The letter I just submitted to corporate: I stopped by to pick up a shirt quickly for an upcoming event. I have recently had a baby(hence the need for a shirt in a pinch — maternity items don’t fit, regular clothes are a bit too snug still) and really needed to return home. At checkout, I was asked for my phone number, which I gave, but it wasn’t «coming up.» The associate started the, «hmmmm have you shopped here before?» conversation to which I replied«yes, several times.» He wanted another number to which I told him I really didn’t have time for this and can he just ring me up. Then he insisted on getting my first and last name, to which I asked him why that was necessary and he said something regarding returns — it was a $ 7.00 shirt and I assured him I would not be returning it. To which he then insisted on my name or else he could not complete the transaction. After I slid my card, he threw my clothes in the bag and literally THREW my bag at me. I’m not sure if your store policy is such that you must disclose personal information in order to purchase an item, but I have NEVER in my life been so insulted and harassed. Please know that I will be informing everyone I know of your company’s insistence on personal information in order to purchase anything from your store, as well as the exceedingly rude and disrespectful treatment I received at your Moorestown location. As a professional with a LinkedIn network of over 1,000 business professionals and a personal Facebook friends list of 700+, I will be communicating my experience far and wide.
