Must agree with other two reviews. Room as just what we needed — a clean place to lay our heads. Outdated for sure and nothing fancy, but if all you are going to do is sleep, shower, and hit the road, this place will do the trick. Contributing to a Mom and Pop felt good, too. Nice family..

Was in Champaign covering a high school state finals event and considering the fact I was only going to be in my room for 8 hours or less of sleep, I just didn’t feel like paying $ 140-$ 200 for the few rooms that weren’t booked. Since the Chicago area people book Rantoul up as well, I started looking west. Found this little gem on for $ 34. Seriously! $ 34, WTF is it 1988? I was travel without the family so I figured I’d take a chance. I won’t lie I was expecting bikers hanging out and a meth-head flop house with prostitutes. When I got there the place was clean, quite, well kept and with wifi. It kind of felt like a motor side lodge from the 1980’s. Bottom line is, you’re not going to get to much more from the Best Westerns & Motel 6’s of the world, but you will pay double what you would here. Sure it’s scary finding a small owner run motel in a small town, but I think if you’re on a budget and like supporting small business owners, you can’t lose out staying here. Also, check out the kick butt train museum just down the road. How cool is that?

I’m rating five stars because this is an awesome motel for someone on a budget. Although it’s nothing fancy and the décor is pretty outdated, the rooms are very reasonably priced. We got stuck in a little snow storm this weekend while driving from Chicago to St. Louis and needed to find a quick motel to stay at overnight for the snow to finish up. The Best Western is right off the highway but their rooms were too pricey. We just needed a clean place to crash! Well the Foster Inn is HALF the price of Best Western. The rooms were very clean and surprisingly even contained a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The staff is awesome and it seems to be a family run place. The snow continued into the afternoon and the owner/manager said he didn’t mind if we stayed a little later after the 11am check out. Very very nice man. Glad we found this place and that we didn’t have to waste our money crashing at the Best Western! If you are looking for a clean, affordable place to sleep for the night… stay here!!! Also nice to support a small local business rather than going to a large hotel chain.
