Not the greatest selection and Staff needs training on their products. My wife is looking for a new grill. We live in a condo and fire codes limit our use of outside grills on decks to units with less than 2 ½ lbs capacity propane. Downstairs with the 20 lb units are OK so long as they are 20 feet away. Wife wants something more convient that the big grill we have downstairs which does comply. That means a smaller unit on deck. Went to Gander Mtn because they should have what we need. They do but sales staff has no glue as to the disposable tanks required for these units. Refered us to Home Depot even though they have the basic unit in stock and on the floor.

Never again. Literally everything in the store is roughly 50−100% more than you can find elsewhere. For example, I cruised by the gun case and looked at an FNHFNS-9 handgun. I’m fairly knowledgable about guns and I knew that a fair price for this gun is around $ 450. Gander’s price? $ 660. I left and swung by Academy to compare and prove to myself that I wasn’t crazy. Academy’s price? $ 450. Unfortunately, Gander preys on folks who don’t know any better. This place is a joke. I received a gift card for Christmas, but I highly doubt I’ll be using it. I can still get what I want elsewhere for cheaper even without the gift card.

This is a really large, clean and well organized and stocked Gander Mountain. Of course their clothes and equipment are over priced, but that is set by corporate not the store itself. Check out line is always fast and friendly. The only complaint is the constant long wait at the gun section. They really need to double the staff in that area. Additionally, yes they do have a high shipping fee if you want to special order something as a previous reviewer said, but they are upfront about the cost… at least in our experience. If they would expand their staff in the back of the store to match their great customer service upfront they would surely be a five star location.

Like most other chain stores, Gander Mountain has it’s good and bad points. The good points are, the store is clean and fairly well organized. When items are on sale or on clearance you can get a good to great deal. The bad points are, regular prices are high. The firearms require a shopping to get help from a GM associate. Unfortunately GM is terribly understaffed, so if you happen to be there when no one else is you can get someone to help you, otherwise you’re SOL.

Too much hassle and over-priced. There is another shop in town that always has MUCH better prices and no hassle.

Almost DOUBLETHEPRICE… I recently had a rifle shipped to Gander Mountain because they were a FFL dealer. Everyone of the choice of FFL dealers you could ship the rifle to was between $ 20 an $ 35 dollars for handling the transaction. I choose Gander Mountain… I mean, You know, National Company… big store. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the would charge 79.95. I WASSTUNNED! While I was there I purchased a CASE of shells… looked at another rifle, rifle case… some accessories. Heck, I had found my new go-to-place. Until I want to check out. It never occurred to me to ask the price of handling the outside rifle purchase… I mean, everyone else was between $ 20& $ 35 dollars… RIGHT! I had a cow. I asked the clerk and he said he didn’t understand why they charged so muck… he had actually questioned it himself. I asked to speak to a supervisor. My life’s experience has taught me that if you give someone a chance to do the right thing… they usually will. I told the supervisor… I was willing to pay him the $ 79.95 handling fee even though he was almost double EVERYONEELSE… But it would be the most expensive $ 35 the store had ever made because they were going to lose a new customer not to mention I was going to post on every web site I could how OUTRAGEOUS their pricing was. He agreed and was very nice… until 15 minutes passed and the STOREMANAGER showed up. Not So Nice. I explained once again how out of line their pricing was… I mean, they pricing matching on every other item in the store… but this guy wanted to exact a price. WHATWASTHEPRICE… for a reduced fee, nothing less than my admittance that I was threatening him if I did’t get a reduction… and I mean he was nose to nose and in my face. By that time I was insisting that I should pay the radically high fee… and he kept trying to get me to admit I was threatening him with negative post(like this one). So, he reduced it to $ 39.95 and lost a customer anyhow. Why would I… or anyone want to go to a place where they will brow beat you if you present them with competitions pricing… even though it is their company policy. I didn’t purchase the hard case, shotgun, safe and other items I was looking at… because I know there is some other retail establishment who wants my business. Academy Sports… here I come!

Ever been stuck in rush hour traffic at about 5:30pm heading south bound on I-77? When you get to Mooresvile, Exit 36 everything is a dead stop. So why waste this quality shopping time moving an inch an hour? Pull off the highway, hang a left and find your way to Gander Mountain. I’ve spent countless hours wandering around here simply to avoid the traffic on the highway. I’m in love with the great outdoors so there’s no end to my excitement here. Maybe a typical review wouldn’t include this but if you’re looking for a store to burn hours in without ever having staff ask you a question or offer to help, go here. But on that note, if you ever find one of them and ask for help I have never found them to be rude or unhelpful. The entire back half of the store is dedicated to guns and hunting. Most of the time you can go back there and they’ll let you check out any of the guns you want to see even if you have no obvious intent to buy one. And, like a previous reviewer said, don’t friggin point guns at people when you’re handling them. Even if you know they’re not loaded. It’s just common sense and courtesy when handling guns. I also burn a lot of time on the far right side of the store just past the shoes where you can find a great selection of camping and hiking gear. And on the note of shoes, in that corner they usually have some excellent clearance hiking and running shoes. I bought my lightweight Merrel shoes there for next to nothing. Happy hunting! The season is upon us!

Adding this review just because I was pissed off this weekend. Went in to look at glock handguns and the kid behind the counter kept allowing customers to look at handguns and point them at other customers. Complained to another employee and they apologized but allowed the customers to keep doing this activity. I filmed it with my iPhone and plan to upload on YouTube. For this alone I won’t be shopping there again.

Too pricy and feels sterile. Little engagement with customers and prices where always above competitors. Otherwise, beautiful store, great variety and supplies, and decent location past Walmart.

This is a pretty big Gander Mountain in comparison to the others I’ve been too. It has a good selection of firearms as its also a Firearm SuperCenter. If you need outdoors clothes or supplies, this is the place to go.

I was out exploring north of Charlotte and was also looking for some new hiking shoes so I decided to check this place out. First impression was I couldn’t figure out how to get in the place. There’s a crosswalk but it leads up to a brick wall. To the left is windows but no doors. You have to walk around to the back of the brick wall to get in the place(side doors off of an atrium like thing”. Once in, it looks like a big warehouse with all kinds of outdoor gear. The shoe department was to the right as you walk in the door. Great. So I stop there. They only had one item in the brand of shoe I am looking for,. Prices seemed high as well. I think Dick’s prices are better on shoes. Walked around the place and they have a huge section of camping, hunting and fishing gear but I wasn’t into exploring my inner redneck today. It’s an ok store but I think you can find the same things closer to Charlotte. But maybe they are successful in Mooresville being closer to nowhere… um…I mean nature.

After purchasing a electric smoker which was a great price and works very well I decided to purchase a gas one as well. This was a small nearly $ 200.00 smoker that was on sale. It was a pain in the ASP to assemble with No part of the Smoker pre installed. And came with no tank which every grill I have ever bought in the past had a empty tank. The smoker was dented in many many places and was of very very poor quality with the metal having very very sharp edges that would have to be dulled prior to use. In talking with Customer Service they told me to take pictures seems they were calling me a liar. I took video and they could care less. They wanted me to disassemble the smoker send it back ? To take more time to do this with this piece of JUNK would be useless. It should be in the trash. Amazing how POOR quality and Poor Customer Service
