant with paperwork… obviously focused on chasing a dollar at customer’s expense vs care to deliver a promise… won’t be back.
Planet Sushi, Kabuki & other local places much better!

Service was not that great food was not good at all albacore was so extremely fishy and scallops were even worse I am allergic to imitation crab, I told them that and they still put it on my roll, server argued with me that i’m not allergic to crab like he knows my allergies… Very small rolls for the price don’t go here!!!

Monday and Wed they have Happy hour all day. Everything on there happy hour menu is very tasty. Aloha roll is my favorite and the sushi fingers, which are lettis wraps with tuna. The Tia ice tea taste like a creamsicle, it’s not what I expected but really good

Love the idea that they offer Japanese and Chinese here. With a variety of places to sit: sushi bar, liquor bar, booth, or table.
They hand you like 4 – 5 different menus, 2 of which are the sushi menus and they provide you with a pen to write what you want. The other menu explains what the sushi rolls are also have a wine/​drinks menu.
The sushi rolls offer different flavors from complex to simple and their nigiri sushi is good quality. I ordered yellowtail belly and the slices of nigiri were portioned enough that it had a good bite & texture whilst melting in my mouth.
The Chinese portion is delicious, flavorful, quick-​serving, and abundant. We ordered the spicy eggplant and orange chicken. And amongst the two of us, we had to do take-​out.
Great space for family/​group dinners. Will definitely be back and taking my parents here. I totally recommend eating here!
