Alright. I am mind blown about this place. I haven’t had good freshly made food like this in a long time. Great service flawless food. Can’t beat it. I will now be using it as my place for comparison when I travel. The pie alone was worth the trip. Salty sweet savory I had it all here. Kyle was a real badass. Great service experience. He may be shy and quiet but ask for his recommendation on foods. He’s no bs. I had three courses based on his opinion and he was dead nuts each time. You can’t pay for that.

Cute little place downtown Monticello. Simple menu with some interesting twists. Haven’t seen a gyro omelet since moving away from Chicago. It was very good. Nice portions not too big. I love the carafe of coffee at the table. no waiting for hot coffee. The pies and cakes looked amazing and we will be back just for those:)

Super good food, always consistent. And their pies are to die for! Everything we have every ordered has been delicious. The wild rice soup is the best we’ve ever had… I had a friend who was ill with cancer and it was all she was able to eat for weeks. Highly recommend.

We split the grouper special and it was amazing! Then we had the salted carmel chocolate cake and it was the best cake I’ve ever had. Super dense and great flavor– not too rich. They were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return! We happened to come early at 4p on Saturday and it empty but as we finished up it was really busy already at 5p. I understand they often have lines out the door.

Excellent little café on the corner of one of the main streets in Monticello. The interior is clean and open, self-seating and there seems to be a small town sort of crowd. There’s also small town service — it’s very friendly, but a wee bit slow. The coffee was good and came out quickly, though, so at least we had something while we waited for the food to arrive. Once the food arrived it was delicious — my spaghetti and meatballs(half order) hit the spot and girlfriend’s BLT seemed tasty. We were checked on a couple times during the meal, which was nice. Overall it was a great experience at a small town café. I’d definitely consider returning.

Stopped for dinner with a few friends and while the place was very busy, our food and service were excellent! Well worth the trip for the wild rice soup — even in the summer.

Save room is right! Their pie is top notch… in fact, order pie first and split a meal with someone in your party.

The creamy chicken wild-rice soup is worth the visit! The vegetable side, I chose with my delicious Reuben sandwich, was perfectly tender & hot. Laura, our waitress, was eager to please us. Food was served quickly.

Wonderful food, I’ve had the majority of the items on the menu and each of them has been excellent. Strongly recommend every single one of the pies. The service is also very good, always friendly and helpful.

Since my last review, the restaurant has redecorated, updated their menu and addressed the issues with slow service. This is still not a speedy turn around, but the food is good and it is the best dinner in town.

Always friendly and food is really good! I found this place about a month ago and have been back 4 times. I’ve tried several items and not been disappointed. The reuben is out of this world. They serve wine and beer too which is odd for a café but they have a good selection. Their desserts are the real feature though. Yum!

I’m a sucker for a super unique and restaurant and this fits that need right on the head. I had the gyro with sweet potato fries… one of the best decision ever! I’m new to Monticello but as everyone knows there isn’t much here for food options… other then the standard fast food crap. This café could flourish downtown mlps but the idea I it being tucked away is pretty awesome!

Our favorite neighborhood spot. It is small inside, but the food is tasty, the staff friendly, the set up family friendly, the beer/wine list decent, and the pie offerings top notch. An oasis of locally owned — and not a sports bar!

The best café is getting better! Closed for a couple of days for remodeling. New booths, new floors and more. Looks much nicer. Love their lunch specials. They run to 2pm. For $ 5.99, you get a delicious homemade dish. Several to choose from including chicken stir fry, salad, spaghetti or burger. If you don’t want the lunch specials, they have a nice variety on the menu. the Reuben is very good. Save room for a dessert. They are all homemade and so good.

I was out this way for the launch of a new book store in Elk River. I stopped here for lunch about 1:00. Gayle was my excellent server. I love the menu and after much debating, settled on the asiago mac and cheese, awesome. It comes with soup or salad. A nice oval bowl full of greens and very thinly sliced carrots, that really bring out the flavor. The blue cheese is homemade, too. It reminds me of Keys Café with all the decadent desserts. I got french silk pie for later on at the hotel. It’s a lighter chocolate which was a nice change of pace, and a delicious crust. It was so good I went back for breakfast the next day. They only have 1 waitress until 8:30, on a Saturday, not smart. A couple of bummers, the coffee is weak, and the toast was slightly burnt. My husband loves toast this way. I will give them this, it was perfectly buttered, which most places have to have a meeting on. I got a veggie skillet, very good, and I like the red peppers, it could use more cheese. The cinnamon rolls I brought home were most welcome. They slather them with icing. This would even be a great stop for either meal on the way to Fargo. It’s so small town, it’s hard to believe it’s just under an hour from the TC.

Great spot! I was there on Saturday at 11. It wasn’t busy, food was fast and good. The service was great from the server to the cashier. Laura, I believe her name was. This place is exactly what it is. A good hometown restaurant. I give it 5 stars because it fulfills its duty, and I had a good time.

Terrible service and prices. My family and I came in and saw the tiny diner was only ½ full for breakfast so we thought we could get in and out quickly will some great food. It took about 10 mins to get someone to bring us coffee. As we looked around almost nobody had food and people looked quite unhappy. After seeing the extravagant prices we told the waitress if it was going to take a long time for the food we might just leave. Remarkably she said that was fine, gave us the total for our coffee and we ended up at a nearby McDonalds. We never even got to see food after 30 mins sitting in there…
