The food was in no way worth the $ 15 I paid for my burrito bowl with steak. It was drowning in spicy sauce, the menu did not warn it was to be that spicy. Also, why do they call it grainbowl when there is no grain? Totally disappointed in this experience. Idea is good, but they are getting it wrong here.

Went here for lunch with a couple more people. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff came around twice to see if everything was ok. I’ll definitely be going back.

I’ve been traveling to Montvale often for work lately and specifically seek out organic and non-GMO food, which is often difficult to find. I love this place. Good food, nice people, and willing to customize menu items and make off menu items as well(if they have the ingredients). I can customize to align to my paleo diet. Oddly, I’ve never seen the place super packed. Busy, but never packed. I like their lately menu changes, especially the addition of steamed broccolli as a side. I wasn’t a fan of their other veggie side offering. Breakfast is equally as good as the lunch/dinner menu. Lately I’ve been getting organic scrambled eggs that they’ve been making off menu. I’m seeing some reviews where people are complaining about price, but I’ve found the price not to be out of line for a fast causual orgianic resturant. The closest comparator is Bareburger(organic burger chain in NYC) and pricing is similar to there. Unfortunately you have to pay for high food quality and that is a tradeoff I’m more than willing to make.

The bowls here are unique and creative. The food tastes fresh and is cooked well. I also love their coffee some of the best I’ve ever had. Went here for breakfast as well and enjoyed my Mexican bowl. You can taste all the ingredients that go into making the dishes.

This is a remarkable restaurant. My wife and I came here while looking for a simple hamburger. The previous Unilocal review led us to try it. The hamburger was good but there was so much more: salads/bowls of all kinds. Varied meats, rices, vegetables and many sides. They were less salads and more one dish meals and interesting sides. It is hard to describe the restaurant itself. You order at a very welcoming counter and then it is brought to your table. The décor is modern/rustic. It’s good is healthy food and friendly staff It is well suited for take out We need more places like this It is kid friendly too.

I always feel good coming here because of the sustainable food options and it’s not super greasy. The place has never been filled with people when I’ve come, so hopefully this place survives! When you walk in, you go up to the counter on the left and then order and then they bring the food to you. The people are quite friendly and the service is pretty fast, too. It usually takes me awhile to order because there are lots of choices – from bowls to burgers and salads(and drinks). I’ve had the turkey burger(pretty good) and usually get the EVO Roasted Veggie Bowl with tofu, which is tasty. The Baingan, Asian and Mediterranean are recommended, too. For sides, I really like the EVO truffle tots(with rosemary and cheese). Each of these main dishes will run you about $ 10, plus more if you have other toppings, sides and drinks. I do wish the prices were lower, but I guess you get what you pay for.(I do like to get BLTs, but don’t really want to pay $ 9 for one.) One thing I don’t like is that if you sit nearish to the door in the winter and someone comes in or out, you get a blast of cold air coming in. Food Evolution is located in a shopping plaza with a gym, market, and some other restaurants, and I think it’s a good option along with the sushi place. You can always find parking in the lot.

Came here for breakfast with the family. We were basically the first customers of the day and as this was our first time there, the guy behind the counter took the time to explain everything to us — how to make your selections + order. We all ordered different items(breakfast bowl, french toast, egg sandwich, waffles) and they all came out very well — everyone was impressed. Even the kids, who tend to be picky eaters. We will try them again, likely for lunch/dinner and see how it goes T.

Healthy choices are a rare find-this place has it! I had the veggie bowl in a wrap, tasty. It’s refreshing to find a place that offers more healthy options than oatmeal & egg whites. Worth a visit

Came for dinner. Very quiet for a Friday night. I had the Asian EVO Bowl and it was very good! The restaurant was very clean, the food exceptional, the staff– friendly and informative. I was pleased at the amount of options available and the freshness of the ingredients. The price seemed on par with the quality of food. It appears as though most, if not everything, is organic /fair trade /etc, which is a refreshing change compared to most places we come across. We saw a sign for breakfast and are looking forward to stopping in sometime soon!

Great little find in suburban New Jersey. We stopped for breakfast and found it to be delicious– perfect for someone like me who appreciates quality whole foods that are well prepared and delicious. Good coffee, breakfast bowls with meat and without, fresh veggies, as well as waffles, French toast and smoothies.

First, I like the concept. And THAT and only that may justify the prices. I still think $ 51. for three people to have burgers with onion rings and two drinks is out of line. I’d pay twice that, however, if the burgers were flavorful. Second, the video shows a personable and welcoming owner. I guess when we got there, his doppelgänger took over. Not rude but certainly not inviting. Third, the Darwin was extremely enticing but quite boring. The Chianti was non-existent, the bacon was devoid of flavor and the Balthazar bun was mediocre. Guys, if you feed us healthy, we shouldn’t complain UNLESS the flavor profile is flat city. Sorry, I won’t be going back. Sincerest best wishes but I think you’ll be 86 before too long, what with so many flavorful burgers about. The Professor

I’ve been here a number of times and for the most part I’ve enjoyed the food here. For the past year, I’ve tried to stay away from the typical fast food places, so this is a nice option when I want to get a quick bite. I usually get the EVO bowl with chicken breast. The portion is a really good size, so you should leave with a full stomach.

After a week of eating Chicago deep dish pizza, along with a plethora of other not-so-healthy foods, my boyfriend and I decided to find something healthy to eat. That’s when I did a Unilocal search and Food Evolution popped up. It’s located within a shopping plaza so it can be really easy to miss — especially since the store front doesn’t look like it’s open. There weren’t many people dining on a Sunday afternoon at around 3 but I can see it getting busy during prime lunch hours. You order your food at the counter, grab a table, and someone brings the food to your table. I had the ground turkey Asian bowl, which had broccoli, shredded cabbage, roasted red peppers, onions, portabella mushrooms, and honey sriracha sauce. I think the honey sriracha sauce really made the bowl. It sounds really simple but the sweet and spicy flavor was perfect for this mix of veggies. My boyfriend said the turkey had this weird consistency to it, but I actually really liked it(or maybe I was just really hungry)! We only tried this place because we were in the area so I highly doubt we would come back. It’s also kind of pricey and the portions are small but at least everything tasted fresh!

What a great idea! The food is sustainable, yummy, and healthy. The kids menu rocks! If this becomes the new chain food in America, we could change our karma and improve our health at the same time! The staff were friendly, helpful, and provided great service. Loved this place!!!

This place is great! We were on a road trip up the east coast, and desperately craving something healthy, quick, and delicious. We found it with our dinner here! Such a great alternative to rest stop food. We both got Evo bowls(his with bison, mine with chicken), then shared a side of roasted veggies. Everything was fresh, organic, healthy, and really tasty. It’s a bit pricier than rest stop food, of course, but not by much, and it’s really good value for the quality of ingredients. The owner came out and checked on us and chatted about the menu, which was really nice. It’s too bad we don’t live nearby, we would come back all the time. As it is, we’ll definitely be stopping in on the road trip home!

So another place nearby that I finally decide to try. I walk in and the place is nice and quiet with some music playing in the background. Menu was very big and I was intrigue by the bison but I decided to settle on steak instead as my meat. A nice lady took my order and she was explaining to me about their new loyalty program which I did sign up for(I’m definitely trying the bison on my next visit). I decided to go with a make your own bowl with steak as my protein, BBQ style, and sauteed spinach as my base. I did take out and my food was prepare pretty quickly and box up and put in a brown bag. So onto the food part. Man was it good, I really like the bowl and the steak and spinach and BBQ style really goes together, the steak was well cook, and spinach sauteed nice and go really well with their BBQ sauce. I’m definitely a fan and will be back.

Evolve your meals, evolve your life! With luxury-burger prominence on the rise, Food Evolution offers a variety of hand crafted dishes from burgers, bowls, salads, sandwiches, and smoothies! A healthy and affordable option that gives you the choice of proteins(organic fed beef, turkey, bison, chicken, salmon, bacon, eggs, beans, or tofu) paired with organic veggies, cheeses, and dressings that can be combined in a multitude of ways for your indulging pleasure. It’s that simple concept of letting people mix their meals through a variety of choices paired to your liking was something we were missing but has been on the rise once again over the past 5 years. They go with the simple ordering system of pick a meat & veggies and decide how you want it served and you’re on your way to a savory satisfaction. I went with a bowl to keep the carbs down before the gym, but it’s certainly a place I will return to for their enchanting burger options like the Darwin & Eggstreme burgers; not to mention their bacon & cheddar option! If you’ve got a craving for something a bit different, certainly healthy, and ready to please everyone in your group, than Food Evolution is your sustenance headquarters! Placing itself right in the middle of the Montvale Fresh Market Shopping Center, it’s certainly a place to check out either going to or coming from the gym to give your workout that extra boost of protein without weighing you down or making you feel heavy afterwards. Take a gander at their smoothie options as well if you’re looking to go even lighter on that meal option.

What can i say? I’m a fan. im in town for work training again and I decided to bring a coworker to Food Evolution to see if it was just me with an empty stomach the first time or if F.E. really was all the hype i made it the first time. i have to say. Food Evolution DELIVERS. This time I ordered a Burrito Bowl, BBQ style(includes BBQ sauce, onions, portabella mushrooms, brown rice, quinoa, and a few other fixings. You can order your base, style and protein, so mine was BBQ, with Brown rice/quinoa and Ground Turkey. HOLYCOW. the burrito bowl was amazing. full of flavor, fresh ingredients, the BBQ sauce was not overbearing and did not mask all the other flavors. I also got a side order of Organic Mac n Cheese. It was extremely cheesy and full of flavor. I will admit that the Mac n Cheese was a but too much, very heavy and very cheesy(a good thing in certain cases) my friend ordered a burger and was blown away, he also got the truffle tots and was amazed at how great the food was. service was impeccable, food was brought to the table with a smile and friendly service. they were polite, cordial and really made you feel welcome when you walked in. The location is clean clean clean. very upscale for a «fast food» joint and they really take pride in their food. I highly recommend giving this place a try and I promise you wont be disappointed.

As a child, I was told that evil was introduced into this world of ours because Adam ate an apple. I did not need any further proof that eating healthy could not be good; our Creator did not intend for us to eat apples. Far be it from me to stray from the path of our Lord, so my dietary habits constitute the consumption of burgers. I find myself in Montvale every now and again, and was excited to find this new place that serves burgers. On my first visit here, I had the eggstreme burger with baked fries. I was extremely satisfied with how the burger and the egg were cooked, with the yolk running into the hamburger patty, enriching its moisture and flavor. The turkey chili is a hearty portion with generous amounts of turkey and red beans, the buffalo bleu burger could use a little more hot(buffalo) sauce because the turkey patty tends to get dry, and the mac and cheese is creamy and tasty. The salmon sandwich is served on a flaky croissant, and the red pepper aioli gives it a nice flavor(I need some extra aioli on my sandwich). The service is very friendly, although they never seem to get my name right. That’s OK, though, as I do not espouse the view that the top priority of every person should be to perfect the pronunciation of my precious name(I do expect applause for my alliterative mastery, though). The general practice is to place your order at the register and pick up your food at the counter, but they often bring your food to your table when the restaurant is not too busy. On one occasion, they got my order wrong, and even though I did not have the heart to complain(because they’re just so nice), they gave me a coupon for a free burger for my next visit. Overall, 3.5 stars for the food, and 5 stars for the very cordial service.
