Montrose Optometry

I’ve been going to Montrose Optometry for many years, for both myself and my daughter, and Dr. Kim is really wonderful. I have super funky eyes — they have totally different prescriptions — and Dr. Kim has worked super hard to find the right combo of contact lenses for me (I wear two different brands). She was very, very patient with me in the beginning, when this took a lot of time to figure out. She also knew that my contacts would be fully covered by insurance, as they were considered «medically necessary» due to the disparity between my eyes. Her staff is very friendly and efficient. They have helped me chose frames, without pressuring me — I couldn’t find a sunglasses frame that I liked, and I felt able to walk away without feeling as if I’d wasted their time. The fact that they have Saturday hours is also extremely helpful for us working folk! Thanks so much, Dr. Kim, for having such a customer-​friendly business.

Really happy with their service. Dr. Kim is amazing. I love the staff. Yvonne is awesome. I finally found an eye doctor that doesn’t make me feel like I am on a conveyor belt. It is important to me to have a good eye doctor because I have an autoimmune disease that causes severe dry eye. They seem to take most insurance.

I do have to say «as good as it gets «for optometry is accurate. Besides the great selection of eye glasses I was extra impressed with Dr. Kim and staff’s sincere concern for the health (and safety) of my eyes. Eg, I only see well with one eye and Dr. Kim made quite sure (at least twice) I that was aware that I needed to protect my one good eye.
After a VERY thorough examination I bought two pairs of glasses without hesitation. I highly recommend Montrose Optometry !

My first visit was with Dr Kim and today’s visit was with Dr April. The staff are cordial and making an appointment is never a problem. They are always accommodating and have varied hours in the week so to ease your appointment scheduling.
Dr April was great! She’s sweet, quick and straight to the point. Dr Kim, just as great and thorough. Their prices have been fairly comparable to what I normally pay at my optometry in the past which is a hefty price, but all worth it since I drive all day for work.
They take insurance and I have VSP PPO, so just ask which one they accept. They also take private patients with discounts advertised and Unilocal check-​ins.

Dr. Kim is great! My son, husband and I all get our glasses from here and get our eye exams. Everyone in the office is friendly and makes you feel comfortable. I wouldn’t go any where else!

I literally downloaded Unilocal just to write Dr. Kim a review. let’s start off with her office. In a nutshell, it’s like walking into eyeglass heaven. Soooo much selection. Beautifully lit and clean. Then there’s the staff, which all of the ladies are very helpful and quick to give honest opinions.Dr. Kim will go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied and taken care of. You’re the best Doc!!!

First time here. Saw it on Unilocal.Patient and friendly staff. The Doctor explained all steps in detail and easy to understand language. The choice of lenses was good for my budget and the staff was very patient with my selection process. Easy parking, very contemporary and relaxing interior design. Overall very good. Definitely will be my optometrist.

I’ve been to many optometry offices since I’ve been wearing glasses (over 20+ years). This is the only place I go back to and this is the only optometry office I will be going to.

Dr. Kim and her staff were fabulous! They have the latest technology, and the most engaging staff. Their collection of frames are excellent. And finally, and most importantly, Dr. Kim’s solutions are spot on — I see better than I have in years. Thanks!

It was my first time here. This place is really nice, very clean and the staff is very friendly. Dr. Lee is great, I just wish she would’ve spent more time with me, she’s very quick so I didn’t get to ask that many questions. However, she is knowledgeable on what she’s doing so that’s a plus. They have a nice selection on glasses, thumbs up to that. Overall, I had a good experience, I will be going back :)

All the staff were extremely helpful and nice. It was easy to make an appointment. They were on time and explained the entire process of the appointment to me. They have a great selection of frames in a variety of price ranges. Can’t wait to pick up my new frames this week!!!

This place is the first time I felt like I was being treated properly and like a real customer when getting an eye exam.
I didn’t get to meet the official Dr. Kim but rather a substitute (?) or Dr. Kim’s backup as I got my eye exam done on a Saturday. The substitute (forgot her name) was really nice and I didn’t feel afraid to hesitate when I wasn’t sure during the eye exam (Dr: «Does 1 or 2 look better?» Me: «Um… not sure»). I usually feel afraid to hesitate and just blurt out a random number because I can usually sense the Dr is getting annoyed but here they took my hesitation into account for the fact that I really couldn’t tell the difference.
The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars was due to a pricing mix-​up. I called in prior to my appointment, and told them ahead of time that I planned on getting an eye exam for glasses as well as a contact lens exam, and that I would be buying glasses there as well. I inquired about specific prices and I was told my insurance would cover my glasses (up to a certain $), eye exam (certain %), and contact lens exam (certain %).
But after I got there and completed everything, it turned out I had to end up paying the contact lens exam’s full price. I wouldn’t have minded paying the full contact lens’ exam’s full price if I was told so when I had asked prior to making the appointment. But I was honestly slightly annoyed I was told I would be paying a lower price but ended up paying a higher price.

My insurance company changed… The staff was able to look it up for me and took care of everything. This place is great! Dr. Kim and Evon helped me select my frame. I highly recommend this place.

I came in for a long overdue eye exam and a new pair of glasses. Dr. Kim was extremely helpful and patient and answered all of my questions. I was done with my exam shortly after getting there. Yvonne then helped me pick out a pair of glasses; I probably spent at least a good half-​hour looking at different pairs, and she was super helpful throughout. I never felt like they were trying to make a sale or rush you out. Really good experience all in all!

I have been to other eye doctors and I did not feel like they knew what they were doing. Dr. Kim knows what she’s talking about. The staff is super nice. There is no waiting when you have an appointment. I was very pleased with their service.

Yay got new glasses! Everyone was super nice. I was able to get an appointment the same day and got my glasses and contacts within a week!

Excellent customer service. It was easy to get an appointment and once I was in all of my questions regarding procedures, next steps, and insurance were answered completely.

I found Montrose Optometry through my insurance carrier’s website, and couldn’t be happier. The staff are very professional, nice and knowledgeable; and «organized» doesn’t begin to describe how well-​run this establishment is.
I also really appreciate the frame selection. They have a well-​curated selection — you’re not faced with a jillion options that leave you confused, unsure and frustrated. There are plenty to choose from, and they are all high-​quality, appropriate for all types of glasses-​wearers, and speak to many different styles.
I recommend others visit Dr. Kim and her staff — they know what they’re doing and are happy to help their clients.

For years, I went to the mega optometry store in Pasadena (Dr. Lidexxxx) because I liked their large frame selections. However, the increasing lack of personal customer service, high turnover and factory churn process left me not wanting to go back.
By chance, I found Montrose Optometry. My daughters (age 8 and 10) and I had our eyes examined and everyone was SUPER great! The staff were very attentive to my girls’s first eye exam. Both girls have ²⁰⁄₂₀ but more importantly, they enjoyed their experience. Customer service is top notch and frame selection is not bad– plenty to choose from.
«Eye» don’t mind at all to let everyone know Dr. Kim and Staff are wonderful!
