Jim Brown — Employee of Indiana Beach This Indiana Beach employee is constantly posting hate speech: Here is an example he posted about PharmaBro’s price hiking of a drug commonly prescribed to cancer/hiv patients: «What a shame the Gays with aids have to pay a little more money for the meds. If they can not afford it? rip» — Jim Brown, Indiana Beach Shameful to hire to such hate mongerers.

I used to love this place. I still like it and appreciate it, but since changing ownership, it isn’t the same. They used to have 25 cent days, where all of the food items and ride tickets were 25 cents. It also, only used to cost about $ 12 dollars for a P.O.P. bracelet which meant you could ride all of the rides you wanted. Now the price is much higher and it is being marketed for a higher paying clientele. They have modernized it and its losing some of the historic qualities of being one of America’s first theme parks, I used to work here in the 90’s when the original owners, The Spackman’s, still owned the park. I worked for Ruth, who was fair and determined when it came to running the restaurant, The Skyroom. My mother also worked at this park, as a swimsuit sales girl. The history of this place is priceless and I hope with the new ownership taking place this past September that it will be restored to the family place it was. There is also a huge music history here. Indiana Beach has new owners as of 9÷1÷15! It’s only 4 days later and we can already see positive changes. The first thing we noticed were happy employees. Everyone we talked to at the park said the new owners have plans to fix up the place. We also noticed some of the gaming machines were moved around. All the Quakers games are now in the Skeeball Room. That makes sense. Those games don’t need their own room. Also it appears the owners may go back to enclosing the park within gates. This could just be them gearing up to close the park for the season but I hope not. Back in the 80’s there was a gate you could enter by car only if you had accommodations in the park. The day trippers entered through a turnstile. Our parents let us run free as they roamed the boardwalk. It’d be nice if the park was secure after it closes each night. Bottom line is, the employees are excited about the upcoming changes and so are we. I am already looking forward to coming here next season!

Very disorganized amusement park. Upon first entering, we noticed that some parts of the park were open to the outside, explaining why they ask you to scan your wristband before getting on every ride. The rides are basically like carnival or boardwalk rides. I wouldn’t really call this an amusement park. Also, there seemed to be several rides that were closed for whatever reason. The pirate ride where you shoot at targets was actually under maintenance for a long time. But the staff did not tell people about it, and people continued to get in line for the ride. I think I waited over half an hour before I got on, but many people got frustrated and left. I think the staff was wrong to not notify or apologize to park goers. The water park was also pretty disappointing. I think half the slides were closed for some reason, so the wait was horrendous. And the lazy river was closed. How that attraction can be broken, I have no idea. Speaking of water, there are very few water fountains here so bring your own bottled water unless you are ok with rusty, iron flavored water. Overall, I was very disappointed with my trip to Indiana Beach, and I wish I had read these Unilocal reviews before coming out here.

I’ve been coming here since I was little and have definitely noticed a decline in years past. Let’s put it this way — there’s no way I’d pay to stay on property. The cottages had seen better days when I was a kid, I can’t even imagine how poorly maintained they are now, over twenty five years later. I was rather dreading our day trip here this July due to all the negative reviews but I had a lot more fun than I anticipated. We arrived a half hour before they officially opened and didn’t leave until 9 pm. We never stay that long so that alone tells you it’s not nearly as horrible as some people have made it sound. Initially I was perturbed that they now only offer the combo wristbands for $ 31.95 but after checking the promotions on their website we ended up paying only $ 17(and some change) per person. We went on a Thursday where if you mention you’re a fan on Facebook you get one admission free for every purchased admission. Since there were five people in our group we also brought in a Coke product to get $ 10 off that 5th admission. Not too shabby. The boardwalk looked cleaner than last year, plus I noticed many areas had a fresh coat of paint. I’m still bummed they got rid of the Flying Bobs, though. Plus the music was broken on the Music Express which was another disappointment(but at least it was running this year). We never bothered with the beach until this year. The beach water itself was disgusting so I’d recommend skipping that. I thought they started filtering the water years ago but if they are still doing that the filter must be broken. The water slides and lazy river were fun, however. I didn’t care for the size/price of their lockers, though. $ 10 per locker, $ 4 of which is refunded when you turn in your key. That would have been $ 30 in locker fees since they are so small you can only fit one person’s worth of stuff in them. No thanks! Food for the most part was reasonable considering it’s an amusement park. Drinks, however, are not, and I recommend sneaking in some water bottles because even when you’re purchasing food they won’t give you a cup of ice water, you have to buy a bottle of water for $ 4. What a scam! Plus they’ve removed all the drinking fountains and the two that are left are not in service. How convenient. I do think this place will eventually shut down if they don’t improve the quality of the older rides. I’m not sure if it’s any different on the weekends but it wasn’t busy on a Thursday and some rides were not operating. I’m not sure if that’s because they were broken or they didn’t have enough people working to run all the rides. Is the grand carousel by the lake EVER running? Doesn’t seem like it. That being said, it’s still a fun place to visit with the family for especially if you’re not a roller-coaster junkie(although if you are they do have a few, including a new smooth metal one that my husband and stepson really enjoy). Oh, and at the very least it’s worth it to come here for the tacos at The Taco Shoppe. They have always been my favorite.

Kind of run down and old but still fun for the whole family. I wish I could find a video of their 1980s commercial with the crow.

Sorry to say corporate America ruined this family favorite. Most of the rides are broke and havent run all year. The new wave pool that they advertise this season is just oiles of wood in a parking lot. The only good old things are taco shoppe & pronto pup! These guys are the only reason we come back. If they shut down game over for indiana beach! Its real shame the something that is apart of so many lifes has come to a grinding hault! Not only are the rooms old and over priced but included in the price use to be wristbands for the water park now you they still have the same over priced rooms dirty carpeting and moldy thing on the porch of the penthouse and wristbands are now 50%off. I have to say after 26 years i dont think we will be back again.

We had a great time! We went about a week ago. Me and my daughter rode every ride. Lines were not long at all. The fish pond with all those ugly Karp fish was kinda weird. The games were easy to play, we left with a ton of stuffed animals. The food was expensive and overall it could have been cleaner.

This place was a great little place before the corporate buyout. They have tried to do a few things but the place is just dead. No atmosphere no excitement a lot of booths closed and several rides inoperative not sure what the future looks like for this once family owned jewel? I glad there still trying I hope they get it right but for right now it’s just a step above a carnival. Think twice before you make a day of Indiana Beach
