Decided last minute to go to this place and didn’t want no more 15 minutes for a hibachi table! Service was great and the cook was fun and he entertained my daughter throughout the experience! Defiantly will be going back!!!

This place was once Montgomery’s «high end» Japanese places and was amazing. My wife and I went last night and it was terrible. The waitress did nothing but bring us soup and salad. My wife and another lady sitting across from us had to clean the table off at the hibachi grill. I had to go to the bar to get another drink. The cook did not season anything at all. The rice had a very«fishy» taste which made our stomach churn. The filet tasted as if the meat was spoiled, again NO seasoning. The wife and I spent over 100 $ on just the two of us and we did nothing but waste the food. Very disappointed and will never return. Did not complain to management as I think we all just wanted to get out of the building.

This is an awesome sushi spot. The management is extremely welcoming and the sushi is fresh and delicious. I had the Alaskan and Rainbow Roll with miso soup, and was not disappointed at all. If I’m ever in the area again I will be back. Prices are also very reasonable for fresh sushi. Highly recommend this place.

This is a great place to go if you like staring at an indifferent hostess for 15 minutes, while they let you rot in the the waiting area. We won’t be back…

I just wanted to write a review about my recent experience at Miyako Japanese Steak House. I had my son’s 11th birthday party there with just family and friends, which equalled out to be 25 guest! I called the day before and gave them a heads up so they would be prepared for that big of a group. Let me just say, I was NOT impressed at all! The food was fine, but the treatment was far from ok. We do go and eat there quite often and never really have issues but with as many people as we had, it seemed they were mad that we were there to begin with. I would have been glad to take my 25 people elsewhere! First, they did NOTHING at all for my son’s birthday… no dessert, no song no happy birthday form anybody that worked there! Not asking for royal treatment but at least acknowledgment ! Second, and most importantly, we had some guest that were dropping by just to see my son and were not going to eat cause their son who is 10 doesn’t like the noise and fire and all that due to him having sensory issues. Instead of them saying, no problem, the owner said«What is the problem, the fire?» Then looks at him and says«Well, how old is he?» The mom had to explain he is special needs and he doesn’t like it. The whole night, the owner just seemed to be aggravated that we were all there. No worries, won’t happen again! I’m sorry 25 of us came to your restaurant spending over $ 100 per family! We will not trouble you with our presences again.

Just happily stuffed ourselves at Miyako! JP took great care of us; the sushi was velvety and fresh, the rice was perfectly al dente, and the waitress was kind enough to leave the pot of tea with us.(A small detail, but as a hollow-legged tea drinker, I really appreciate it!) We are already planning our next visit!

Typical Japanese restaurant. My boyfriend and I sat at a regular table on the sushi side but ordered hibachi. The service was subpar and they didn’t appear to be busy. I would return to Miyako again to try the sushi because it looked fresh and appetizing.

The only thing keeping me from giving Miyako 4 stars is the service when you first walk in is not very welcoming. There is rarely anybody hosting, so it can take a minute to grab someone’s attention and be seated. However, once you order, the food does not disappoint. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. If you choose to go the hibachi route, that’s just as good. The fried rice is absolutely delicious and who doesn’t love a show with their meal? Overall, I really like this place and continue to come back.

We knew it was not going to be good from the moment we walked in but our kids insisted on eating here. No one was greeting guests and there was no obvious hostess stand. The restaurant was busy but not full. After finally finding someone and being seated, the service continued as poor. We were served our order of edamame and one of our salads but given no plates. Then the bartender brought one of our rolls, and again, still no plates. Finally our server came with more of our rolls and we had to point out to her that we had no plates. At the same time, we noticed another family getting up to serve themselves with chopsticks and napkins and had to ask for plates. Our order of cucumber salad was served well after most of our rolls and our sashimi was forgotten. We all love sushi and used to eat it regularly when living in California but we won’t be returning to eat here again. The rice fell apart, the rolls were small, and nothing was great. If you’re craving sushi, I’d look elsewhere. There is a hibachi side to the restaurant but we didn’t venture to that side and don’t care for the show.

More or less a run-of-the-mill sushi and hibachi place, Miyako is propped up by their customer service, which handled our group of seven with relative ease and was standing by at the ready with separate checks. The praise ends here, though: the sushi was sloppily cut, but was otherwise fresh. Tempura was average, as was the hibachi show. I haven’t been to more than maybe five of these things in my lifetime, but I was surprised that they brought out the sharp-smelling cleaning materials to clean the hibachi while we were still eating. It was a Saturday evening, so maybe they were trying to stay on top of things. I’m not sure what’s up with those fried potatoes, but whatever.

I took some friends out for a Hibachi dinner. The show was fun, the Chefs were fun, the food was good. My issues started when the meal was over. The workers started cleaning the grill while we were still eating. They emptied these buckets under the grill that held all of the nights water and grill scrapings. The smell was horrible. Very dissatisfied with the experience. Nothing beats a few gallons of raw steak, raw shrimp, and raw chicken being sloshed into a large mop bucket while your eating. Maybe you will have a better experience than we did.

I’m surprised at the relatively average reviews — I’ve eaten A LOT of sushi(California girl, we practically eat it from birth), and Miyako’s sushi has the best flavor out of all the Montgomery sushi restaurants, hands down. If you like rolls, try the Lobster Roll, Daniel Special Roll, Sapporo Roll, or Miyako Special Roll. Their tempura is the best in town as well, the batter is light and it doesn’t come out super greasy(there are other places in town that are okay, but their tempura is more oily). The hibachi is not much different than other places around here, but for sushi, Miyako is my go to restaurant.

Its ok… I have NEVER had potatoes instead of bean sprouts, not sure what that was about. Its your typical Hibachi joint, volcano onion, spinning egg, flames… Nothing stood out that would make me want to go back.

No issues with any of the food. I can’t say I was wow-ed, but I’d be up for going back and trying something different to see if it’d swing me in one direction or the other.

I eat lots Sushi, we have our favorites in the Chicago area. I’ve had really expensive sushi in NYC. But this is buy far the best I’ve ever had. I love it and nothing has ever compared. Every time we go through Montgomery to see friends and family, we have to stop in… So good.

Came here with a group of friends. The staff was friendly and attentive. Had the Miyako Special Cocktail at the bar and it was on point. Ordered a spicy tuna roll and after living in Japan for 4 years, it wasn’t bad, but the portion was small. Hibachi was okay, I really don’t care too much for the show and razzle dazzle stuff.

mediocre food + high prices = go elsewhere. I came in with a large group, which was nice because we had a room with the hibachi all to ourselves. However, the food wasn’t that good. And it’s also hard to find it enjoyable when you see the mountain of butter brought in used completely used on just eight meals. The food is also entirely covered in teriyaki sauce — and I mean COVERED. The chef overcooked my salmon. The chefs also aren’t that flashy — they do the flaming onion thing but they don’t de-tail the fish in front of you and flip it into their hats like I have seen at every other restaurant. hibachi salmon + Diet Coke = $ 22.

This is only a review of their sushi/service. I haven’t tried their habachi. I may be a bit of a Sushi-snob coming from New York. But I will try my best to be fair. Presentation was mediocre. Freshness was mediocre. Portions are small. Roll variety is satisfactory. Service was attentive. We got there quite early, so there were not many customers. However, as we were leaving, there seemed to be a wait for tables.

I’m surprised Japanese people actually work here. The reason why I say this is because from where I come from the majority of Japanese restaurant workers are actually Koreans. Aside from this I would have to say that this restaurant is «okay.» I ordered 4 rolls of sushi(Eel, Salmon, Volcano, and 1 more I forgot) and the total price was around $ 24. It took 4 rolls of sushi to fill me up because the sushi was the smallest thing I’ve ever seen. The way they cut the rolls up were ridiculous. I’ve never seen a sushi portion so small. The taste was decent but the portion was bad. I have nothing against this place but I most likely won’t go here again. Don’t get me wrong, the food was decent but the portion is horrible. Small Portion and decent price = expensive meal.
