Amazing atmosphere and unbelievable food. Service was spectacular(I believe our waiter’s name was Lee). The steak was extremely juicy, as well as the burger. The proportions were very generous(including for the dessert) and everything came in a timely matter. My only complaint was the grilled chicken salad was a little over dressed. However, everything else was so amazing this place is definitely worth 5 stars.

Just moving to this side of town my second time here. I found this restaurant to be amazing! Awesome happy hour other than the delicious drinks here their food compares to the City Style top of a line tast. This Cape Cod girl just enjoyed a lobster and crab baked with black rice with coconut shavings yummy. A special thank you to the manager who bought us a glass of wine. Thanks for the hospitality and having us in your establishment we will be back.

Excellent food. Had the blue cheese crusted filet mignon. Perfectly prepared. Also enjoyed a salad with seared tuna that was delicious. The staff was all super friendly and kept my beverage full! Lovely ambiance too

When one of my managers told me that we were eating at a place that was in the Courtyard Marriot I already knew my boss’s delicate pallet would cringe when he found out, but we already had reservations so he had to deal with it. When we walked in we all were surprised at the ambiance. The lighting was very warm and inviting and the décor was trendy but comfortable. My boss actually complimented it(Shocker!). The waiter comes over and he is very sweet. I wish I would have remembered his name but I was already two Kettle and clubs in from the pregame at our hotel. So we started with drinks. Kettle and club for me(of course) and a bottle of Pinot Noir for the boys, and one for me too :-). The wine was delicious. For a Pinot Noir it wasn’t heavy at all. I wish I got the name of it but… So our nameless, sweet waiter comes over to take our order. We start off with the raw bar sampler. It was delicious. The oysters were super fresh and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I had to remember where I was when I got tempted to lick the little cup that the aioli was in. It was that good. So I ordered the pan roasted North Atlantic halibut. It was accompanied by a rock shrimp polenta. The halibut was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It went so well with the salsa verde. The polenta??? Ehhh… Not a fan. Don’t get me wrong, it was tasty but I think I would have preferred a mash instead. My boss had the same and he kept on with the compliments(Shocker!). Because an excellent meal and a bunch of drinks weren’t enough calories for the day I ordered desert. Why not?! So I had the carrot cake. My boss had some warm apple something with ice cream that he made me try, even though I really don’t like fruit deserts but I took a bite, smiled and nodded because he is my boss. I guess his was good if you like that kinda desert. My other manager got the cheesecake. They all looked great. I thought my carrot cake was good. If it wasn’t for the ice cream the cake would have been slightly on the dry side. My boss said it was dry(Shocker!) but he was right that time. All in all… Very good. Great night.

Went lunch time on a Thursday with a buddy who works for corporate in the area. Looks like they get busy with all the corporate buildings. Only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated, not bad. The waitress was attentive and came over almost immediately to take our drink orders. The food took a little long to come out but was perfect(Fire and Oak burger). I’d check it out again if I was in the area.

I stopped in here for a late lunch in between lunch and dinner. This is usually a weird time at most restaurants. So I just sat at the bar where they had a limited menu. I’ve been here plenty of times it’s so close to my house so I know the deal. I sat at the bar by myself and had a snack. I got some very fresh Kumamoto oysters and a 2 gin martinis and was on my way. I’ve dined here plenty of times and have never been disappointed. The owner/manager Josh stopped over to say hello as he always does. As a fairly regular patron others may or may not have the same experience, but, I always feel more than welcome here. Fire and Oak is perfect and I’d recommend it to anyone.

Fire & Oak is the restaurant attached to the Marriott in Montvale. I’ve been here a few times for lunch and dinner and every time I have tried a different part of the menu. They have oysters, burgers, steaks, even sushi. It’s an unorthodox mix of foods for one menu but they make it work. Each night of the week they have a different special, Monday night is $ 1 oysters which brings in a big crowd. If you want to skip food it’s great for just drinks. I would say the beer selection is good not great, better for cocktails. It’s a little pricey but not out of control considering the area.

You would never think that a restaurant this nice looking would be tied into a courtyard Marriott hotel. It was very nice on the inside. All wooden beams along the wall. Bathrooms were cool looking and clean. Atmosphere is cool looking. Kitchen is completely open. You can see your food being cooked. Food was good. Appetizers were a little overpriced but the portions were big to make up for the price. Overall, it is a very nice restaurant with only one major problem… Loudness. It was so loud during dinner that I couldn’t even hear the person next to me or across from me. Extremely loud and they have rugs to absorb the volume. That was the only turn off. If you like really loud high end restaurants then you will love this one.

Had it not been A prefix I would probably go lower than 2 stars but our waiter was great and had to deal with some drunken guys at our table. His service was a 5 star! The food was very below average! The sushi was not very tasty. I had a roll and it was a strange combo To include macadamia nuts in a raw sushi roll. I am allergic so I had to send it back and they brought me a new roll. The fish was fairly fresh but the rice felt old, it was so hard. It was kind of them to give me a new one, since it was not on the description. I had the short ribs… And it was a bit salty for my taste. It wasn’t bad though but also Not great quality. The dessert was a red velvet cake… It was good actually but I only had a bite of it! The place was very loud and I just didn’t feel it was worth it. I definitely won’t be coming back! Sorry :(

Typically, I avoid hotel restaurants and bars as the last resort of pitifully unimaginative, or stranded, or lazy, or travelers that feel the need to avoid driving after drowning their sorrows. Fire & Oak is a rare exception, and on several visits service has been exceptional and food quality could not be better. I love the menu of contemporary dishes, including sushi rolls, risotto, seared tuna salad, and steaks for heartier appetites. Nothing disappoints!

Put on a nice outfit, grab a date, glass of wine and enjoy this lovely spot that has equally as good food as it does service. Make sure you make a reservation though because when we came we were going to have to wait but, luckily we were able to score a table in the bar as someone was leaving. Truffle Parmesan Fries: These are the best truffle fries that I have ever had. Loved how thin and crispy the fries were and they don’t skimp with the toppings. This is a huge portion size and you will not be able to resist the compelling want to eat them all so, make sure you have a group to help out or you won’t be eating your dinner. They have an extensive wine list and a great craft beer selection as well. I ordered one of their IPA’s and it was the perfect compliment to my dinner. For an appetizer we decided to order the shrimp cocktail. This was the prettiest and biggest shrimp cocktail that I have ever been served, perfectly chilled and I appreciated the extra dollop of horseradish on the cocktail sauce. The white sauce that was served with it was also perfectly balanced with the shrimp. My guys dad told us that we could split the prime rib and it would be enough for both of us. Boy am I glad that he said that because it was massive. This delicious cut of beef was not only high quality and a large portion but, it melted in your mouth with a side of au jus and horseradish sauce that just lent to the excellent experience. The baked potato was loaded with everything(bacon, chives, cheese, butter and sour cream) and was like taking a bite out of a sinful snack that your mom would never let you have as a child. Our service was more than five star service and our waiter had a very personable and funny personality. We needed to go boxes but, we all left with smiles on our face.

First visit to Montvale and the hotel staff recommended this restaurant. the place seemed full but we told the guy at the front that it was our first time and he seated us right away. The place seems romantic, a little bit pricey but food was delicious. The only con is that you sit close to other people and I hate when people watch me eat. I would come back

Finding a lunch spot near my office when you don’t have a lot of time is tough. Some fitness recently met me here for lunch and the place was packed. I thought I would never get out of there. But much to my surprise we all ordered pretty quickly and started chatting and catching up. Before we knew it, three filet mignon sandwiches and a classic French dip were at our table and we chowed down. I of course was the odd man out with the French dip and it was delicious! The bread wasn’t too crunchy and didn’t leave the roof of my mouth sore and the roast beef was perfectly cooked. It could have used a little more horseradish mayo but that just for me. The other girls said their lunch was really good too. Both sandwiches were $ 16-$ 17 each which is a bit much for lunch but it was worth it. And it was Friday so I treat myself.

I’ve only ever eaten at the bar so I can’t comment on the service of the waiters but what I *can* say is that the food here is AMAZING! I have eaten dinner here 3 separate times and I have been absolutely blown away by my meals every time. The last time I was there we had the BBQ Chicken Lollipops as an appetizer and they were so delicious! I’ve had a lot of the appetizers-the crispy calamari with artichokes, the Mac ‘n’ Cheese, some of the sushi selections. It’s all very well put together-there are so many flavorful ingredients in each dish that it really sets this food apart from other restaurants. For example, one of the sushi dishes we had actually had some crunchy nuts inside the roll and it made such an interesting and delightful texture-I’ve never had anything like it before! Also the décor inside the restaurant is really nice. You would NEVER know you were dining in a restaurant attached to a hotel. It is a huge space and has a really cool design and vibe inside. If you’re coming here for dinner-you will definitely not be disappointed. And order a glass of Sangria! They make the BEST!

I have stayed at the Marriott several times for business but never tried the restaurant until my last visit. WOW, this place is amazing. Such a fun spot for guest and locals. A bit loud for meetings, but perfect for unwinding after a long day. Vibrant bar scene which transfers over into the restaurant. Great sushi selections, steaks are perfectly prepared, seafood dishes are fresh and inventive, and the desserts are scrumptious. I am looking forward to my next visit to Montvale so I can go to Fire & Oak again.

For several years, every time I came to town, every one would take me here for lunch, dinner, and another dinner, and another dinner. It was for sure the restaurant to go to in Montvale. Being adjacent to a Courtyard and could be assumed as a hotel restaurant, it’s surprising how popular it is. It is not a hotel restaurant. The place is pretty hip and trendy, huge, with a higher price point compared to a restaurant that usually would be associated with a Courtyard Marriott. It is frequented by corporate crowds from all the nearby big businesses and they have some big companies headquartered in town. I usually don’t mind dining here. The food is pretty good and at least I would try to eat here once per visit. It just gets annoying if everyone wanted to eat there every day I’d be in town. Different people. Same suggestion. I have had burgers here to thick cut prime rib or boned in steak. All were pretty good. The foods are usually pretty to look at and fresh. The appetizers were great. I love their chicken lollipops, calamari, mac and cheese, and my fave the short rib quesadillas. It hits the spot each time. It’s a bit confusing because they have chop sticks on the table though they are not an Asian restaurant. It’s because they serve sushi too. I must say though they had a tiny sushi menu, the sushi ain’t bad. The raw bar for oysters is also okay. Anyway, I guess Thursday is cougar night. They have DJ every Thursday and the cougars would roam wild in there. Funny that I dined with a young coworker and he is 24 years old. Lol. He jokingly said he caught a coug! I should have never told him how old I am. Dammit. I’m not a cougar. I’m a puma but he said puma is a cougar in German. Oh, I had to mention about the coffee. It came in this beautiful stainless steel french press pot and it was made with freshly ground beans. When it came to your table, the aroma was so thick you felt like Juan Valdez was there brewing you a cup. It was pretty special. That whiff. Oh I loved it! The coffee itself was also thick and it was so damn good. Our server said it would keep us up for at least 4 hours. Not me, as I fell asleep right away when I got to my room. No caffeine beat me yet but that was super good. Another honorable mention would be the truffle fries. It was so so good in the past years and it was still good this last time. Not a big truffle oil fan but this fries are yummy. Anyway, this apparent cougar is still on the loose, but nested now and going to bed. Till next time.

This restaurant appears to thrive on the utter absence of any competition whatsoever in this godforsaken part of New Jersey. If you have the misfortune of being in the Montvale /Park Ridge /Woodcliff Lake area and looking for a decent restaurant, you will most likely find yourself defaulting to Fire & Oak. Not meaning to sound needlessly harsh, my rating(3 stars) indicates A-OK, and that is exactly what my experiences at this restaurant have been: not bad, not great, A-OK. On one of my visits here, I had the fried oysters appetizer(4 stars); the fried oysters are served on half shell, over a bed of cole slaw. The oysters were plump and tasty. I also had the crab cake lunch entrée, which was pretty good(3 stars). On a subsequent visit, I had the beef short rib sandwich, which looked much better than it tasted. In fairness, it tasted fine; it was well seasoned, the poblano peppers and the monterey jack cheese went well with the meat, but the meat itself had a very high fat-to-meat ratio. The 2 stars for this results in an average of 3 stars for my lunch experiences here. My dinner experiences here have not been remarkable in any way. The only memorable thing was a nightly special one time, which consisted of mac and cheese with chunks of filet mignon that was quite tasty. The service is reasonably polite, but does not stand out in any particular way. Overall a decent experience every time, which is why I don’t mind returning whenever I find myself in the area, knowing there are no other options around.
