We usually have a pretty average experience here. Our latest experience was exactly that. We were seated promptly upon arriving. Our server immediately introduced herself as well as a trainee. They took our orders immediately since we were ready. Both the server and the trainee wrote them down. A short time later, our food arrived. The burger was fresh and hot. The fries were on the cold side. My shake ended up coming out after our food arrived, which was disappointing. It was as though they forgot about it. It only arrived after I reminded them. The trainee was not with our server half of the time she had interactions with us. He was too busy socializing. She acted overwhelmed and frustrated regarding this. Despite that, she did a really good job waiting on us.

Generally I’m a fan of steak’n shake. Usually get taco salads. Never go to this location on the weekend. Breakfast and lunch service during the week is usually good with the regular waitstaff. Tonight I drove through and got a taco salad. Never have I seen such a little portion so I parked, went in, complained and they gave me a new one. Looked ok so I drove home. Got about halfway through then drained the water out. Gross. Buy a salad spinner! Have been very disappointed on other weekends, so I’m done. Sidebar, the location in Martinsville has been lousy even during the week. Last time I was there, about a year, the manager complained to me about how much money he loses on drink refills after I asked for one. That’s BS. Soda is cheap for them. Hopefully he’s been replaced.

At about 1:00 a.m. with rain pouring down, I was told to wait at the drive-up. After getting drenched, I rolled up my windows and they lost another sale. They could care less. Prior to trying the drive-thru, I attempted to call ahead but no one answered. ATTENTIONMANAGER: STAFFYOURSTORE!

My experience here last night was so bad that I took time out on several occasions to look for hidden cameras and the slightest hint that Ashton Kutcher might jump out and tell me I was being punk’d. I will start by saying this was not the fault of our waitress but rather a serious problem with the back of the house and a lack of management that this particular Steak ‘n Shake has had for years. Let’s start with the fun stuff. There were six people standing on the grill line, one of which was actually cooking something. I was standing at the counter waiting to cash out for about 12 minutes, which is not an exaggeration because I timed it by their very own countdown clock for the drive-thru on the back wall. At least three of those people stared me down while I waited to cash out, and not one offered to help me or left to find someone who could. When someone finally approached the register, I could tell she was just waiting to hear a complaint from me. I held off because it wasn’t her fault, but in retrospect, I probably should’ve asked for the district manager’s contact information. By the way, they were about 10 minutes into the red on whatever they were supposed to be getting out the window. If you want an explanation on why it takes 45 minutes to get your food at this location’s drive-thru, well, there you go. And now for the rest of the experience. Steak ‘n Shake now has French Onion Soup. Awesome. I ordered some, along with someone else at my table. The cups they served us were barely ¼ full, so we sent them back. When our waitress went to check on the replacements, I could hear other members of the waitstaff over the wall making snide comments about why we sent them back. Guys… your kitchen isn’t totally closed off. It’s just a partition wall. We can hear every word you’re saying. A couple minutes later, the manager came to our table with the two replacement cups of soup, and it was pretty obvious nobody had taken the time to communicate to her why we sent them back in the first place. All this time, there were people in street clothes running in and out of the kitchen, a table full of obnoxious morons behind us that kept distracting our waitress(one of which was one of the aforementioned people running in and out of the kitchen in street clothes), and multiple other customers sharing their complaints in agreement that their experiences were also so bad that they couldn’t believe it was actually happening. Oh, and did I also mention they were out of pretty much everything? It’s a tall order considering there are so many, but this Steak ‘n Shake has to be the worst in the area hands down. I mention the Mooresville Steak ‘n Shake to friends or family, and I always get to hear some kind of horror story about why they’re not going back. You might see me in here on day shift when Connie and Laura are here(they’re the best), but I wouldn’t be going back on night shift if you paid me. I also never say this, but you should consider the«not recommended» reviews for this one. Save for a couple, they’re spot-on.

You know, it’s quick and tasty and cheap. That’s why we love it! Western BBQ& Bacon burger and fries + sweet tea was good enough for me this night. Yum!

This is one of the worst steak and shakes of all time you go to the drive-through and you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be in the line for at least 40 minutes. I went and I had ordered some food three burgers in total all of which were the burgers I’ve never heard of or seen that before definitely not my order the fries were flimsy and filled up half the box and I drove all the way home, when I had found out my order was completely wrong. So I called in and told them that my order was wrong first the manager told me to calm down and I’m the customer hung up the phone on me. So of course I called back a little more heated this time and I had had asked for her name of who I was speaking to and she wouldn’t give it to me she told me she was the general manager and I didn’t need to know her name right now. I had proceeded to tell her I want in my entire order replace because I wasted $ 15 in gas driving there and back for an order that wasn’t mine then she told me she would tell me what she was going to give me and proceeded to hang up on me for the second time. Still without a name my mom then called in and told her that how can you have customer service skills and be a manager and hang up on your customers to of been going there for years three times because she hung up on my mom too. Lo and behold finally found out the lady’s name and she is no shift manager her name is Sarah. And then I drove all the way back into town another 20 miles $ 15 in gas for only a fourth of my order that was replaced didn’t get my money back and all the district manager and corporate told me was that they appreciate my comments so they can fix the situation I want my money back because I will never ever ever go to another steak and shake in this area ever again!!! No gift certificates either! Only put a 1 star review on here because I had to to get to be next page to post. They deserve a negative 5 star review.

Horrible half cooked food, slow service. Customers were sharing complaints. No one was happy with their breakfasts. Dirty bathrooms. Walked out of the one in Martinsville last weekend, should have walked out of this one. Are there any decent Steak N Shakes left. Use to be a family favorite.

At this point, it isn’t a question of WHEN will Steak ‘n Shake mess up my order, because the answer is ALWAYS. The question now is HOWMANYTIMES will Steak ‘n Shake mess up my order in one visit. This visit, the answer would be four: wrong burger, missing beverage, no ketchup, cold fries. Seriously, this is my last visit to Steak ‘n Shake, period. It’s not worth it.

One of the better steak n shakes in the Indy area. Staff can usually be heard complaining about the pay, but service is always good. I Love the shakes!

I was not happy with the experience me and my husband had today. The cashier at the drive thru window had a bad attitude. She also got our order wrong. My husband gets the same thing all the time at Steak ‘N Shake, doesn’t matter what location it is, the price is the same. The total is usually 15. 40 and she tried to charge us 24. 02, we confronted her nicely and she rolled her eyes at us and was upset because she had to fix everything on her end. When we got our food and drove home, opened the sack, and everything was completely wrong. I am so disgusted the way she treated me and my husband! We are not giving this location anymore of our business!

Best fries of anywhere! Love the classic double steak burger fries and chocolate milkshake. Good thing I had a morning workout first.

This is the worst SNS I have ever been to, and the worst fast food place in Mooresville. I hear complaints about this restaurant from everyone who goes here. My last experience was awful. It took me 20 mins to get my food, the employees were rude, and my food was cold. I called to talk to the manager about my cold food, and was put on hold immediately. I waited for 10 mins on hold, then hung up. Never going back and will be calling corporate on Monday.

I’m not sure if they have new management or not, but about a month ago, it took over an hour for us to get our order, and when I finally complained(no one bothered to say anything to me before I complained), they did apologize. The manager did take a little off of our bill seeing that I was so upset. Tonight, my daughters have been there to order shakes. So far, they have waited 45 minutes — for shakes. They finally complained given that I have questioned their whereabouts. I will not be visiting them any time soon.

I was very clearly the guy who had just disembarked from a plane from somewhere that wasn’t Indiana and it was my first visit to a Steak N Shake. I noticed the Original Double N Cheese and then a California Double Steak Burger. Hmm… being originally a Californian, I had to inquire. Enter the(very friendly, accommodating) waitress… «Random question, how is the California burger different from the double cheeseburger?» «Well, it has California sauce.» «Of course! California sauce…» Friend gives disapproving look, promptly orders ‘Frisco Melt. So California sauce is Thousand Island which is now solely to be called California Sauce and sidebar, I have seen mentioned as such in other places, so that quickly needs to become a universal thing. But my snarky investigation aside, I thought they made a good burger. I said something dumb like, «damn, this is a good burger» and then they brought the check which was all split out per person and I loved Indiana a little more than I already did. I literally took a picture of the check. Heed this lesson California. I thanked our disarmingly nice waitress and wondered, for a second, whether a flight home was really a good idea. But thought, if nothing else, I would have to spread the message of California sauce.
