There are many tasty vegan selections. The prices are very reasonable. We eat here a lot. Phở Capital is extremely casual. Don’t expect refined service or hot sauce bottles without sticky tops. Sometimes the owners’ kids are running around. But we will keep coming back. Delicious.

Something seems to have happened in the last month or so… Where did the delicious food go? Perfectly spiced and fresh has turned to bland and greasy for 2 straight visits. Not sure what’s going on in the kitchen, but hopefully it gets resolved.

I love this place. The service is a little hit or miss but the good is awesome and the prices are great. I usually get the lemongrass tofu vermicelli or the vegetarian noodle soup– both are perfect comfort food for when you’re cold or run down. The restaurant is bright and open and they don’t mind if you linger. Awesome spring rolls too!

The food was excellent. The Vietnamese pancake was a highlight, but the meatball phở and chicken dumplings were excellent. The service was somehow rushed, but slow.

I stopped going here for a couple of months as, even though I’ve always had good food, the service is just terrible. I tried it again yesterday for take out and wound up leaving without my food. It was ready. It was sitting there waiting for me but the waiter couldn’t be bothered. I waited and waited and waited and then walked out. After continuously receiving really bad service here I wont be back.

I’m from California going to school at Norwich. I come to this place once a week because of the Phở itself. I love watching this place grow and I will always continue to go once a week. Go for the Phở it’s always good as are the spring rolls!

I am from California and we have wonderful Vietnamese restaurants and noodle houses there. I was hopeful that this meal would be on par. I ordered the egg rolls which were good. Green papaya salad was ok. And special beef phó. I was disappointed with the lack of complexity of the broth and lack meat in the dish. The broth was nearly colorless and did not possess the mouth feel of a properly simmered beef phó. The meat in the dish could barely amount to 4 ounces, if that. The special should have brisket but i only fished out one piece of the signature yellow fat that brisket is known for. I was happy to find this restaurant and i hope the owner takes my honest opinion for what it is. If better attention is given to the broth this could be a regional gem.

Best vietnamese pancake I’ve ever had! Can’t recommend this place enough. My gf and I were passing through town on our way to Montréal and we took a chance. Boy we’re we blown away. Quick and friendly service, homey understated décor, and most of all, fresh delicious food. I had the Vietnamese crêpe, and my gf had a veggie stir fry. Both were really fresh, tasty and came out in a jiffy. What more can you ask for? If you like to support independent family establishments, this place is for you.

The price for Phở and other items on the menu was amazing. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. It was one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in the area and I would recommend it.

Great place! Excited to have phở in Montpelier, it was delicious, as were the rolls and lemongrass beef vermicelli. The outside has plans to be renovated which will be great. Quick service, nice staff. Definitely coming back. Hoping this place energizes the sometimes mediocre dinner scene here!

The food here is quite good. We typically order the meatball phở. We also recommend the vermicelli noodles with roast pork and my favorite, the curry fried rice. Perhaps due to current high demand, they’ve typically underestimated the wait time for my to go orders. I recommend bringing something to read in case you have to wait a few minutes.

My first experience led me to walk out without being served. I waited months before going back. Round 2 was take out and they are clearing the bar easily. Food was ready on time, outstanding pork and rice vermicelli. I am a fan again.

Outstanding Viet food! We tried the Vietnamese Crêpe(ban xeo) and the Grilled BBQ Shrimp Vermicelli(bun nuong tom.) Both were wonderful with perfectly cooked shrimp and pork, crispy salad and delicate sauce. There is an artist in the kitchen. We can hardly wait to go back and try more. Servings are generous and prices reasonable. After returning, I must add a couple of cautions. Stick to the Vietnamese fare. The Thai stirfrys we tried were OK but not up to the quality of the Vietnamese dishes. And a Thai curry was awful — very watery. Service needs to be improved. Lunch was fine. But at dinner the place was packed and there was only one young waitress handling both rooms. Tables weren’t bussed, yet were ignored by the man standing behind the counter doing carry-outs. Vietnamese dishes, five stars. Thai food and service, two stars.

Finally a Vietnamese place in Montpelier! Phở broth was pretty tasty, cuts of meat could be better but I’m not complaining. Whenever I’m craving phở, vermicelli dishes, curry and/or viet iced coffee; I’ll be sure to come here since I work in the area. Conveniently located a little off State St., it’s only a short walk from the state building. Only complaint is that the restaurant is a bit small(as with many Montpelier resto’s) but has two sides to enter once you go in. Upstairs is a law firm.
