Johnny Brusco’s New York Style Pizza

Ovens desperately need to be calibrated. You can tell they got used ovens and put new bricks in them (Used to work in a pizzeria) b. c the pizza is always burnt on the bottom and barely done on top. Will not be back. Sad because it looks nice.

On a quest for good pizza!
We had already eaten lunch near by but since we were in this area we wanted to at least try a slice here to go. So we went in and just ordered a slice of cheese to go. Plan was just to see if if it might be worthy of a trip back since we live on the other side of the lake and don’t get to this area very often.
We took our slice outside and each had a couple of bites. Crust was perfect thin foldable NY style. Perfect amount of tasty sauce and cheese. It is a tasty cheese also.
We will definitely make a plan to come back here for more! One of the best we have tried in NC. Wish there was one closer to us!
Only down side was the girl that served us was snotty. Handed us our box. We thanked her with a smile and she just turned away with a ‘tude. So we scooped up the $ 0.76 tip we left her on a $ 2.24 tab. You know who you are!

Pizza is good. We order take out mostly as the service can be slow at times. Dont confuse the rating, the pizza is good!

From the start I can’t speak for the pizza! Sorry…
Entering we were barley greeted by a young hostess that seemed as excited to greet us as she would a bill collector. Once seated however we were impressed with our waitress. She was personnel, attentive and worked hard, a 100% difference than the first impression provided by the hostess.
Like I sad, no pizza, but I did have a large Caesar salad with their buffalo chicken and it was excellent. Mrs. M had lasagna and she reports it as being good too. All in all, a pretty good pick.

Top of the line ! I had the wings in a tangy BBQ sauce that would make your tongue slap the back of your brain. The Italian calzone was over the top with taste and presentation just begging to be eaten. The service was what you would expect at a 5 star place. They knew what you needed and fixed you up in just the perfect time. Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere jamming to Dave matthews, And other good music I will go back again for sure

Don’t believe the naysayers. Was here on a Friday night (visiting from out of town) and the service was prompt and the pizza was excellent. Lots of good beer to choose from too. Not sure what happened with the negative reviews but I have no complaints. 8/​10, would chow again.

Great pizza and wings, nice atmosphere. Bar is local and probably fun all the time. Slow at 5 but good beer specials. Delivers with in 5 miles. Friendly staff and owners

I went there for lunch for the first time while visiting mooresville and I wasn’t impressed. The food was good but the service was awful. There were about 3 tables being used (not including the bar area) and the waiters/​waitresses seemed annoyed with serving my 2 friends and I. It took 15 mins for someone to get our drink order and about the same length of time for our meal order. Our waitress was nice, but barely checked on us. We went to pay at the bar because we waited 15+ mins on the waitress to return for our money. While we were giving the lady at the register our money, she was giving us dirty looks and acting irritated with us. Good food, but the service needs work.

Service was a little slow. Sandwiches were just ok and did not include any chips
or fries.

The restaurant appears to be clean and well kept and the staff was polite. We ordered take-​out, so I cannot really comment on the dining room service. We ordered a large 2 topping pizza and (hot) wings, all of which tasted great!

This place is a definite miss. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was dead. At one point we were the only people on the restaurant side. Our server Zoe never smiled once for our entire interaction. The food took way to long to come out for being the only ones there. We ordered the gluten free pizza and the buffalo chicken sub. The pizza was just ok and the sub was terrible because they seasoned the chicken first with Italian seasoning then they added buffalo sauce on top which is not a good combination. He ate less than half of it. The server didn’t even notice. Maybe the kitchen noticed that 70% of the food on that plate went back and we didn’t want to bag to take it home?! Nope. They don’t care. Just keep serving junk. :(

Not bad. I like it. Love the half bar half restaurant. Pizza is good and they put on a good show throwing the dough in the air. Plus the waitress are hot!!!

Meal was decent but service was bad bc they were understaffed. Waitress was complaining as well.

Went there last week, wrote a tip and now for the review.
First off walking in, the hostess an an extreme additude which I didn’t appreciate. When hostesses are unfriendly, personally, I just feel like walking out.
She sat us down after walking by and giving up dirty looks for about 5 minutes.
Mind you, there were only 3 tables filled at the time.
The waitress took forever to get to us and even longer to get our drinks to us.
Ordered a pizza, my son got a meatball sub and my daughter a buffalo chicken wrap.
Wasn’t impressed at all. The pizza was missing half the cheese and my daughters chicken wrap was no more than canned chicken chunks. (Yuck)
We had to ask for our refills and the waitress never came back to see if we needed anything. I just wanted to leave at that point.
I did, paid the bill and left, prob won’t be returning there. Good luck if you go.

Quick and Service are two words that are not in their vocabulary.
This is the third time I have eaten here and the second time for my wife. One time was for dinner where I ate solo and the other was with my wife and her sister after Church. Both of those occassions was very good.
It’s really gone down since then. Walked in at 12:40 and were promptly seated There was only one other couple in the restaurant. Someone took our drink order and we placed our order at 12:50. Shortly there after a party of 10 came in and all attention turned to them the exculsion of everyone else in the restaurant. 1:15 and the party of 10 gets their meal and we don’t see our order till 1:20.
Our order was not complex and consisted of two hot subs because we were going to a funeral at 2:00. Ended up only eating half of the subs otherwise we were going to be late.
My initial estimate was 20 minutes to get served but as I reconstructed the time line, it turns out to be more like 30 minutes. 20 minutes /​30 minutes does not make a big difference because in either case, that makes for poor service.
Subs were good however although you can only get the Subs on White Whole Wheat or in a Wrap. Very limited in selection.

Awful pizza. They have them pre-​made and stick on the toppings when you order then stick it in their oven to heat up. Cheese is not melty and pepperoni greasy. Stromboli is good. Don’t bother with the pasta. Lunch prices are reasonable but would not bother with dinner again. Also, ordered delivery twice and both times they messed up. Jets pizza is right by this place and the pizza is always hot and fresh so I’ll stick to them.

I ordered 2 slices of pizza and some lasagna. While waiting for the lasagna, they staged one of the slices of pizza on top of a microwave next to one of the cook’s iPhone. (Open kitchen) Yuck. I told them that probably wasn’t the right way to handle food and they told me that they understood, and that «some people are just germaphobes.»

This is awesome pizza! The staff is friendly and very helpful in making suggestions on the menu.
This pizza is the closest to New York style that we have found. Having lived in New Jersey, we know pizza!

The menu is diverse, pizza and lots of other goodies. I had a ham sub which was great. The dressing was a slight vinegar based, very good. And it was served with a fantastic pickle.
The beer choice was OMB Copper, local brewery. Very good indeed!
I shall return.

I would say the average rating for this place is correct… not awful, nothing special. I was here with a group and they organized well enough, with a salad station and a continuous flow of pizzas.
The service we received was good, the wait staff kept the beer and food coming among the mild chaos. The only way I can describe the food is… fine. Our pizzas were hot and not burnt, but the flavor was nothing exceptional. I tried the hawaiian and the cheese. A Jets just opened around the corner, so maybe the competition will motivate this place to do better.
No specific complaints, but even if I lived in the area I probably wouldn’t bother coming back.
