Closed/Suspended. Not sure why but that is what happened when I tried to go on the 26th! :) So call before you try to go and if you don’t make sure you have a backup plan…

Fun, fun, fun til her daddy takes the T-bird away. The best jukebox ANYWHERE. Cheap enough drinks. Friendly bouncers. Never wait for a pool table. Close to home. What’s not to like???

The Mix is a pretty cool bar. There was a $ 3 cover, I wasn’t too happy about that but, every Tuesday till 11 was $ 1 well drinks, so I of course had a cape cod in each hand. Also they have kamikaze shots for $ 1 all the time. I believe every other day they have happy hour its around $ 3 for a well drink so not too shabby. The drinks weren’t the strongest, but it was only a dollar. They also sell pitchers of beers always good, cause its cheaper. And they have beer pong, which everybody wins. This is a good place to play pool, they had I believe 11 pool tables. Had a cool fire place always good for setting the mood. They also had a new dart board game. They have a pretty cool clubish area down stairish. There is another larger bar there, and tables surrounding the dance floor. It wasn’t the fanciest place but who can beat the prices.

Question: Where can you play beer pong, dance on a pole, and shoot pool? Answer: The Mix! Drinks are cheap here, and if you’re feeling competitive and started seeing double, then get a game of beer pong going. I would avoid the stripper pole, though. They didn’t have girls wiping it down like they do at other establishments.

I freakin love this bar. From the darts, to the stripper pole, to the strong drinks and friendly staff! I wish it was closer to my house because i’d totally make it my spot to go to every night. There is such a diverse crowd usually… everyones pretty cool. The juke box is a nice feature… the bar itself is HUGE. Atrium smoking area is neat… If you like divey awesomeness come here! The people that are talking crap need to shut up and accept the mix for what it is! Props to Jenna for making a tasty Jameson and Ginger Ale too!

This is definitely a local hangout. If you’re up for pool, this is probably the place to go. Don’t expect to dress up; this is definitely a casual dive. Drinks are decently priced; the waitresses are friendly; a must if you want to keep your night low-key and aren’t into the club scene. The bouncers give awesome hugs if you need one! Definitely a place to check out at least once or twice.

The place has decent beer and usually you can get a pool table. I only come here a couple times a year when old friends are back in town. I always see people I knew back in high school who work at the local gas station or grocery store.

Ever spent any time drinking in Lancaster? Palmdale… Ok, you probably haven’t. And if you have, you most likely lie about it don’t you. You gotta admit though, you’re curious to know if it’s as bad as some people say it is… uh hem… Well, save yourself the trouble of driving to the Antelope Valley, because there’s a little of the AV right here in Montrose CA. Albeit, Montrose is a very nice city. And to get to The Mix, you’ll most likely drive through a very hip strip of shops/restaurants/etc. Once inside though, it’s got all the makings of the proper dive. There’s plenty of wood paneling, pool tables, dart boards, and a separate bar in the back where cover bands play to crowds of 20 people or so… and can’t forget about the dance floor back there featuring a stripper pole! It may throw you off, though, when you get to the door and are asked to pay $ 3 to get in. Pay the man, take the ride. You may regret it initially, but you should probably expense that 3 bones to the cost for the cover band. So go back there, listen to some tunes, and get your money’s worth. And if you’re not a fan, and wish you had your $ 3 back, you can think about it as a drink subsidy, because drinks here are cheapstyle. All in all, if you’re an economist, this place will save you some scratch. It is a dive bar, there’s no doubt about it, don’t let the size of the place deceive you.

The Mix is not the coolest dive bar around, but its a special place for me. This is the first bar in LA that I stepped inside. Back in Sept. 2001, after Sept. 11, I packed my car and left Indiana for LA. I ended up sleeping on my cousin’s couch in La Crescenta and this was the bar he and his roommates went to. I’ll never forget the old guy who had darts on his belt and the weird way he threw them or that girl who was a waitress at the Macaroni Grill in Monrovia… I think Tuesday night was a deal on pitchers. Haven’t been back since 2001, but doubt its changed much. The Mix is nice, unpretentious place to grab a drink and hit on some local girls:^)

Saturday afternoon, after running loads of errands, Kieran and I headed down to La Crescenta to try to qualify for next years regionals. They were holding local qualifiers at The Mix. It was a pretty ‘divey pool hall’ with mediocre pool tables.(I really hope regionals are not hosted here). Everyone was really nice, the bartenders, the other partipants, but it just was maybe too dark, too dingy? I’m not sure but it threw both or our games off. After hours of playing, I finally qualified that day and got my bid for regionals! It was frustrating because there was a «peanut gallery» that felt it was necessary to give me pointers… that is NOT cool in my book and is one of my peeves, so of course I played worse with them staring and making their side comments. The next round I played they were gone and that is when I won my 2 matches in a row to qualify. Kieran, qualified the following day up at PJ’s in Thousand Oaks, a much preferred pool hall. The bar food and The Mix was«ok». I ordered fish and chips and they gave me ‘2 fish’. Their hot wings were good, but they weren’t buffalo wings they were just BBQ wings. Regardless, I enjoyed them.

The Mix is fun if you are bringing about 20 with you. It is a very large bar that at least on Fridays is way too empty for its size. The dance floor generally has some very shady people(think about movie Salton Sea) dancing… the stripper pole in the middle is often used though to only the drunk person’s enjoyment… overall, the good thing is that the drinks are cheap and it will never really feel overcrowded(unless it is right after Oktoberfest in Montrose). Enjoy!

A divey sports bar/dance club with cheap drinks, pool, darts, and sometimes karaōke. I’ve only been here once or twice, and it was very low-key, non-trendy, and the crowd seems to be mostly local regulars. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. A decent place to wet your whistle or shake your booty. I originally found this place when I was living in Altadena and searched the web for alternatives to Old Town Pasadena. I now live in Pasadena and still avoid Old Town like the plague!
