Finally found the good(read: authentic) stuff in Mooresville. There are lots of places you can get Americanized Mexican food, or TexMex, around here. Some are even pretty dang good. But this is the real deal. There’s a place like this on pretty much every block in most towns in south Texas, but up this way, not so much. The place is a combination grocery/butcher shop/restaurant, and there’s definitely nothing fancy about it. That’s what gives these places their character. If you’re looking for the cliché Mexican place– chips n salsa, crunchy taco shells, beans n rice with every plate– this is not that place, so be prepared. I recommend ordering 3 or 4 tacos, depending how hungry you are. I went with asada, pollo, and carnitas, but there are several other choices. All of mine were excellent, and my son raved about his chorizo tacos. Prices are very reasonable. Service was friendly and food came out timely. You would definitely have an advantage if you spoke Spanish here, but they do speak English pretty well(we didn’t have any issues communicating). I wholeheartedly recommend you try this place out next time you want some real tacos.
