Went for the Easter Brunch with family of 6 adults. We all thought the food was very good and the service was great! We were not rushed and had a great dinner. I would recommend, we are going back for dinner to try some of the other menu items.

I had my wedding reception here some years back, when it was Jason’s at Grays Mill. I was happy with the service then, and thankfully, it has remained a great place to have a fantastic meal. My husband and I decided to try Gray’s Mill on a Friday night(carry out only, we were newly minted parents) and got the stuffed burgers, medium. The burgers were SO good. Juicy, large portions, not at all greasy and properly seasoned. The cheesecake was creamy, not too sweet. I took my mom and brother again today for lunch. We arrived past the lunch rush, so we were the only ones there. The service was very attentive and very nice, well made bloody mary, and again, excellent food. I will continue to come back, this is a nice gem for Montgomery, and probably the best food around the Aurora/Montgomery downtown area.

Visited with 3 other people and had a nice time. We each had something different and everyone’s meal was tasty and well prepared. The décor fit the space very well, it was all about showing off the design and construction of the historic building. We showed up in jeans but I wish we had dialed it up one more notch to sit in the main dining room. The bar area in the basement would be fine for jeans and serves the same menu. The service was ok, the servers were available but not intrusive. Everyone’s food was very good. I had a full slab of ribs that was sauced just right and nicely smokey. Another person had a burger that was nice and juicy. The fish-lover had salmon that was tasty and the last member of our party had a mouth-watering plate of brisket. They are working on the menu, we’ll definitely be back to check out the new dishes.

I was here for a wedding reception back in June and I thought the place was great. I arrived to help with the rest of the setup process while the bride and groom were taking pictures. The staff was VERY friendly, helpful and accommodating. The reception was cocktails and hor d’ouerves, and all the food was great — especially the meatballs! The bartender at the reception was great too! I’m interested in coming back here with my husband to check out a sit-down dinner!

First visit great after opening. Returned for second visit and it was the worst dining experience in a Fox Valley dining establishment. Wrong orders, poor service, total of six diners on a Friday evening. Too bad for Montgomery after all the hype of what could be a great place on the Fox River. Not worth the trip. Wait staff trying hard but not trained to serve in a quality manner. When a kitchen fails and staff cannot serve, it does not look like a bright future.

Really terrific place! Nice relaxed atmosphere in an interesting old historic mill. Food was great, large portions and very reasonable when compared to other nice dinner restaurants.

Have you been to Gray’s Mill yet? Downtown Montgomery, on the Fox River. Try the Turkey Dumpling Noodle Soup, and steak sandwich… Wow! Great for lunch or dinner. I love the basement lounge area, really nice. I can’t wait until its a little warmer outside to sit outside by the river. Cool historic building too. Love it.

Good selection, creative menu. The Prime Rib sandwich was delicious. The pickles on the side were amazing. The décor is elegant, and the service was friendly and efficient.

They have reopened under new management… no longer Jason’s…I had been there 3 times since they reopened and loved it. The steak, pork tenderlion sandwich, and pot roast meal were all very good.

After my review on March 4, I received a personal message informing me that a tent able to accommodate 150 people will be available for events mid-April to mid-October. I TOLD you they were attentive! The fact that they took the time to share that with me just goes to show how focused they are on pleasing their guests. Great news :)

Last night we visit the Mill again, and again we where very pleased; From the moment we came in the staff make us feel very welcome ;It was about 7:00 Pm and the dinning room was pack. We stop downstairs at the bar and Mike took good care of us and explain details of our wine selection. Enough time to enjoy some drinks and we were scorted to our table. The service was prompt and courteous, Irma did a great job. The food matched the attention; The appetizers: Sausage and cheses and the cheese curds were a good start. The Special soup Shrimp Bisque was just delicious and well presented. My wife had the Pot Roast(one of the best). Our friends had the sirloin and the special Rack of lamb, I also had the lamb, perfect with a side of Pub Potatoes(very tasty) and creamy spinach(a little on the runny side but good tasting) We drink Pinot Noir and Meritage wines that accompany well our meals. At dessert(I wish I had more room for it) we share the delicious chocolate cake with a cup of very good expesso. All and all another good experience at the Mill. We’ll be back soon…

The Gray’s Mill room is a really interesting venue so it is nice to see another restaurant give it a try in that space. My wife and I both started with the sweet potato soup which was really delicious. For our main courses my wife had the salmon which was good, but I had the special which was a rib eye with a bourbon sauce glaze that was delicious. The sides that came with the meals were varied and very good. The service was good, but not outstanding. For dessert we had the carmelized pears on the zucchini bread mentioned in another review. It was okay, but seemed almost too sweet. We will definitely go there again.

ClifNotes review: The food was mediocre and the service was bad. There seem to be some serious communication issues between different areas of the restaurant, and the result was a rough night. I hate criticisms w/o detail, so the specifics are below if you want them: Our server was cheerful, but seemed inexperienced. She didn’t check in with us very often to see how things were going. She stared at me blankly when I told her that our appetizer had not been correct — we ordered sliders, choosing 3 of the 4 varieties offered. When they were delivered, one was a shrimp slider instead of the ground chuck one we’d ordered. The waitress did not apologize for this, though she did put in an order for the correct slider. It did not come out until after our entrees. One of the side dishes we ordered did not arrive with the rest of the meal. Several items on the table were barely touched because they didn’t taste good, but she either didn’t notice or didn’t care enough to ask whether everything was okay(or maybe she was so inexperienced that she didn’t know how to approach the situation — I want to give her the benefit of the doubt. She really was nice). The kitchen staff seemed to be screwing up right and left. Throughout the evening, individual small plates kept making their through the dining room. Clearly, sides were being left off or messed up at lots of different tables. If the food had been awesome, these issues might have been acceptable. But alas, the food wasn’t great. That ground chuck slider that we waited for was fatty & bland. The sliders in general were cute, but the buns were overwhelmingly large and their fillings were underwhelming. The single fried shrimp on the shrimp po boy was overcooked and rubbery. The pulled pork was chewy, and the sauce seemed to be from a bottle. I will say that the jalapeño popper on top was really good. The braised beef was delicious. It was missing the accompanying mushrooms, but even without them, that slider was good. Still, it was missing a key element. Not a single one of those sliders was acceptable. I’m not sure why I didn’t ask for the appetizer to be taken off our bill. I think I was just surprised that the server didn’t do that automatically upon noting the mistakes and the untouched corrected order. We tasted it and left it on the plate — terrible. On to the entrees. I ordered the chicken pot pie with herbed cheddar crust, which I was really excited about, having been only recently introduced to the world of the pot pie. The sides were jicama slaw and grilled vegetables. The grilled veggies were good. A little al dente, but that’s how I like them. There were 3 small pieces of jicama in the jicama slaw. The rest was cabbage, and it was mediocre. The pot pie wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t great. The crust was very thin and just didn’t taste very good. It was missing the buttery goodness that we usually associate with pot pie. The chicken pieces were large and tough. The gravy and veggies were fine. My companion ordered the country fried steak with mac and cheese and pub fries. The mac and cheese was delivered quite a bit after the rest of our food. The sauce was pretty good, but it was thin, and the pasta pieces were so large that you mostly just tasted plain noodle. The pub fries were terrific. I would eat those again. I didn’t try the steak, but he told me that it wasn’t good — gristly meat with soggy breading. Both of our meals had the same color palette as everything else we saw coming out of that kitchen: White, beige, and brown. Dessert was the best part of the meal. We had the poached pears with whiskey caramel over zucchini bread. It was huge and nicely done. If we were to return, I would skip the appetizer and go for the dessert. The other desserts that came to the tables near us also looked terrific. I like the history, I like the space, I liked the dessert. Otherwise, Gray’s Mill was a thumbs down.

Been here for lunch and the menu was so limited as to choices. They didn’t even have the beer we asked for because they had run out. Food was not that great and definitely overpriced.

Went there on friday night with four people and we all were impressed with the food and the service. We ordered a variety of meals and each turned out well. The Pot Pie was amazing and it had a chedder flavored crust. The portions you get are good sized and filling. The staff was friendly and did a good job on the service. The upstairs is a formal restaurant and the downstairs is a more intimate and trendy bar/restaurant. If you live around Montgomery you should come check this place out the next time you go out to dinner.

Check out this gem, in Montgomery of all places. We ordered a bottle of Frog’s Leap with the Cheese plate to start things off. Debra the General Manager and Sommelier explained that it was field grown and shared a couple of really neat stories about the property and wine. She made it such a comfortable experience. The bar downstairs has this amazing feel with the leather sofa and Fireplace. The stained glass décor highlight the simple elegance that Grey’s Mill has to offer.

This was called Jason’s at Gray’s Mill, but they closed years ago and the building sat empty until it was reincarnated this week as Gray’s Mill. It’s a bit of a drive from St. Charles, and there’s not a lot to draw you down to Montgomery, at least not yet — but this is a tremendously warm old building and the food is great. Like all new restaurants, there are some rough edges, but they’re off to a tremendous start. The braised short ribs were outstanding, and the taste of beef in anything, from country fried steak to sliders, was terrific. Nice selection of beer, although not as much on draft as I like to see. But they did have New Belgium Snow Day, a current favorite! If you are anywhere in the area — and that’s at least Naperville to Sugar Grove, St. Charles to Yorkville, check ‘em out! Should be a fantastic place for a cocktail outside when the weather gets warm…
