We rented a cabin for 30 days. We agreed to a simple lease, which indicated that we would pay a $ 200 security deposit in addition to a $ 100 pet deposit. We found this to be fair. Upon move-out, we cleaned the place by the usual strategies — vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing the fridge, tub, oven, and sinks. After completion I asked the park host to inspect and she insisted that I had done too much. It looked great! I requested our deposit, and if possible to deduct utilities from said deposit. A few days later we were called by the host and were told that the deposit was available, but the owner(Peg) had deducted an amount of $ 50 in addition to utilities in order to justify steam cleaning of the unit. Frustrated, I would have happily steam cleaned(130 sq. ft.) for $ 50! What’s more, I know that nobody will be paid the $ 50 for further cleaning of the unit. The host will tend to it and receive nothing in return, as it’s a part of their normal duties. The owner simply pocketed the money. She saw an opportunity to be greedy and took it, which reflects poorly on her integrity. She should have noted that a non-refundable deposit/fee would be required, but she didn’t — she requested a simple deposit. Otherwise, our stay in that park was pleasant enough. We enjoyed the river which drowned out all sense of the highway. The landscape was well cared for, and most of the people we met were pleasant. It’s certainly a very nice place. Unfortunately, it comes with a greedy owner.

When we showed up it was absolutely beautiful there and so peaceful. We’ve been driving all day and our dog had missed its training. Peg was so sweet and let us run her in the field. We stayed right on the river in the cabin and couldn’t be happier with our stay. My boyfriend is ex military and is so picky but when we arrived we had fresh linens everything was cleaned, and it was almost a home alway from home!
